So apparently no one played this back in the day. Why did it fail?

Ok this is a bit hard to explain.

It sort of sounds like the audio code in this game has a 10 hz tickrate. You can notice this when quickly strafing left and right or by mashing +zoom. No matter how fast you do these, the sound effects are triggered at most 10 times per second.

This rule seems to apply to every object in the game and it sounds really stupid. Is there a way to fix this?

I've been trying out some of the newer mice out there and they all seem to have a really high lift off distance. That's not really my cup of tea so I was wondering if there any good mice with low LOD.

Ever find yourself in a situation where for some inexplicable reason your mouse doesn't feel like it used to and shots that used to be easy now take an immense amount of effort to hit? Players you used to beat routinely are now giving you a hard time or even kicking your ass. etc

So you double check your config and sensitivity and all that stuff, trying to figure why this is happening. Nope, everything is fine. Got the same old sens, acceleration and Windows settings. But still something about the mouse feels a bit off.

So maybe you try changing mice or mouse pads. With one mouse you shaft like a pro but can't hit rockets to save your life. Another mouse gives you back your rocket aim but now your LG is all over the place.Eventually you'll find a combination that sort of works, but it's still not quite the same as it used to be.

"Why is this happening? What am I doing wrong? Maybe Windows Update screwed it up somehow. Is my USB port overclock still working? Maybe I should try reinstalling the Win7 acceleration fix. And maybe also reinstall the game. Ok, I guess I'll reinstall Windows too."

I'm also wondering if there are any good alternative plastic pads out there.

So I've been toying with the idea of dumping my 19" CRT and switching to an LCD display. I've heard people say that LCDs have a better image quality, are easier for the eyes and that the newer models don't have much input lag. Sounds good but...

With the CRT display I'm using at the moment, I'm able to run QL and many other games using a 100 hz refresh rate which is something i really like. If there is any lag, I can usually get rid of it by tweaking cfgs and/or GPU driver settings.

How do new LCD displays compare to the smoothness of a CRT display running at a high refresh rate?

If you have switched, are you happy with your decision? And what brand/model did you switch to? :)

Any ideas where to get one? I live in Finland.
