The German Quake blog
derQuaker interviewed
Fan “RazerJ” Zhibo. This Dreamhack interview was done by
d1ablo in russian and now published in english.
Jibo speaks about DH expectations, how important quake is for him and the future of the best player ever! Here is the exorbitant teasing snippet:
In his 1on1 with Carmac, cypher said that you will never win a big tournament. What do you think was his motivation for this statement?
RazerJ: Basically he is right - I have different priorities in life now and can’t devote that much time into the game as I used to. But saying “never” - he is just very young and thinks, once he can handle a railgun, everything in life will be easy to accomplish.
Jibo is considered to be at the top level of the international Quake scene for years now. His biggest successes have to winning CPL Singapur, CPL Nordic and his second place in the CPL Finals in 2006. With these accomplishments he could acquire Razer as a sponsor who made it possible for him to attend every big quake-event this year but high-quality games could not ensure success for him. His best result, placing 2nd at GameGune, brought him 3.000 €.

Fragster.de did an extensive interview with Sebastian '
Spart1e' Siira, containing his thoughts about the
ESWC MoA, his new clan and everything else that is going on his
-life at the moment. Here comes the snippet:
: You already could be considered a good player, but you seemed lacked the edge to get to the top. What changed at Athens?
Spart1e: I was just more motivated to do good. I was really concentrated on things that would make me play good; eat and sleep good, was just thinking of getting my own game working rather than watching other games.
So if u wanna know if Spart1e really is afraid of Spiders, or just wanna take a look at his cfg, read the

Right before the
ESWC Masters of Athens, the German eSport site
fragster.de interviewed the Swedish Quake star Magnus "
fox" Olsson. Find out what he has to say about the upcoming event, his friendship with Johan "Toxic" Quick and why he plays with inverted sound.
Fragster: What is your opinion on the comeback of toxic? Only a few might know him as good as you know him. Do you think he will be able to continue his past successes? And what did he do the whole time?
fox: Well, he's a good friend and I'm happy to be travelling with him again. Damn shame that we always get put in the same groups etc. or face each other early in the brackets :) We are pretty sick of it. Toxic has been quite active in QuakeLive for a while so I won't underestimate him. Looking forward to watching him play versus Rapha.

i was searching around for other ql sites and found this:
http://www.quakeliver.com
but its as bad as the beta forum... so again i had to realize that there is no going back from esr ;)
had a great time reading things like this though:
Post subject: What are you most interested in playing.. 1v1 or teams?
I like team play, but I'm more focused on my own stats. I was only in a small clan for a little while, and yeah when you take on other clans there is a sort of reliance and level of trust you need in your team mates (even though I was the one always letting them down).

i was wondering if there are ppl like me who read every shitty comment on every lame thread...
taking into account the few comments i usually dont read if its "253 comments / 2 unread" and the few things i actually miss, i think i read like ~91% (speaking of stuff that was posted in the last 2-3 years)

frets on fire is a guitar hero clone for the pc. so if you dont like guitar hero, stop reading right here. (didnt know i like it since 3 days ago ;))
i was looking for a pc version of guitar cause i dont own any console. instead i found this:
http://fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/
instead of using the guitars that are fckn expensive, you play like this >>>>
looks a bit lame, but its not that bad actualy
this is how the actual game looks like:
and one of the best things about it, you can downlaod tons of songs from fansites. best site i found was an italian forum:
http://www.fofitalia.altervista.org/forum/index.php
edit: attached a torrent with all guitar hero 3 songs for fof

As i am really psyched about GameGune, i decided to IM some of the fascinating individuals that frequently visit here, to ask some short questions.
noctis already replied this morning [+], so here we go:
In your memorable
interview with DDK, you said that you were pleased with your ESWC Placement (5th-8th), do you still feel the same about it and what does your new team 4K think about your performance?
noctis: I hope nobody remembers that interview. I am pleased to reach my goal of placing top8, but after the game vs fox i was a bit disappointed because it could have been top4. My manager pretty much thinks the same thing afaik. ;)
Moving on, how did you prepare for GameGune?
noctis: I played 3-4 maps with Spartie on monday.
Three weeks ago you faced fox in the ESWC Masters Quarter-Final and lost although you were able to win dm6 and give the swede a hard time on hub. Do you think you can do better in your upcoming group match against him?
noctis: As it seems the group games are only bo2 and i have no idea how the map selection works i am hoping to reach a 1-1, but im not too confident atm.
Do you fear any of the other players in group A? What do you expect from Krysa?
noctis: I don't fear any player. Krysa might give me a run for the playoff spot and with bo2 who knows whats gonna happen. :/
If you manage to get in the double elimination Bracket, what are your expectations?
noctis: I don't think that far ahead when its even unsure that i make it out of the group, i will try to give my best and see where i end up.
Who do you think is going to win GameGune?
noctis: fox or av3k, hoping for fox tho.
Thanks for your time and good luck! Anything you wanna add?
noctis: GO FOX!

is it possible to code something, that detects if the amount of gtv spam, in a short time frame, is above a certain threshhold and then outputs the last 10 seconds as an avi?

After 3 Weeks full of great
matches, the European Duel League has reached the playoffs!
Fighting for the 100$ are
Killmaster,
Spart1e,
Cypher,
Krysa,
K1llsen,
Question,
Guard and
zik. Good Luck!
For a nice overview of the upcoming games, you should head over to
Quake Voltage, where
Free posted an
article with his predictions.
Furthermore, EDL Admin
Legie
interviewed all 8 remaining players about:
1) What do you think about the tourney so far? Are you satisfied with your performance?
2) Which game was the most difficult for you and how do you estimate your chances in the play-off?
3) Who do you tip to win the tourney?
So prepare for some rough english and answers like,
Marcel "k1llsen" Paul:
"if my arms not poor falling down then i hope i'll win this tournament. But Cypher is candidate for the 1st place too."
As usual, there will be GTV @ 147.32.30.24:27970 and there are
fixtures for all matches.
Additionaly
Teamplay are going to cast some of the matches and for the finals, you can look forward to some
QuadV action.
Enjoy the Playoffs!

Andy "gellehsak" Ryder of Team EG just did a review of Killer NIC's premier card, the M1. Basically, it claims to lower pings and raise your FPS with an extremely beefy NIC. The thing has it's own DDR RAM and a processor built in, which are put to use with a custom version of linux that offloads and optimizes work normally done by your CPU.

How to play back Q4 demosWinner Brakcet Final of the I30 Tournament, 1st map.
Intense game with only marginal score gaps throughout the whole 15mins. Showing #1 seed and #2 placed
Stermy on his favorite map Galang against the #2 seed, #3 placed
Cooller.
Imho this demos shows that Galang is still able to produce amazing games and shouldnt really be left behind. Although of course (also this game here) the gameplay is dominated by hitscans weapons.

1 week ago i moved into a new town (göttingen) because i am going to study physics there now. moved into a flat-sharing community and everthing is fine.
except one thing: i have got no internet here because the ppl i live together with dont know the wep key, nor do they know the router pw, nor do they know the provider data.
well, everything is new here so im not even bored yet in my free time, but i hate that i cant talk to ppl via icq/irc so i am realy :( (and i cant write the wc3l coverage ;)) + im addicted so i wont be able to live without inet until god knows when...
tomorrow i am propably going to buy a 20m long cable to connect to the router directly, my attempts to crack any of the pws and data i need failed :/ well, never tried something like that before so i dont know much about it. + i dont have linux and most of the wireless lan crack thingys only work for linux...
your help/ideas and sympathy are welcomed ;)

The data includes all searches from those users for a three month period this year, as well as whether they clicked on a result, what that result was and where it appeared on the result page. It’s a 439 MB compressed download, expanded to just over 2 gigs.
AOL claims that none of the data is "personally identifiable" since the user names were replaced with ID #s. However, the search queries contain names, street addresses, telephone #s, and even credit card #s and social security #s!

had a nice party yesterday night. until i had to vomit at least. well, my bad aim resultet in dirty trousers. back home i must have thrown it in the bathroom. dunno.
i got up now and i have real bad headache + i had to vomit again. after some hours i feel ready to take my breakfast. so i searched my ipod to plug it into the radio. couldnt find it. last time i saw it was in my trousers... i found my trousers in a bowl with water and cleanser. one of my parents must have done this. the question was, where have they put my ipod? so i searched again and after some minutes i got a bad feeling. took the trousers out of the water and found my ipod, my phone and my portemonnaie in it. :(

anyway: here we go:
First level:
[TMP2]The Lost Fleet
SombrA's map. After 3 minutes, Cooller was leading 2-0 when his connection just froze and he lagged out from the server. So the players decided to restart map with TL 12 and add the 2 frags to Cooller's final score.
Second level:
Phrantic
Cooller's map. Here again, after 2 minutes, score was tied at 2-2. Guess what happened ? Cooller froze again, but didn't lagged out from the server. So he just kept on playing after this freeze. SombrA took that advantage and made his way to 5-1. For the rest, just D/L the demo !
