The QuakeWorld 4on4 TDM league EQL has entered its 10th season and sign ups are now open. Sign ups will end the 20th of October with the season starting shortly after. The season will end at the beginning of December after which play offs will take place for a few weeks.

There have been a few changes to the rules, the biggest being the map pool, which is currently under discussion but will be announced soon. For those without a team there is a transfer section over at Quakeworld.nu.

Vo0 interviewed by SK-Gaming (16 comments)
Posted by zappater @ 14:46 CDT, 9 August 2009 - iMsg
Vo0 recently won Quake 3 CPM tournament at Dreamhack Summer and SK-Gaming made sure to get an interview with him. Talking about the future of Quake Live and Deathmatch in general as well as his current connection to Fnatic.
What is your relationship with Fnatic, do you even have one? You are signed on their site but you never play for them.

I played for Fnatic last year, in the United States and Spain, for ESWC grand finals and since then I haven't played any tournaments under their name and I am pretty sure, this tournament was all by myself. I paid of my own way and didn't get sponsored anything so right now I have no affiliation with Fnatic even though I like the clan, the organization as a whole cause I have so much history with them. But I just play for myself right now and I don't really consider myself a professional gamer anymore since 2005 where I had a awesome year with Fnatic and Painkiller but ever since then I haven't been really serious about gaming and everything.

Zechs talk Quake Live (13 comments)
Posted by zappater @ 12:18 CDT, 5 August 2009 - iMsg
Zech's weekly column over at SK-gaming has come back after a two week holiday and discovered that Quake Live is amazing. While praising Quake Live he also discusses why it is likely to succeed where Quake 3 did not.

The problem with Quake 3 was always that it was ridiculously hard to break into. It was my first ever online game, yet I have barely touched it since 2001. Why? Because I got destroyed game after game by people who had been playing online FPS for years. It simply was not fun. There was no way to tell the standard of your opponent until you joined the server and got lightning gunned into a corner and then mid-air railed by some Quakeworld veteran.
"I never joined a QL FFA server that made me come out licking my wounds."
