scroll button broke, LF new mouse (8 comments)

I see there's a lot of mice threads. I'm very sorry for adding another to the pile. But if there's one place that has a lot of opinions about mice I think it's ESR so I'm very lucky to be here.

Anyway, I was rockin' my second G3 and the scroll button has finally given out. I was furiously scrolling through a site when the button began to miss clicks I guess. So now it takes me a very long while to scroll to the bottom of a page.

I was thinking maybe I go G3 again, but I'm seeing that it's out of stock or ridiculously expensive. It is a very old mouse and that's to be expected. I know a dude that is using a Rival and if it's good enough for him I could give that a shot. I was looking at the G100s because the shape is very similar to a G3, but it's missing the side buttons. No side button on left side is a deal breaker.

I'm not doing anything serious aside from unnamed MMO, but I have grown accustomed to a very particular shape of mouse; small, not too many buttons, does not look like a transformer (G502).

Alright, thanks for reading.

edit: Forgot to mention I'm using a QcK Heavy.
edit #2: Left side buttons, not right.

So...headsets :P (18 comments)

You guys always seem to have good suggestions.

Price range is 80-100 bucks (US).

I was searching ESR and people mentioned AKG, Beyer, and Sennheiser and using headphones+separate mic. I prefer a headset because it's one piece and not two that I have put on my head or in a cup. Something that can handle music and not just games.

Thank you for reading.

Mousepad: Recommend me one (37 comments)

I currently use a Steelseries QcK that has a completely dilapidated bottom left-hand corner. I liked the pad, but the wear and tear has left the QcK in a wretched state. Previously I was using the original fUnc 1030, but switched to cloth when the rubber base became deformed after years of use.

I would like to switch to a plastic, aluminum or other synthetic material that isn't cloth. My only conditions is that the surface is medium sized, works with my G3 laser mouse and has a sturdy base. A base that is actually a part of the pad and not a separate piece.

I mostly play WoW now, but I've gamed in the past and prefer using a superior product where the only mistakes in-game are caused by me and not shoddy workmanship. Not that I'm a pro, but I like a smooth surface that won't wear out. Perhaps my G3 would perform better on something a bit more grainy. My QcK is pretty rough at the moment, but out of the box I was thoroughly impressed by the softness.

If anyone has any suggestions or experience with a G3 and a great mousepad, please leave comments. Thank you.
