i just saw the mobile fone recorded hanging scenes of saddam hussain.. and its barbaric on how the person recording that goes and records on till he is dead ..
somethings should not be filmed .. atleast not like this.. personally i am against capital punishment and its horrible really to see life being taken away like this.

saddam was saying the muslim 'kalimah' of faith.. professing his belief in one God and the prophet Mohammad when the pulled the liver..

i feel sad..

and i dont really want a pointless discussion about the rights and wrongs..

Last week went on a family expedition to the sacred hindu temples. Its almost a 2 hours drive from Islamabad, and to be honest is a very nice trip. The temples themselves are in a pathetically depleted and negleted form.. its sad.. anyway here are the pictures.. hope you enjoy

great class that guy had.. and tbh the 2nd header in the final was pure class as well .. loved it .. lol

people should realise that he was such a cool guy that he didnt head butt the italian in the face but was considerate and targetted the chest..

seriously enough ,, i loved that.. now that is style .. he did what he felt like doing.. maybe should've kicked the refree too while leaving, that wouldve been just ace..

i hope the media doesnt get him to commit suicide though ..

still have to get the pay pal module working on the site .. i think i would hopefully launch the site by mid june.. that should be cool.

just asked bluehost (the hosting company) to upgrade the account which they have. Its a bit faster and more stable .. \o/

but well .. i would be running it for a test soonish

The EarthQuake and todays events (14 comments)
Posted by umayr @ 14:46 CDT, 8 October 2005 - iMsg
It was a different day altogather .. the way it began had something different about it .. these days its the month of Ramazan in the muslim calender and most of the muslims are fasting.. (for fasting u have to wake up before the morning prayer (around 4.00 am ) and have something to eat then pray and get to work or sleep) .. but since i had some work that needed submission today i had been up almost all night.. around 4.30 had food said my prayers and came to sleep.. but strangely enough even though i had been working continously for so many hours and had been up all night i couldnt really get to sleep.. then i slept after day break and woke up just before the earth quake..
the earthquake was severe had unbelievable power in it 7.6 they say.. and it kept on going for 6 mins.. the trembling wouldnt stop..

everyone aroudn seemed ok but the earthquake had definitely left some sort of a scar inside.. there was this uneasy feeling that lingerd on.. turned on the tv found out that a local apartment building had collapsed due to it .. didnt seem very real at first.. but it was real.. some 250 apartments collapsed while ppl were inside sleeping.. with kids having a day off from school since its saturday.. with most of the people inside.. and the building was a crumbled mess..

i took a shower had to go to work so got in my car took the safest route to reach office which wouldnt require too much traffic dodging.. but outside all the roads were blocked.. people were getting to the building for sight seeing.. emergency crews were getting stuck due to the massive influx of the masses.. but after a few detours i reached the office..

found out everyone from there had gone to the building to volenteer for help.. i turned on the tv.. on it were stories from people from adjacent buildings who saw people coming out to the balcony's of the other buidling before they all went down.. the storries were horrific..

the whole day people came back and forth from the building with new stories of horror, blood and gore.. we did all we could do sending water etc to the people who were trapped inside ..

while all this was going on there were after shocks and plenty of them.. very frequent too and quite strong.. tehy have reported 18 aftershocks..

people were helping frantically around the collapsed building .. this was all being shown on the news.. when the news of major damage around the northwestern province started to pour in.. there was news of total villages and towns wiped out of the face of the earth due to massive landsliding..

its too sad.. honestly enough.. the terrain in the hindukash and korakoram range is already too difficult .. and with such massive damage there rescue work is nearly impossible.. but due to our military presence in kashmir they are supposedly helping people.. but then again there were consitant calls on tv of people telling of massive death and people lying on the roads.. dead..

they say that in that area almost 9 out of 10 houses have fallen .. and with each household someone has lost a family member.. that could be seen around when ppl were leaving for those areas.. they had no news or bad news..

and the worst part about all of this was a hail storm has started .. and strangly enough for the first time in my life have i seen only hail falling with no rain.. but then the rain came.. and so did the thunderstorm with falling lightening and all.. the thunder when lightening strikes is quite unnerving specially when u have been through 18 earthquakes in a day.. and too imagine the people with no houses and loved ones dead around them outside on a landslide hit area in the rain is just so painful.
May God help us all..

Earthquake (33 comments)
Posted by umayr @ 00:36 CDT, 8 October 2005 - iMsg
was sleeping when suddenly i woke up and started feeling small tremors as they were growing.. i kept laying there knowing that it will get stronger now.. then it got stronger.. things started shaking and falling down.. the sound of the earthquake is quite scary tbh.. its a gigantic RUMBle..
i stood up.. and walked out of the room to check if all the rest of my family members were okay .. things started falling around.. and the shaking went voilent.. looked around for her.. she was safe with my mom downstairs.. her mother was safe upstairs.. everyone came down... didnt get out of the house though .. everyone else was in the street.. the reflection of sunlight from the windows was still trembling on the floor.. but then again the worst was over.. it looked as if the earthquake had gone on for a good 3 4 mins.. with the strongest part going on for 1 min or more.. then there were aftershocks.. there still are.. as i was starting to write this another one came..

cant do much in such situations.. sure hope things remain good for everyone..

well its not really religious.. but some people believe it is .. this is a festival of a local saint "bari imam" .. anyway it happens every year and a lot of 'malangs' (people who have given up worldly goods to attain spirituality) come here, along with flocks of people from all over the country. (we do have plenty of these festivals all year around everywhere). anyway to make it simple its like the WOODSTOCK of the 3rd world people :P there is music there are drugs :P
btw the malangs come here walking from all over the country and sometimes even the world.

Corporate Bastards!! (5 comments)
Posted by umayr @ 11:17 CST, 2 February 2005 - iMsg
I worked for 1.5 years in a multinational company.. i left it a couple of months back because of all the red tape issues.. today i recieved a letter
"
Subject : Final Settlement

Dear Mr. Masud,
Please find enclosed statement of final settlement of your account indicating Rs.28,685/- receivable from you. Since you were not a confirmed employee, therefore as per Clause 3 of Annexure A of your employment contract you are not elibible for gratuity and employer's share of the provident fund. Please also note that employee's share of your provident fund shall be cleared after receipt of amount due.

You are requested to arrange for the payment mentioned above within 20 days of the receipt of this letter

sincerely,

Director

"

and i received a phone call telling me that if i ignore this letter they wont ask me for this sum of money and i will have to forget my gratuity and employers share.. The sum they have mentioned is from double deduction of being 15 mins or so late to the office on a period of 1.5 years..

they say.. i have to pay for 35.06 days of work that i havent done at the office .. strange innit..
and well there is no clause in my contract that had anything to warn or say anything about this.. neither was there any warning letters issued to me.

Guess thats how the fucking corporations around this side of the globe do business.. I am seriously considering taking them to court..

Pictures:: Last Weekend UPDATE (28 comments)
Posted by umayr @ 12:55 CDT, 23 August 2004 - iMsg
link to new uploads at the bottom

last weekend me and my folks went to another one of the beautiful places around Pakistan :P its almost a 6 hour + 3 hour drive till there.. its called KALAM.. located in the enchanting valley of swat.. (http://www.swatvalley.com/swat/)

the place is mindblowing and completely breath taking.. right out of some fantasy book..

The valley has its importance historically as well since alexander and alot of older civilizations including the gandhara and the buddhist have been there.. till this date excavations arent really taking place and people keep finding coins and stuff in the feilds.. u can usually find coins (old ones) from the era of alexander at old jewlery shops for around 50 cents a coin till 40 $'s depending on its condition..

anyway enough babbling here come the pictures..

To make a Blog (22 comments)
Posted by umayr @ 01:11 CST, 2 January 2004 - iMsg
While i was trying to help out a friend today, I found a way to create your own blog on your own domain for free in less then 10/15 mins :) Pretty neat.. here is what you have to do in 3 major step

STEP 1 : the script
First you need to download the PHP script (if you cant write your own) go here to alex's website and download the weblog_script .. The guy has put up an amazing PHP script for free

http://www.mylittlehomepage.net/weblog_script.html

download the zip file and read the weblog.php in any text editor..its damn simple plus you don't need an SQL enabled db.

STEP 2 : the hosting

Now you need a PHP enabled server to host your site.. there are loads of those.. i prefer www.t35.com

register yourself there and upload the 3 files you just downloaded in the zip (do make the necessary changes in weblog.php)

STEP 3 : the domain

This is an optional step but anyway why not .. Now you need to get a personal domain forwarder.. I've used .tk

http://www.dot.tk/index.html

Register your domain and link it to the t35 site (remember to use http://yourdomain.t35.com/weblog.php or whatever you have in mind.)
.tk has one popup ad which points to their own website..

you have your own blog :)

im sure there are better ways to do it ..

btw the above listed things might be useful on singular basis as well

How i learned Timing in quake 3 :) (46 comments)
Posted by umayr @ 16:45 CDT, 26 June 2003 - iMsg
practice is the key to timing.. once u've played enough u usually have a feel to time items.. but the truth of the matter is if the game is tuff and the oponent has more experiance its always important to know the exact time of Powerup spawns.. THEN the feeling fades away.. and u dont remain the lucky git u usually are :)

so well this is what i did to polish my timing skills ( they arent polished as yet :P )

all the digits in multiples of 5 are bold .. i use those as the base values to remember the numbers .. mainly multiples of 5 are easiest to remember.. and like the calculation gets so darn easy once u have actually practiced and have somewhat a feeling to this thing :)
and if u are a total newbie .. its nice to take a print of thsi and keep it while playing for reference.. u will get owned initially but then ud get good at timing :)
