For gaming mainly, movies and other crap too. Use them every day. Have HD595's, they've been ok. The state of play is one can hangs off my ear and the other is still attached to the frame. After 3 weeks it's got to be too much of a pain in the arse so need some new ones. Fire away.

Many thanks all, I ended up ordering Beyerdynamic 990's an amp and clip on for £200, so double my initial budget.

My reasoning: I was concerned with the Sennheiser design. Where my pair cracked it's likely to do so again. The Bd's have gto that covered, also the modular design were you can replace the pads and bits and pieces was a great attraction. As far as sound goes my current set are as good as new, the pads are tatty and they are in two bits. With a pair of Bd's this wouldn't have been a problem.

So with that I think I will have them for a longer period of time and save some money. So I splashed out and bought an amp which by all accounts does make things sound a lot better.

Just started to get weird lags since the last update. Where I have solid 125fps and netgraph looks fine. But every few seconds i get lags. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?

After ages I've gone premium. I had an epiphany last night.

I thought the amount of enjoyment I've had out of quake over the years is tremendous. Not just playing but also watching tournaments, etc. And for £20 I get extra stuff and more importantly I support the game.

For the hours I get enjoyment out of it it is well worth it. I waste more than that on a quite night out having a few beers. Even though I'm not playing much these days, it's still a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things.

Is it possible to view the ql site without installing the plug-in. Work don't mind us surfing when it's dead but they'd be fucked off if I had the plug-in installed, thinking I played games at work.

p.s. looked at a profile yesterday without any stats?? one match was in a tourney style they came 8th on a map which thumbnail looked like dm6 but was called space camp. wtf?

Quake perfection was summed up to me with cooller 2003. It was a tourney that jizzed not only skill but style, the epitome! I remember fox playing sick, red... (whose config I was eternally grateful for), playing out of his skin but not managing - Lexer, just omfg and z4 sublime and one of the coolest guys too play q3, fazz owning it up at times. gay but hey I like the game.

Personally I've played at an ok level - enough to get a good game out of third tier players (not ql third tier players). One where strategies count. Respect that some new guys are going to quickly come up through the ranks and be way better. But what the fuck is it with ql that it makes a big difference (bitching) my screen shakes like a shitting dog and you loose to players that can't even time and some can't even strafe properly!!

No offence to them, I can see they are trying but I can tell when someone can and can't play. In q3 they'd be pissed on.

It's way too random and fucked up. But I do love the game, just wished I could play on that level again.

The tube in my iiyama pro 454 popped about 12 months or so ago and I replaced it with a Samsung t220 syncmater lcd. Which understandably is pretty crap for gaming.

I also bust my mates ancient pc a while back trying to fix it and he's just bought a new one. I went round and came back with a free pro 454, lucky fucking me!

I've got dual monitors set up on one card, to get 125fps out of the ql I swap the primary monitor and disable it using ultramon.

When not playing ql I use the lcd as my primary, enjoying the screen real estate. It just sits there running, no screen saver, so I've decided to disable it and switch it off.

After a lot of deliberating how should I care for the crt as I really don't want to see this one go bang. Will swapping to secondary to primary, disabling, switching off etc, which is quite often, will this do any damage?

I've uninstalled the quakelive plug-in as it was generally doing my head in. I'm waiting till it gets a little bit more mature before I get back into the groove.

I was thinking though in the mean time that it'd be awesome if id chucked a defrag mode and also a fs mode in to the mix. Just so you could do a few runs etc. This would mean you wouldn't get over rusty with things but still have a blast.

Or even more 'fun' modes like freeze tag (sorry freezer taggers?)

The quakelive rail is meant to be easy to hit. So when I joined the beta program I thought excellent being generally a 40-55%+ rail guy in vq3 cpma. It was my best weapon, loved it.

So why can't I hit anything with it in quakelive? These days I'd be lucky to get 25%+ in a game.

I copied my accel, sens, mouse, graphics, settings from my cpma vq3 cfg thinking that it'd sort me out.

Does anyone else have an issue with it?

I'm sometimes struggle against noobs that can't even time and clearly have no strats. If I come across a half decent player I'm usually knackered. It's quite depressing =p

Dunno if it's been on here before, but check tag out its only 60meg. Puzzle style fps about 10 or so levels good stuff.

My style is jump on and wait or see someone waiting and join. Irc is a hassle, it's always worked until quite recently.

I'm just wondering is every fucker playing quakelive or something. You see loads of people on here going on about how fucking great q3 is and then the servers are quiet.

Germany used to be very active and I hardly see anyone playing, same goes for a few counties. Another point is as ASE is borked, I'm using Maxbrowse filtering through cpma and vq3. I'm getting 76 servers, it seems low to me. What volume of servers are other people getting.

Knackered my finger while bouldering and now it's in a splint. No quake or exercise or pretty much anything else for six weeks - thank fuck I'm left handed. Not sure what I am going to do about work, as I type quite a bit. Time off sucks as we only get crap sick pay.
