Dear ESReality, we need your help!
Warsow is up on Steam Greenlight, and in this light I'd like to ask you, dear reader, would you play this game if it were available in Steam?
If yes, please head on over to
Steam Greenlight and vote!
For those of you that are not familiar with Warsow, and not yet comfortable with the thought of leaving ESReality by clicking on the above link for some more information regarding Warsow, and possibly Steam Greenlight, let me quote some information:
Warsow is a completely free first-person shooter with a strong focus on competitive play and esports.
Set in a futuristic world and boasting a unique cartoonish look, the game avoids cliched gore and violence typically found in games of the genre. Instead Warsow puts strong emphasis on what we think FPS games should be about: speed, movement, control, aim and competitive ethics.
A perfect blend of skill and strategy, Warsow's movement mechanics offer a unique, challenging yet gratifying experience that makes Warsow the foremost skill based FPS available. Warsow boasts friendly community and is extremely customizable, offering almost unlimited creative opportunities for fans and modders.
And what's Steam Greenlight?
Steam Greenlight is a system that enlists the community's help in picking some of the new games to be released on Steam. Developers post information, screenshots, and video for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution.
Let's see if this adventure can get some servers filled up again :-).

Yeehaa, the moment you’ve all been waiting for is here! After a combined effort of over 16 months of dedicated developing by our amazing team of dedicated hobbyists, and contributions from our own community, we can now all welcome the next milestone of War§ow: 0.6!
As with every major release, there are many improvements. For the full scoop, check out the changelog. For a quick fix, here’s some of the major improvements:

» Models! All weapon models have been retextured for a more unified and modern look.
» New Gametype! Added the class-based ‘Capture the Flag: Tactics’ gametype.
» Music! A brandnew full soundtrack by jihnsius. 6 in-game songs and 2 new menu soundtracks for you to enjoy while browsing for servers.
» Prettier! Engine updates for improved and more realistic lighting.

Today with the
4th wave of Tek9 Sapphire Movie Contest movies came CHO Media's (
FrooP &
KILLME) "Megatech Body ID 501".
It is (as far as I know) the only Warsow movie in the total of 90 submitted movies, and next to that it is the first major Warsow fragmovie in quite some time. So I figured I'd give it some exposure for the greater good of promoting Warsow ;). Go have a look, and rate it!

There hasn't been much noise around
War§ow lately outside of our own community. We have been quietly working on the next major release (0.55), preparing some nice new features and improving on War§ow's style. A quick refresher for those who don't know: War§ow is (still) a
free and fastpaced cel-shaded cartoony FPS, inspired by a mix of classics such as QuakeWorld, CPM and Jetset Radio.
In the area of visuals, textures, maps, sounds and models plenty has been improved and/or updated. Weapons have been revamped, the HUD has seen some updates. War§ow will feature a real soundtrack, and some of the game announcers have been re-done. The engine has seen many improvements over the past months as well.
Anyway, this message is nothing more than a small sneak peak of what we've been working on. War§ow's development team has not been sitting still. Hope to see you soon!
For an idea of what's to come, I have attached some screenshots of some of the new or improved maps. For more detailed information on what's new, keep an eye on
War§ow's devblog, follow War§ow on
Twitter (
@tweetsow) or simply wait for the official release of Warsow 0.55 (soon©!).

Warsow 0.5 is finally released after a long time of hard work and a few release candidates tested by the community. With version 0.5 Warsow reaches a major milestone in its development. Feature-wise and technically, Warsow is now more complete, stable and polished than ever!
Some of the new features in Warsow 0.5:
» Weapon settings, armor settings and movement system have been tweaked and revised
» Weapons can stun players, making them unable to walljump for a short period of time after being hit
» Warsow 0.5 introduces AngelScript gametype scripting, inviting everyone to create their own custom gametypes
» Warsow 0.5 has new maps, textures, playermodels, engine features, visual effects... even a brand new weapon!
» Warsow 0.5 comes with new gametypes: Team Domination, Headhunt, Bomb & Defuse
For more details, check out the
changelog... That is, if you're not already
downloading Warsow 0.5!

We didn't get into this bar. Was it us screaming "Warchooo" on arrival, was it the fact these people have never seen people from other places. Was it the fact we didn't had our clogs on? We'll never know.

Crossfire's Devotii Challenge 3 hosted the first every major money LAN for Warsow in Europe (can't overlook the
E-Sports Stadium 2007 Series in Japan). This event was the perfect oppurtunity for the Warsow community to meet. CDC3 attracted crazy sowians from all over, we've had a car from Sweden, someone from Denmark, people from Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, they were coming from all over to show their support and celebrate this first event.
We had a fair amount of devteam members on the spot, long time contributors, and highskill players, all staying in Enschede in one cabin. It was a weekend of alcohol abuse, highskilled Warsow duels all day, hangovers and early games. Here is an outtake of the
Warsownews.net photogallery! Much love and respect to crossfire, TosspoT, the Warsow players, and everyone who made this CDC3 possible!

There's a new unofficial
Warsow Beta around on the net! Note it's nothing official or public, but the url was posted on the
forum so I assume it's not as internal as stated :p.
This is the first release after the official alpha (0.2) release of 2003. It contains three (unfinished?) maps and all weapon models, but missing sounds. Still very playable for a silent internal release :). So
Grab it and start playing!
SolomoNK:
This could help you to wait some more weeks until next public release :
http://promode.free.fr/blem/dev/wsw_050213.rar
Warning, this build isn't in any way supposed to be some kind of official alpha release. This is only internal stuff, ok ? ^^
I've played it a bit, doesn't feel really solid but that's understandable as it's far from complete. So don't judge it from this beta :p. The movement system is very interesting imo, kindof q2-ish with an unreal twist :) (the (wall)dodges). Can't wait for the official public beta :).
By the way I'm just assuming it's ok for me to post this as it is readable to all on their forums. And I'm not sure wether this should be a newspost or forumpost, as I don't understand a whole lot of ESR.
Anyway, enjoy...
