HoQ TDM 4v4 Winter Season 2025 (2 comments)

The sign-ups for ql Quake Live TDM 4v4 Winter Season 2025 will be open from Sunday 1st December until Sunday 22nd of December 2024.

The Tournament start will be Monday 13th of January 2025, when hopefully all are back from their holidays.

The donated prizemoney so far is 1200€ donations which will be payed out over top3 placements. Donations will be possible until the end of the tournament.

Check below for all needed informations and sign-up! If you already have player and clan account on House of Quake, feel free to sign-up right away. Otherwise make sure to register yourselves and your clan first.

Youtuber Ludwig holds the Worlds Greatest Gamer event where Quake Champions is one of the game. This match was pretty exciting actually, at about 7 hours 47 minutes, two Evo champs going at it, Punk vs Ledden. What do you think of their level for first time players? Apparently they both thought the game was fun

qzdm13 isn't downsized. It was created straight from q3dm13. We then widen some hallways (hall near mega), opened up some doorways (ala what nodm9 does), slatted the bridge (nodm9 inspiration), and took elements of dm13, nodm9 and prodm13 for the item layout.

I'm not saying you have to like the map, or agree on its item placement, but it is in no way 'downsized' from the original.

i meant that its downsized in comparison to pro-nodm9, maybe you should look at which maps were being used in competition and realize that you can't just edit the originals a little bit and that be ok. but i guess you also stuffed unlagged code and made the shotgun stupidly overpowered too, so i shouldn't expect so much out of a game designed for noobs.

im not an amazing player, but i liked it when games were about emphasising the difference of skill between players. ive finally given up on ql, i only hope there may be a good quake game in the future.

This is exactly the reason we need new maps. We're dealing with a brand new game for thousands of players, and we're just going back to the old map pool.

Keep ZTN, keep t4, t6, t7, and either DM13 or DM6.

You're telling us all of it is failing because we keep old maps, then tell us to keep all but one old map, and just add another.

What? How is that progress?

In my opinion: I haven't played T9, but some people have said it's bad and I guess they simply compared it to the old maps, without giving it proper testing time.

My idea: keep ztn, dm13(New lay-out pretty much changes it completely), keep T7.
Remove DM6, T4 and T6 from the duel mappool, and add new maps like perhaps T9.

Again, I'm not up to date on the whole T9 thing but it doesn't seem like anyone gave it a real chance.

If it doesn't work the mappool can allways be altered.

But, why keep ZTN?
Because it's still one of the best maps around, if not the best, tho ofcourse I'm not sure yet how it'd work out in QL, there should be new stuff even after 9 years.

I agree, keep ZTN, but in regards to T9, I think it's a bad map. I think that some tournament organizers god desperate for new content, so instead of waiting for good new maps, they just used leftovers of what we had, and picked T9. I personally think it's a bad map, and only has attention because one small online tournament used it.

T6 and T7 are good maps, maybe not as good as the other ones, but we need new maps. The reason I'm happy for ZTN, is because it can replace an even worse map (like DM6) and keep the map pool decent.

DM6 is overplayed, and extremely bad for competitive play. It's too old, and once someone gets control and can keep it, it's over (where as the likely hood of someone coming back on any other map is much higher).

I do want new maps, but it's going to be a while before we can get a FULL and GOOD map pool of NEW maps. Until then, we're going to have to mix it up.

Also, we need new maps with a fresh look too. We're all tired of this boring dungeon/graveyard style. Personally, I think it wouldn't hurt to make the maps look like Q4 maps, a more sharper futuristic look to it. Some examples are here.

Again, I haven't played T9 myself.

I didn't include dm6 in my list of maps to keep:)

T6 is quite old, and really bad (rail decides match).

I'm not a big fan of the futuristic look... but a change of scenery couldn't hurt:) should be more like placebo tho, not the t4 kind of futuristic.

T6 is really great duel map and if you check QL duel servers. Every second or third duel server have people on T6 playing duels.

to me T6 presents a very interesting game flow, and it is much less +backy than T7, T9, DM13, ZTN, and DM6.

probably the most balanced map considering the game dynamics that QL can offer. maybe in Q3 it wasn't good, but in QL it is much better than most of the maps and is much less spawn-dominated.

the map is all about sniping your opponent from the other side of the map and the lack of ra and 2 min mh only make it worse cause they seldom force any direct confrontation. also the map doesnt flow movement wise

Its a map of sniping and its very easy to maintain control. Theres very little fighting going on even for 1on1.

Its biggest problem is probably how very easy it is to maintain control once youve got it, personally I prefer maps where you have to fight to maintain control, not just run around in circles.

It's bad because it basically relies on hitting rails from a very far distance and running on a bugged out netcode, with no cool sneak attacks where you can rush stacked with an RA or something. t7 is +back? lol...

t9 is a pretty fun fast paced map, should replace some super old map imo. Ca2 is fun and intense for duel as well

I don't think T9 is a good map for the competitive environment of tournaments, it's just too simple a design to really push the players.

Fine for publics though and was one of the better Dreamcast maps.

As for T6, I'm sure it could be changed to work. id already changed the layout from the Q3 version (Which worked better anyway).

t6, t7, t9, dm6, ztn, t4, dm13 all great maps. CA2 is a clan arena map, not for d00l.

I think esr need to put forward a council which can advice ID on behalf of the community.

This council should consist of our top tier players (fox, jibo, etc) and Jamerio, Vedic, Aaron, Ix, Vorpal and the guy with the rainbow avatar desperatly trying to prove KGB is cheating.

They should put forward the opinion of the communty concerning:

-maps: new/old, weapon placement, weapon removing, respawn times, adding/removing armors etc
-weapon balance
-best gametype
-mod options
-something i forgot to mention

Their internal discusions are ofcourse posted here on esr for our viewing pleasure :) Looking forward at their attempts of agreeing with eachother!
