Youtuber Ludwig holds the Worlds Greatest Gamer event where Quake Champions is one of the game. This match was pretty exciting actually, at about 7 hours 47 minutes, two Evo champs going at it, Punk vs Ledden. What do you think of their level for first time players? Apparently they both thought the game was fun

both mice use the same bottom form, so its just switching out the top part, only needs a slight modification on the mousewheel of the salmosa so the abyssus top fits properly... you'll see what i mean when you try it

I am using at the moment CM Spawn and I am quite happy with it, perfect sensor with nice shape.

TBH Razer Da 3.5G is 3600 dpi or something like that, old 1800 model is 3G

can you compare it to the 518? I'm thinking about switching, looks like it would suit fingertip grip better.
By Finland juM8o  - Reply to #93
For me grip is somewhat similar with both mouses, thumb on left side, 2 fingers on the top and 2 fingers on the right side. CM Spawn is the same weight or a bit lightier, its a bit lower on the height and a bit wider i guess. Sensor is more precise, more responsive, sides are rubber and grip is therefore better and mouse feet are a ton better. Also theres 7 keys, scroll and macros in this mouse, thats really a ton more you would expect from something with 35€ pricetag..

For me mx518 falls real short compared to this one.

to all the people who demand even further splitting (ksoo already split the choices abyssus/salmosa and deathadder 3G 1800 / 3.5G):
I intended this poll to show that esr wants high quality mice, they will not get stuff that has failed in thorough tests, whereas shape, performance matter; brand less so

My Abyssus broke and when I brought it back to the shop they didn't have a replacement.
The only gaming mouse they had was a Steelseries Ikari so I took that one.
It's too heavy for my taste, apart from that I like it. And a huge plus for me over Abyssus / WMO is that it has sidebuttons.

Wish I could vote twice.

Abyssus or WMO!

I have a hard time deciding between the two.
A WMO with a better cord and a 500hz/1000hz switch on the bottom would be perfect.

But then again an Abyssus that doesn't jitter on nearly everything would be near perfect too!

The MX510 uses the Avago ADNS-S2020 sensor, which maxes out at 800 cpi, and it's the first 12 bit data path Logitech mouse.
The MX518's earlier version uses the Avago ADNS-A3080 (max. 1600 cpi), the later version has an A3080E (max. 1800 cpi) inside, both with 16 bit data path.

Physical dimensions are the same (130 x 70 x 43 mm, 105 g).
MX510 and MX518 v1 has the same feet, the MX518 v2 has the larger "tripod" feet - which is inferior in terms of gliding compared to the first version.
The difference between the MX518 v1 and v2 (besides the slight sensor "upgrade") is that the newer one has a different lower part (not see-through anymore :' (, 3 large feet instead of 5 small) and a slight tone-change in the paintwork.

The plastic surface of the MX510 may be a bit slippier than the MX518's.

Actually, it can work quite fine on non-homogenic printed surfaces (like Allsop Raindrop, etc.) with the FW upgrade, but it's not recommended for low sensitivity - and an MX5xx will be 3 times better at least.

My point is, that it's not COMPLETELY shit.

I feel like the pied piper, but can only vote once.

I have alternated alot recently and am currently using a Roccat kone+ excellent shape and good funtionality on wheel for scroll, press, and 2 wheel side press(5 binds on wheel = result :) and good software. Acc is still ok.

IE3 is probably the best alround mouse for me, but the wheel is buggy sometimes. Have an IMO but find the side buttons too difficult to use. Both similar acc.

I have a g9x but mouse side buttons too difficult to select, and detachable caseing is too loose on movement.

Have EC1 nice mouse for fast point and click.

My acc remains similar on all, as shite as it might be, but hey I am old.

Had a mx518 for about 4 years, switched to a Roccat Kone that broke in about 3 months - after that I was referred to a 3.0 ... bought some months later coz I'm starting to get hooked to buying new hardware. But I'm gonna keep using the 3.0 coz it's simply excellent.

I went from a WMO to a MSIE 3.0 - as far as I can tell there is no difference except the MSIE 3.0 has two more buttons and a better grip.

So my vote is for the MSIE 3.0!

I had no idea there were so many MX518 users. Would any of you guys care to explain the appeal? The only justification I could see is it has a good shape for a palm style player. Otherwise it just seems heavy, hard to claw grip, has prediction, etc. The anti-wmo/abyssus if you will.

I can use mine both palm or grip, it's a nice one for big hands with a decent sensor

Interesting, I have medium sized hands. I owned a 518 a long time ago, but never felt like I could get that locked claw grip feel on it. I think it was the thumb groove and heavy weight that threw me off. I suppose it's all preference and style.

Prediction doesn't make any difference aim wise, it's just something different.

Also I've always claw gripped my 518 and had zero problems with it.

Honestly, my slight angle shots felt more precise when I switched from my old mx310 to a wmo. Maybe it was just a placebo effect, but the difference felt real.

Ah well I'll probably never changed as I've tried alot of mice in my time and nothing comes close to the quality and sensor of the 518. If you're playing your best with a mouse and it ain't broken you'd be a fool to switch :P

tried using it, it went back to the box, did this about 35-40 times, i thought its a decent mouse, just have to get used to it, sensor is good, has no negaccel, i find it shit for claw grip, and heavy too, its a just palm mouse thats all, sold it 2 years ago good ridance, roccat kova uses its sensor, which is the same weight as wmo 85 - 85 grams, but its a lilbit smaller than wmo, good mouse, dies the same way as the mx518, it turns of and you replug it, and once it will not turn back

INTERNET 102
after we have seen how language and reading is important on the Internet we will go into more exotic territory. you learned about words and links and the importance of understanding stuff. now you will try to execute this theoretic blabla in (xs)reality!!!

look for underlined and differently formatted texts (or words which are a number of letters, as you should know!) and READ them, if you want to be on the safe side, just middle click one of those LINKS and you will see the result immediatly in another TAB, you will soon see how the words in those LINKS are LINKED to the meaning of those words!

before you look on my solution further down, try hard and find it on your own!

hint: you are looking for individual VOTES!
hint2: you might wanna have them SHOWN to you
hint3: that LINK might be in the OP post

I've used a Logitech mx518 since I started playing Quake in 2008. Before Quake I used a Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical 1.1 for about 7 years or more, great product.

I've noticed some time ago Logitech put out a successor to the mx518 called the g400. Why is it unpopular and what are the main differences compared to the mx518?

Didn't know the 518 was so popular, have 510/518 and both still going strong, earlier ones seemed more problematic, but I did bang them a lot in game if I got hard done by.

It sits a little high for my liking but I need the extra buttons as im an arrow player.

Don't play enough to warrant anymore mouse obsession as its mostly bollocks anyway when you see best players with 10 dollar mice. But if this goes, I would like a smaller mouse, with 3 accessible buttons on the mouse. G1 size but with more buttons and nice smooth sensor for QCK+.

Looking at the top results it seems like Logitech is missing an ambidextrous low form factor mouse now.

MS and Razer both have a right handed and an ambidextrous mouse near the top. Logitech's 518 is old but still #1, and none of their other mice make an impact.

Wonder why we never saw an "mx318" or something similar. Would probably have been demand for it. If they ever introduce one, I hope the buttons are as light to press as the wmo.

For gaming, it's a Razer

S A L M O S A
A
L
M
O
S
A

with no drivers installed, MarkC accel-off, 800 cpi and 500 Hz.

At the same time, for Windows-usage, a Razer Diamondback 3G Earth Green with no driver, 1800 cpi and 125 Hz.

Edit: Also got a Razer Abyssus and a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.
