Question about old Doom ingame demos (2 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 09:16 CDT, 4 July 2024 - iMsg
Did the id Software guys make the ingame demos with mouse movement (vertical) ON? Which cannot be disabled through normal options.

Or did they use at the time some utility to disable mouse movement so it would only act as rotate?
I am watching those demos but I still could not figure it out if mouse movement was ON or OFF.

(for ppl wanting to play old Doom games in Dosbox there is the utility called novert which is (apparently)* disabling vertical mouse)

*I did not test it yet

Someone made a quite nice attempt at it. you find it on github, many liked it.

The good part is that they put the source code of the game as well.

Just another gameplay idea... (1 comment)

Not for competitive games I guess, just for fun

So I was playing like I said before, with having in mind a limited number of bullets/ammo before even encountering the opponent, for fun and to learn to use each weapon for any type of encounter. This I had first in mind.
Then I thought whatif
-instead randomly choosing before what weapon to use for how many shots, I would use corresponding number of rockets/SG shots/RG and *10 for PG MG and LG, based on the minute of the game
if it is <2 then I consider the number 1, so only 1 shot for RG/RL/SG allowed and 10 for MG PG and LG
if the game is at minute 2 or 3 then I have 2,3 shots and *10=20, 30 for whatever weapon I use

Not only that it require for the player to more vividly go for weapons pickup, and carefully calculate the shots, try ambushes and so on, but on 1v1 duels you would have much more gauntlet vs gauntlet action. And you would gradually have to adjust the game, spawning rockets and make the action more frantic the more you advance in the match

Dunno, I think that it would be quite a really cool game mode, and afaik it has not been tried by anyone.

Quake3 Remake (33 comments)

with best graphics

I know there was an attempt with quakelive, which went fine for a few years until slowly went down, but this happened 15 years ago and it focused on other things.

Here is why I think that remaking quake3 with the best graphics to day or of the future would blow many shooters out of the water:

-smaller maps compared to newer games, enough as we know already to give superb games because superior gameplay mechanics

Smaller maps work great with superior graphics settings because lower physical requirements. We all know that the main problem with implementing advanced graphics in modern games is that maps tend to get bigger and bigger (the best solution -adopted especially by console developers -to use many loading screens does not bode well with games either)

This being said, I think that quake3 could always be the most advanced game in terms of graphics if someone would want to continuously upgrade its visuals. Probably older graph-minimalist players would despise it, but if the game would retain the exact same gameplay it would not be such a big deal. But imagine the noise for all youngsters when they would know that there is a fps arena game always ahead of the competition in terms of visuals.

So I played Quake Champions with the XBox controller... (5 comments)

not in support of consoles, which I despise and blame for the downfall of PC games, since every development tend these days to be multiplatform (=build the game having the common denominator in mind, consoles, and then port it to PC so PC suckers -oops I mean players, I mean how devs think -they can be milked of their money as well, while being treated as the biggest fools of all across platforms, since they get the worst part of the deal in regard to exploitation of the game's potential relative to the PC).

But I used the controller bc I like the idea of experimenting with different input methods and different ways to increase difficulty of a gameplay. I also like the movement with a controller in general bc it gives me a bit more the feeling of realism.

Don't know if anyone tried this as well to play QC using a controller.

Here is the record, for anyone curious to see. I was listening to some yt vids while playing so there might be no sound.

"...the International Monetary Fund and both institutions have said they won't begin aid talks until the independence of the Hungarian central bank has been ensured"
Yeah, let the Hungarian central bank be taken by the international banks, they will care for the good of the fellow Hungarian. What do the nice Rotschilds want, aaa, yessss, the Hungarian, my dear Hungarian citizen, they will say.

I don't get it. Why do we want to be part of the EU again? EU starts to look more and more like the symbol of modern slavery.

So talking about immigration, AGAINNNNN..... bhahaha.
The guys do not understand why I do not want to let 100 Muslim kiddos play in my front yard. Maybe because through other things they will start one day fighting each other while breaking my things in the process and maybe because each part will call for reinforcements and generally I do not want to share my yard with them amyway?

So, here's the point on the matter with his so-called scientific approach on the matter of anti-Muslim Racism in the Netherlands, with which occasion I plead my case on immigration that someone around here talked about:

http://www.juancole.com/2013/05/sanctificatio...theim.html

Let’s just try to think about things without using numbers chronological dates and other pseudo-scientific arguments for a moment, because all it takes in this case is not history lessons but reason. Shall we?
So why would a certain ethnicity immigrate in another country in high numbers? There are two problems here: one is the demographics which if let by it can really overthrow the nation and second it is that because these immigrants all around the world they tend to unite and so they form communities, which are bound very tight by their ethnic and religious connections in a much more strong connection than the nation they put their foot in, because that nation do not feel the urge to unite their people because it is quite evident that there is no urge or danger of disband of their rules and their identity -well at least this is what they think, mostly at the beginning. This is why the immigrants have relative economical success and not because they would be natural or educational wise “superior” -after all, they are not people of great capacity and iron will, but people who did NOT SUCCEED at home. And Europe is in no way comparable to the American model regarding the immigration problem because the US was created by immigrants -and this is maybe the cause why the US became the economical and political superpower that it is today, by those many many different ethnic and religious bounds of various people -not different enough to start civil wars very often, and not united enough as a whole to not make the difference between their groups. This is why Hitler was able to make Germany the superpower that the country was in the beginning of the XX century, not by terror but because whatever his delusions point is that he was able to unite the nation.
If I’d ever decide to move in another country forced by the poor conditions in my country I’d isolate myself if not of all people then most certain I’d isolate myself of my compatriots who’s fault would be for me who left my country behind, and I’d feel ashamed anyway to form packs groups tribes call it however you want inside a foreign country, not ashamed like being driven by feelings of inferiority but by morale matters. But maybe this is just me not having the attitude of a loser.

The downfall of video games (58 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 23:36 CDT, 1 May 2013 - iMsg
We all know how bad things are todays, how hard it is to find a game that is really good and we've all been experiencing the dubious enthusiasm that critics show for mediocre titles -name here last Hitman, Assassins Creed 2/3, Mass Effect/whatever, the abominable Far Cry 3 and Co. Erik Kain's excuse when he is saying that "This is no different in any other industry but for one fact: most gaming journalists are also huge fans of gaming" is damn lame. Film critics are also huge fans of films, are they not?

Critics should not be fans of, but should care about performance, in the professional way. They better have a good explanation when they are fans of a specific game. Every cocksucker can have a clue when he is watching a boxing match, but only if you are boxer yourself or a trainer you do understand the details, the subtleties of the match. Having the fans criticizing their objective is so bad, especially when they try to rate the game based on how good did the game relate to whatever film, as long as they are not film critics anyway.

What really changed in the last two decades is that gaming became accessible to much more people. In the beginning of the PC era, between 1990-1995 you could find most of the computers in schools. The PC was not accessible to the average clueless John Scissorhands unless he was a student. In the beginning the PC and the software were being part in the academic community. The fact that the games were more difficult at the time have a simple explanation: games were created by the same people, by intelligent people, according to their need and capacity. They did not care that the illiterate won't be able to beat level 10 because the illiterate did not have access to the computer anyway because he was too stupid for uni anyway.

The dramatic monetization of the video games industry is the result of mediocre people wanting to see their mediocre visions translated into interactive perceptions. This is in some sort a form of multiculturalism -not developing things to the extreme in their own domain, but rather mixing together as many common things as possible, to please as many people or domains as possible.

Maybe someone was asleep for 20 years and now he will finally wake out of the coma and will continue what people started to create 20 years ago. The future is bright, the future is... damn, I forgot the past, goddammit!

Why Roger Ebert was a hoax (13 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 22:28 CDT, 25 April 2013 - iMsg
This is his remarks regarding Christian Nolan's atrocious The Dark Knight (couldn't it be The White Knight, or the title would have been then racist?):
“The Dark Knight” is not a simplistic tale of good and evil. Batman is good, yes, The Joker is evil, yes. But Batman poses a more complex puzzle than usual: The citizens of Gotham City are in an uproar, calling him a vigilante and blaming him for the deaths of policemen and others. And the Joker is more than a villain. He’s a Mephistopheles whose actions are fiendishly designed to pose moral dilemmas for his enemies"
http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-dark-knight-2008

If having to chose between a lawyer -and we all know how lawyers are -and your beloved one pose moral dilemmas, then only Nolan and maybe God knows the difference between good and evil. Head or tails?

Regarding video games, he commented this: "the nature of the medium prevents it from moving beyond craftsmanship to the stature of art".

"The nature of art has been described by philosopher Richard Wollheim as "one of the most elusive of the traditional problems of human culture".[14] Art has been defined as a vehicle for the expression or communication of emotions and ideas, a means for exploring and appreciating formal elements for their own sake, and as mimesis or representation...
....
Leo Tolstoy identified art as a use of indirect means to communicate from one person to another"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art

"Ebert responded that the charge of prejudice was merely a euphemism for disagreement, that merely being moved by an experience does not denote it as artistic, and that critics are also consumers"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Ebert

Like it was hard to differentiate between the "standard" definition and what was all about when some used the explanation. He then confessed that he did not play video games.
Or how about the professional gaming, where not only skills matters, but it is ultimately the human expression, personality, perfection and imperfection at work?

So the guy was an imbecile. Sleep well, John!

Monotheist religions (1 comment)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 22:19 CDT, 4 April 2013 - iMsg
Religious people of today are the worst. They indulge the human character by trivializing all things they find in nature and in their spirit as well, by not letting science and normal social life to evolve and by negating their own existence when they concentrate all the complexity and the beauty of the Universe in the hands of a dictator who didn't create the man by his own image, but who was being created by the primitive man by the image of the tyrants that he so much adore and respects. Because when he sees a merciless tyrant, he sees himself. Proud of yourself, little man?

Let's take ancient religions, for counter-example. Ancient people praised the Sun, through other things, but if you asked them about the Sun they knew that the Sun was a cosmic object who's characteristics were studies by astronomers -however they called them at the time. They were trying to understand its movement by using mathematical reason. They did not convincingly said that the Sun was an entity having similar properties to man, in any solid respect.

The relationship between man and his Gods was subtle by its nature. It was more like if I say you that I adore Jessica Biel when I see her naked and who's poster I hang on my wall (in the bathroom maybe? whatever). You could say me that I am adulating her and then you would be right. How about the idea of thinking about her like she is a real god, now? Not so fast, isn't it? This is the kind of religion that mankind experienced in the beginning.

And here then there came the Jews, with their blind, deaf but not so mute religion.

In a politheistic religion, people may adore many idols, natural elements or who knows what, and this is so hard for the priests to put together. The hell, if you was born under the sign of the planet Mars, you could chose the God of Mars as your base God. Those were the good times when we speak about the democracy of religion.

The Judaic religion in change was so atrocious, and it was putting the fate of their neighbors in such great danger, that mankind in that part of the world had to come up with something similar, or worst. The monotheistic religion of the Jews was getting very strong because it helped the priests to rally a very high number of people under a single God. It was so much easier for them to control the population! The states with monotheistic religion became better
organized when they were getting united under one king and under one priest commander in chief. This form of superior organization was putting in danger those who did not comply to the the monotheistic commander in chief God. In order for the Arabs in the Middle East to survive, to save their local and cultural identity (something that they spit on now when we are thinking about their attitude toward our cultural identity, about our European cultural identity, when we think about how they come here by the millions to multiply and to take over our streets, then over our political life by votes and finally over our resources), so they were forced then by the Jews to make up from thin air a new religion as strong and as rallying and fanatic as that that the Jews had.

One day someone asked me how come that the New Testament is so much better written than the Old Testament. It is like are two completely different books made by completely different authors, he said to me. The answer is very simple. All you have to do is to look at times and reasons. The New Testament is much better written and it presents the idea of God in a less savage manner, proclaiming Jesus teachings over those from the Old Testament, because the New Testament was written by the Europeans, while the Old Testament was written by a horde of uneducated, primitive people.

The reason why the Europeans revised the Bible and wrote a new testament was that although they accepted monotheism as the superior method to rally the masses under less leaders, to concentrate the power, they had to free the European church from the hegemony of the Jewish church, if they wanted to be leaders and not slaves of the Jewish commander in chief priests. It was all about the tools of manipulation.

Ever stopped one of you to think about the similarity between the shape of the sword and the cross? Was there a better way to remind your soldiers in who's name are they fighting? Why should you be afraid to die when your king is sending you to war, if you are holding the cross of the God in your hands? You should fight until death for your beloved king and his priests.

Every miracle and symbol has its very specific reason for this precise and well orchestrated fabrication.

Religion is a disease, and from all religions the monotheism is the worst. Because it completely removes any spark of reason or influence of rational thinking when it says that the very cause for things is not many, nor a few, but just one. It is the most totalitarian form of religion.

The Cretin Club:
http://pvewood.blogspot.ro/2013/02/the-cretin-club.html

And now, some excerpts for teh poor:

"Romanians, like other people from the former Eastern Bloc, are highly-educated, conservative, Christian and European. Romanians come from a Near Eastern culture, unlike the Poles, who are Catholics and Central Europeans, but they bring with them so many qualities that the British seem to produce less often than in the past. Romanian women are womanly (and very often beautiful), Romanian men are virile even if they seem very effete at first sight. Romanians are family minded, esteem education and usually believe in God. Best of all, they come from a part of the world where the 1960s never happened."
...................
"Romanians usually have a very high opinion of England, based partly on books and films. I would expect Romanians to be disappointed by the reality of violent crime, binge drinking, feminism and innumerable rules. Romania, where people smoke in bars and say whatever they like about most things, is a much freer country these days. But no, Romanians usually love England and so they should. Things work in England and people are kind and honest, though the trusting nature of the English provokes wonder and seems naive. Britain is still a wonderful country and London is the only big city in Europe which is not a museum. The small minority of Romanians I spoke to who did not like England gave as their reason the number of non-white people there"
.................
"Unlike Tom, I think Romanian girls are no slouches at knocking them back, but with much more grace than some British girls. Romanian girls are astonishingly often beautiful - Tom is right there - and flirt with the charm and skill of characters from Beaumarchais.

According to Tom:

Romanians are probably the least racist folk in Eastern Europe which is perhaps not saying a great deal....However, two groups are not well-esteemed: Muslims, because of the country's lengthy experience of Ottoman control; and, in particular, gypsies because of their anarchic cheekiness and often disorderly approach to life's everyday matters.

I think Romanians are often fairly racist, but in an old fashioned way, like England in the 1930s, when few Englishmen had ever seen a brown or black man, not like America in the 1930s or Germany in the 1930s. It goes with attitudes like thinking most women who get raped ask for it and other things like that"
.........................
"I certainly agree with Tom that Romanians have countless virtues that the English have lost. They believe in God, they are conservative (all but a small but dangerous number of young foreign-educated intellectuals), they are sceptical of authority and they believe in freedom, not in the state. They are, like Gladstone, out and out inegalitarians. They have joie de vivre, even though things here are often very hard indeed. They know how to have fun. They read good books and give good parties. They are romantics and mystics, though they can be very cynical and materialistic. They are formal and polite, though they can jaw-droppingly rude. Dating Romanian girls, an American womaniser once told me, is like dating gorgeous 24 year-old versions of your mother's friends. He knew whereof he spoke"
.........................
"Still, the old country is not finished yet. I told a Romanian friend once that in my country adultery and tax evasion were considered rather shocking. She replied:
'It's wonderful knowing that country is there.'
She had a point. My God, how I admire English probity after fifteen years of living here"
..............
"I like the way Romanians assume other Romanians believe in God and are surprised if someone is a Catholic or a Baptist rather than Orthodox. I like their deep knowledge of their mediaeval history and their outspoken national pride, which goes along, unfortunately, with a degree of national self-loathing. I like the sense of common values and social cohesion, despite the lack of values and lack of public spiritedness. Everything in Romania is paradoxical. I like the way people are always scandalised (there is much in Romania to be scandalised by)"

"Text of author’s presentation at an international conference held in Feldkirch, Austria, September 2003.

It’s accepted wisdom that the United States, despite recent problems, is still the strongest growth locomotive for the world economy, the pillar of the global system. What if we were to discover that, instead of being the pillar, that the United States was, in fact, the heart of a dysfunctional economic system, which is spreading instability, unemployment, and depression globally?

No other nation on earth comes near to the commanding US military superiority in smart bombs, military IT, or in sheer force capabilities. The US position in the world since 1945, and especially since 1971, has rested on two pillars, however: The superiority of the US military over all, and, the role of the dollar as world reserve currency. That dollar is the Achilles heel of American hegemony today.

In my view, the world has entered a new, highly dangerous phase since the collapse of the US stock market bubble in 2001. I am speaking about the unsustainable basis of the very Dollar System itself. What is that Dollar System?

How the Dollar System works

After 1945, the US emerged from war with the world’s gold reserves, the largest industrial base, and a surplus of dollars backed by gold. In the 1950′s into the 1960′s Cold War, the US could afford to be generous to key allies such as Germany and Japan, to allow the economies of Asia and Western Europe to flourish as a counter to communism. By opening the US to imports from Japan and West Germany, a stability was reached. More importantly, from pure US self-interest, a tight trade area was built which worked also to the advantage of the US.

That held until the late 1960′s, when the costly Vietnam war led to a drain of US gold reserves. By 1968 the drain had reached crisis levels, as foreign central banks holding dollars feared the US deficits would make their dollars worthless, and preferred real gold instead.

In August 1971, Nixon finally broke the Bretton Woods agreement, and refused to redeem dollars for gold. He had not enough gold to give. That turn opened a most remarkable phase of world economic history. After 1971 the dollar was fixed not to an ounce of gold, something measurable. It was fixed only to the printing press of the Treasury and Federal Reserve.

The dollar became a political currency—do you have “confidence” in the US as the defender of the Free World? At first Washington did not appreciate what a weapon it had created after it broke from gold. It acted out of necessity, as its gold reserves had got dangerously low. It used its role as the pillar of NATO and free world security to demand allies continue to accept its dollars as before.

Currencies floated up and down against the dollar. Financial markets were slowly deregulated. Controls were lifted. Offshore banking was allowed, with unregulated hedge funds and financial derivatives. All these changes originated from Washington, in coordination with New York banks.

The dollar debt paradox

What soon became clear to US Treasury and Federal Reserve circles after 1971, was that they could exert more global influence via debt, US Treasury debt, than they ever did by running trade surpluses. One man’s debt is the other’s credit. Because all key commodities, above all, oil, were traded globally in dollars, demand for dollars would continue, even if the US created more dollars than its own economy justified.

Soon, its trade partners held so many dollars that they feared to create a dollar crisis. Instead, they systematically inflated, and actually weakened their own economies to support the Dollar System, fearing a global collapse. The first shock came with the 1973 increase in oil by 400%. Germany, Japan and the world was devastated, unemployment soared. The dollar gained.

This Dollar System is the real source of a global inflation which we have witnessed in Europe and worldwide since 1971. In the years between 1945 and 1965, total supply of dollars grew a total of only some 55%. Those were the golden years of low inflation and stable growth. After Nixon’s break with gold, dollars expanded by more than 2,000% between 1970 and 2001!

The dollar is still the only global reserve currency. This means other central banks must hold dollars as reserve to guarantee against currency crises, to back their export trade, to finance oil imports and such. Today, some 67% of all central bank reserves are dollars. Gold is but a tiny share now, and Euros only about 15%. Until creation of the Euro, there was not even a theoretical rival to the dollar reserve currency role.

What is little understood, is how the role of US trade deficits and the Dollar System are connected. The United States has followed a deliberate policy of trade deficits and budget deficits for most of the past two decades, so-called benign neglect, in effect, to lock the rest of the world into dependence on a US money system. So long as the world accepts US dollars as money value, the US enjoys unique advantage as the sole printer of those dollars. The trick is to get the world to accept. The history of the past 30 years is about how this was done, using WTO, IMF, World Bank and George Soros to name a few.

What has evolved is a mechanism more effective than any the British Empire had with India and its colonies under the Gold Standard. So long as the US is the sole military superpower, the world will continue to accept inflated US dollars as payment for its goods. Developing countries like Argentina or Congo or Zambia are forced to get dollars to get the IMF seal of approval. Industrial trading nations are forced to earn dollars to defend their own currencies. The total effect of US financial and political and trade policy has been to maintain the unique role of the dollar in the world economy. It is no accident that the greatest financial center in the world is New York. It’s the core of the global Dollar System.

It works so: A German company, say BMW, gets dollars for its car sales in the USA. It turns the dollars over to the Bundesbank or ECB in exchange for Marks or Euros it can use.

The German central bank thus builds up its dollar currency reserves. Since the oil shocks of the 1970′s, the need to have dollars to import oil became national security policy for most countries, Germany included. Boosting dollar exports was a national goal. But since the Bundesbank no longer could get gold for their dollars, the issue became what to do with the mountain of dollars their trade earned. They decided to at least earn an interest rate by buying safe, secure US Treasury bonds. So long as the US had a large Budget deficit, there were plenty of bonds to buy.

Today, most foreign central banks hold US Treasury bonds or similar US government assets as their “currency reserves.” They in fact hold an estimated $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion of US Government debt. Here is the devil of the system. In effect, the US economy is addicted to foreign borrowing, like a drug addict. It is able to enjoy a far higher living standard than were it to have to use its own savings to finance its consumption. America lives off the borrowed money of the rest of the world in the Dollar System. In effect, the German workers at BMW build the cars and give it away to Americans for free, when the central bank uses the dollars to buy US bonds.

Today, the US trade deficit runs at an unbelievable $500 billion, and the dollar does not collapse. Why? In May and June alone, the Bank of China and Bank of Japan bought $100 billion of US Treasury and other government debt! Even when the value of those bonds was falling. They did it to save their exports by manipulating the Yen to dollar to prevent a rising yen.

Because the world payments system, and most importantly, the world capital markets—stocks, bonds, derivatives—are dollar markets, the dollar overwhelms all others. The European Central Bank could offer an alternative. So far it does not. It only reacts to a dollar world. German banks destroy the German economy as they rush to imitate US banks. The Dollar System is destroying the German industrial base. German national economic policy as well as Bundesbank and now ECB policy is oriented on the far smaller export sector, to maximize trade surplus dollars, or to the big banks, to attract as many dollars as possible.

China plays a key role today

The biggest dollar surplus country today is China. Globalization is in fact just a code word for dollarization. The Chinese Yuan is fixed to the dollar. The US is being flooded with cheap Chinese goods, often outsourced by US multinationals. China today has the largest trade surplus with the US, more than $100 billion a year. Japan is second with $70 billion. Canada with $48 bn, Mexico with $37 bn and Germany with $36 bn make the top 5 trade deficit countries, a total deficit of almost $300 billion of the colossal $480 deficit in 2002. This gives a clue to US foreign policy priorities.

What is perverse about this system is the fact that Washington has succeeded in getting foreign surplus countries to invest their own savings, to be a creditor to the US, buying Treasury bonds. Asian countries like Indonesia export capital to the US instead of the reverse!

The US Treasury and Greenspan are certain that its trade partners will be forced to always buy more US debt to prevent the global monetary system from collapsing, as nearly happened in 1998 with the Russia default and the LTCM hedge fund crisis.

Washington Treasury officials have learned to be masters at the psychology of “monetary chicken.” Treasury Secretary Snow used an implied threat of letting the dollar collapse, after the Iraq war, to warn Germany about the risk of trying to be too close to France with the Euro. Some weeks after the dollar had fallen sharply, and German export industry was screaming pain, Snow reversed his stand and the dollar stabilized. Now the dollar again rises as foreign money flows back in.

But debt must be repaid you say? Does it ever? The central banks just keep buying new debt, rolling the old debts over. The debts of the USA are the assets of the rest of the world, the basis of their credit systems!

The second key to the Dollar System deals with poorer debtor countries. Here the US influence is strategic in the key multilateral institutions of finance—World Bank and IMF, WTO. Entire countries like Argentina or Brazil or Indonesia are forced to devalue currencies relative to the dollar, privatize key state industries, cut subsidies, all to repay dollar debt, most often to private US banks. When they resist selling off their best assets, tehy are charged with being corrupt. The growth of offshore money centers in the Caribbean, a key part of the drug money cycle, is also a direct consequence of the decisions in Washington in the 1970′s and after, to deregulate financial markets and banks. As long as the dollar is the global currency, the US gains, or at least its big banks.

This is a kind of Dollar Imperialism more slick than anything the British Empire even dreamed of. It is a part of the current America “Empire” debate no one mentions. Instead of the US investing in colonies like England to earn profits on the trade, the money comes from the client states into the US economy. The problem is that Washington has allowed this perverse system to get out of all control to the point today it threatens to bring the entire world to the point of collapse. Had the US instead promoted long-term policy of investing in the economic growth and self-sufficiency of countries like Argentina or Congo, rather than bleeding them in repayment of unpayable dollar debts, the world would look far less unstable today.

The internal debt bomb in the USA

The question is if the Dollar System is reaching its real limits? The Dollar System for the past 30 years has been built on growing dollar debt. What if the rest of the world decides it no longer wants to give its savings to the US Treasury to finance its deficits or its wars? What if China decides that it should diversify its risk by buying Euro debt? Or Japan or Russia? That day may come sooner than we think.

In addition to colossal debts to the rest of the world, the US internal debt burdens have reached alarming levels in the past three decades, especially the past decade.

The total US debt—public and private—has more than doubled since 1995. It is now officially over $34 trillion. It was just over $16 trillion in 1995, and “only” $7 trillion in 1985. Most alarming it has grown faster than income to service it, or GDP.

Since the Asia crisis in 1998, the US debt situation has exploded. The heart of the debt explosion is in US private consumer debt. And the heart of consumer debt is the home mortgage debt growth, helped by two semi-government agencies—Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Since 2001 and the collapse of the stock market wealth, the Federal Reserve has cut interest rates 13 times to a 45 year low.

US Households took on new home mortgage debt in the first six months this year at an annual rate of $700 billion, double the debt growth in 2000. Total mortgage debt in the US totals just under $5 trillion, double the debt in 1996. It has grown far faster than personal income per capita. That is larger than the GDP of most nations.

The aim has been to inflate a housing speculation market in order to keep the economy rolling. The cost has been staggering new debt levels. Because it was created with record low interest rates, when rates again rise, millions of Americans will suddenly find the burden impossible, especially as unemployment rises. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac combined guarantee $3 trillion in US home mortgages. The US banking system holds much of their bonds. When the housing bubble collapses, a new banking crisis is pre-programmed as well, with JP Morgan/Chase, Wells Fargo and BankAmerica the worst.

The US economy has only managed to avoid a severe recession since the collapse of the stock market three years ago, by a record amount of consumer borrowing. “Shop until you drop” is a popular American expression. The Federal Reserve has pushed interest rates down to 1%, the lowest in 45 years. The aim is to keep the cost of the debt low such that families continue to borrow, in order to spend! Some 76% of the US economy GDP today is consumer spending. And most of that is tied to a record boom in home buying.

But the rate of new debt growth among families is rapidly reaching alarm levels, while the overall manufacturing economy continues to stagnate or decline. Today US factories only operate at 74% of capacity, near historic lows. With so much unused capacity, there is little chance companies will soon invest in new factories or jobs. They are going to China.

So Greenspan continues to rely on foreign money to prop up his consumer debt bubble, at low interest rates. Were foreign money to stop propping the US economy, now at some $2.5 billion daily, the Federal Reserve would be forced to raise its interest rates to make dollar investments more attractive. Higher rates would trigger a crisis in consumer debt, mortgage defaults, credit card and car loan failures. Higher rates would plunge the US economy into a depression. This may be about to happen, despite poor George Bush’s desires to get reelected.

There is a limit how much debt US families can pay to keep the economy afloat.

There is no US recovery, merely a debt spending boom based on this home buying explosion.

Total US household debt reached a high in June of $8.7 trillion, double that of 1994. Families are agreeing to longer debt payments for basics like homes or cars. The length of new car loans now averages 60.7 months, and the amount of car debt financed increased to $27,920, and the average new home costs $243,000.

With rapidly rising unemployment and a real economy that is not growing, at some point there will come a violent reality clash, as the market for home lending reaches its limit. At that point the danger is the consumer will stop buying, and the manufacturing economy will not be able to create new jobs and a real recovery. The jobs have gone to China!

We might already be at or very close to that point. In the past six weeks, US interest rates have risen sharply, as owners of US bonds have started to sell in panic levels, fearing the bonanza in real estate may be over, and trying to get out with some profit before bond prices collapse. The European Central Bank is advising member banks to not buy any more US Freddie Mac or government agency debts.

The problem is this process of creating debt, domestic and foreign, to keep the US economy going, has gathered so much momentum it risks destroying what remains of the US manufacturing and technology base. Henry Kissinger warned in a conference of Computer Associates in June, that the US risked destroying its own middle class, and its key strategic industries via outsourcing to China, India and other cheap areas. Today only 11% of the total workforce is in manufacturing. In 1970, it was 30%. Post-industrial America is a bubble economy about to pop.

Fed chief Greenspan even warned China about the rate of its trade increase with the US, pressuring China to upvalue the Renminbi to make its goods less competitive in dollar markets, and slow the job loss. But this is dangerous. China holds $340 billion in US Treasury bonds and other reserve assets. The US needs the Chinese dollar savings to finance its soaring deficits.

It is caught in its own web: American jobs, hi-tech jobs as well as factory jobs, are vanishing permanently as US factories source to China, India or other cheap areas. If Washington pressures China and others to cut back exports they risk to kill the goose that lays golden dollar eggs. Who will buy that growing Government dollar debt? Private bond traders are desperately trying to sell their US bonds. Germany can only buy so much dollar debt, also Japan.

The US waged war in Iraq not out of fundamental strength but fundamental weakness. It is economic weakness however, not military.

Oil and food, and money as strategic weapon

The fundamental reason for the Iraq war, beyond agendas of Richard Perle or other hawks, is hence, strategic in my view. US economic hegemony in this distorted Dollar System increasingly depends on a rising rate of support from the rest of the world to sustain US debt levels. Like the old Sorcerers’ Apprentice. But the point is past where this can be gotten easily. That is the real significance of the US shift to unilateralism and military threats as foreign policy. Europe can no longer be given a piece of the Third World debt pie as in the 1980′s. Japan has to cough up even more, as does China now.

Even ordinary Americans have to give up their pension promises. If the Dollar System is to remain hegemonic, it must find major new sources of support. That spells likely destabilization and wars for the rest of the world.

Could it be that in this context, some long-term thinkers in Washington and elsewhere have devised a strategy of establishing US military control of all strategic sources of oil for the one potential power rival, Eurasia, from Brussels to Berlin to Moscow and Beijing? The dollar vulnerability and debt problems are well known in leading policy circles.

As Henry Kissinger once noted, “Who controls the food supply controls the people; who controls the energy can control whole continents; who controls money can control the world.”

fuck a women all night without having orgasms if you are in a normal* healthy state, that porno stuff is just stupid. Maybe I'm just stating the obvious, but there are kids here as well who lack any sort of experience and they believe in what they see on the TV.

Even more, the duration is in direct relation to your interest for the girl and on how you receive her sexuality. If she is like the Goddess Princess of All the Fuckin Girls that you have dreaming for for weeks or months without touching yourself, once she will enter the room naked you will finish the battle in severe admission in less than a minute, for the 1st time. You can ask her to go for handjob and blowjob for the 1st and 2nd round of hostilities, and then you can do your activity for some time, but unless you can't control your body and go for masturbation few times a day, if you are normal you can't resist more than a few minutes if you are really attracted to the girl.

I see there adult movies with guys having hard times to have an erection against gorgeous women. This is the very sentence of sexual incompetence, and they could mistakenly be taken as impotents of homosexuals, but they are just having a bit too much sex, and quite sure that's more than they can support in natural state, these guys should take a break. Talking the general definition of "less is more".

Even more, I know some hot women who would perceive men's inability to have an orgasm in less than 5 minutes as a sign that she is not to be liked or liked anymore. Asking their partners what's wrong when they do not have an orgasm after 3 minutes of having sex is not an uncommon thing out there. The hell I would not stand against Jessica Biel if she'd be in perfect fight condition more than a minute.

Happy whatever to you out there, all! :p

Getting in the Mood (weighlifting etc.) (131 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 16:14 CDT, 1 October 2012 - iMsg
Not the story of Dorian Yates.
The truth is this: some people are stronger and bigger than the other, but when we are talking about progresses and having to deal with incredible muscular mass and strength, nobody is "natural gifted".

In 19 years I've seen hundreds if not thousands of people lifting weights, and I don't recall one single person who was benchpressing his bodyweight x 2 or squatting 2.5-3 times his bodyweight without steroids. With one single exception, and that's me. The reason I am telling this is that I have something that some people wishing to experiment might consider valuable prove: my opinion or advice on how to be able to lift many times your bodyweight without using steroids, based on something that people that lift that much don't have, and this is the experience on doubling or tripling the power of your body without doping. And this is why you should throw all those "scientifical" articles you can find in any bodybuilding magazine right into the trash bin. The guys who give advice to beginners on how to have constant progresses for years to come have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE regardless their activity in this sport for decades. As a matter of fact, every time I was concentrating on one single probe to achieve remarkable results, I was contacted by these "experienced" guys and they asked me without exception about the doping program that I supposedly followed.

When I started to train I had very fast good results, but as months went by the progresses went smaller, till I was close to stagnating. If I benchpressed 80 kgs for 6 reps after one year of training, starting from benchpressing 50 kgs for 2 reps in my 1st day of training, it took me another two years to be able to make 2-3 reps with 100 kgs. As time went by, I realized that in order to get good at one task you have to do only that or concentrate as much energy as possible on that specific task.

So in order to get close and then up to benchpressing 140-145 kgs I had to benchpress between 8-10 to 20 sets of 1 to 3 reps with maximal weight, 6 and even 7 days a week. In order to be able to do 20 sets with maximal weight I had to increase the pause between sets up to 5 minutes. It took me close to 2 hours a day only to do benchpress. This a lot of time.

The particularity of any body is this: the body is strong when the muscles are stimulated, and it gets to conserve the energy and throw away muscles when the forces that are forcing the body are gone. There are some extremely strong guys in one discipline or another, but they can't be in all. One strong at benchpress is weak at squats, and so on. All use steroids to "equalize" their performances. My particularity is deadlift, I can deadlift 220 kgs without exercising this particular activity for months. But if I do not benchpress for 2 weeks I get up to 10 kgs weaker at benchpress and if I'd not go for benchpress at all I would not be able to lift more than 80-90 gks..

Also regarding bodybuilding, things are same. If I start doing biceps curls every day for 1 hour a day in about 7-8 days my arms will get bigger, but I do not want to spend 8 hours every day just to keep all my muscles pumped up. Without steroids, the body lacking those substances that keep the muscles filled with water, muscles tend to regain their natural state as soon as possible. Of course that training your muscles twice a week will have benefits and you will keep your body in shape, but you are not gonna get big like you see those people in bodybuilding magazines and you won't have formidable performances this way.

Bottom line is that you won't get the performances you see in mass-media those guys have not because they would be natural gifted but because even if you have the most talented muscles-oriented body you cannot train your entire body for 10 hours a day to get and keep all the muscles in exceptionally shape, without getting overtrained or having your mental readiness warned out and that there is no miraculous solution to get you achieve high standards.

The story of bodybuilding after Eugene Sandow died is one of the biggest fraud ever still going on. Don't bite the bait of those who say that "this is possible" and "they have genetics" or that they follow "special diets", all is just a big sack of lies. The answer lays in specific training, and none do it for long enough or have the proper mental strength and the right body in general to follow one to get as good as those fake sportsmen called the champions.

So what, you think... (No comments)

that you can do better?

I think that this is the most used formula by mediocrity when someone is talking in (perceived) negative ways abt. movies, books, Sandra Cocklock etc. This question.

Found through my archives one simple answer written in dubious english, as usual:

Criticising is not a matter of taste but a matter or austerity.
It is ok if you have high expectations. Most people like to pretend they have it too. As long as your expectations doesn't go too high, above their average opinion, you are not endangered by irrational opposition. Don't you dare cross the line between triviality -which basically pushes you into deception -and your own horror when you face things you dislike, or you'll automatically become non-grata person, the despiteful/despicable.
Why would they ask people to respect their opinion when it is very clear that they don't do the same? Asking for someone not to criticize is disrespect for another entitled opinion.
Nietzschenian will at its best.

A few games to mess around with (33 comments)

Nexuiz 2012

Not very spectacular and nowhere close to quake in terms of gameplay, movement and tactics, far from perfection but it deserves a bit of attention if you want to play a fast shooter that is using cryengine 3 and you like to have quick access to modifications. Modified pretty easy running speed, damage done by weapons and messing around with other stuff. All cfgs and scripts are inside paks. Too few maps and don't have the editor, unfortunately.

Warlock Master of the Arcane

Nice Russian turned-based rpg- strategy .
You can choose there the size of the map and there are a lot of options available in the game regarding buildings and troops. Strategy wise, I could really see how dispersing my troops despite them being in high numbers affected my general offensive campaign, nice done there. A profesional review is saying that the matches go as long as it takes, till someone wins. I played a match that ended up just showing the final message announcing me that some wizard won the game, although I did not even had the opportunity to fight him.
[ED]
Seems there are 4 factors that can decide a win:
-conquest the map
-cast Unity spell
-defeat an Avatar (spawned by a God in revenge for your -100 relation to him)
-Holy sites -build cities on more than 50% of all the holy sites
obs: you can deactivate the extra three in the beginning, if you have at least patch 1.2 installed

Resonance

Quite ok quest having 2D graphics and stuff.
The moment you hack into someone's account by using the option to reset his password on the server and then accessing local database to open his already opened email was nice. Unlike most of the pseudo-hacking options you see these days in games, toying around some fashionable graphics and non-sense numbers.

Bring different skills closer in QL duel (28 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 05:56 CDT, 19 August 2012 - iMsg
I was looking for the QL thread talking abt QL innovations but could not find it, why not major? Anyway.

I think that it is an accurate observation that most of the players' remark when they lose against their opponent, putting away the regular excuse -that they are drunk or had bad luck -is about their aim, "my rail was sh1t this match" or "I couldn't hit anything with my LG".

As there is a big gap between pros, good players, medium players and beginners, how about creating a few special servers with possible matches between all skillset players, using the following formula, kinda:

Calculate the difference between the aiming of the two duelers on regular servers, based on the statistics in the QL and based on the amount of time the players use with their weapons, and then modify the values of starting health and picked up armor and health, to add to the weaker player at least half the difference that there is between the proportion of their aim? Or it can just use ELO system, and use different test servers till people find out which is the best value (proportion) to be used to give still a bit of advantage to the better player -because penalizing the better player for his better game would be plain stupid.

Let's say that I am ELO 666 and rapha is ELO 12 (according to his age). Then he will start with a good 140 health and for him the values of RA and MH will be 160 and respectively 200 while for me the values will stay to default.

Kind of like the option to play using the handicap, but use elaborate formulas on those servers, while keeping the gameplay basically the same (contrary to the idea of handicap which might make the stronger opponent powerless against killspawns with the RG).

"...when you think of the rise of crack cocaine during the Reagan era, wasn’t it an exact corollary to the fall of African-American opportunity and the disintegration of the social safety net? The government produced failure and insecurity, and crack buffered the results (and proved a boon to a burgeoning prison-industrial complex). Likewise, the drug-taking that exploded in the 1960s helped undermine the radical movements of that era. Drugs aren’t a goad to action, but a deadening alternative to it. Maybe all those zombies everywhere in popular culture nowadays are trying to say something about that"

So I've experienced the coldest winters ever for the last 3 or 4 years, with minus 18 and minus 20 degrees Celsius, going on constantly week after week.
This year I'd say the overall temperature was about 4-5 degrees Celsius for the first 5 months. Today, middle of May, the temperature was about 22, but it was a shiny day, one of the few warm days.

How's the weather there, is the global warming giving you cold shakes there as well?

Inferiority of the Security guys (No comments)

"as soon as they started to call for regime change the police rushed in and started beating people with canes"
(Syria, 2012)

You have to show a bit of understanding for the poor policemen here. They have learned that they are better people (even dogs at home do the same, if you feed them better than you feed other dogs, the fat dogs think they are superior to the rest of the dogs).

So after they have been learned that they are superior to the usual citizen, the usual citizen comes in and proves without a doubt that he is in fact the superior one. How is this happening? By declaring his dissidence to the regime, in a quite simple antagonistic move, the citizen becomes a free person, while the security guy remains the same slave who is continuing to suck dictator's socks for personal interest only. It is shown to the security guy that he is inferior to the citizens, right in his face.

This is not fidelity, but something dictators bet on, when they choose these low intelligence creatures to defend their interests (which is why they will all finally fall, you can't survive forever with an army of imbeciles under your command). This is cruel, satanic, egoistic desire for revenge. To the security guy, this is personal!

Long gone are the days when I have been telling to arqon how mess of a code he has been doing in the vq3 era! And practically all the losers and addfriendomaniacs jumped on me, with great energy, in order to support one of the few guys with great popularity, who was addressing them his sympathy, making them feel so important. Is it something there poor people would not do, for a bit of chocolate?

And the days when I have been telling to 2good that he has no clue on what he was commentating, are going by with every hour. He still don't have a clue. That's why he continues to give "professional" insight on t4 matches, with comments like this: "now he has a few more seconds and then he must go for the YA". T4 is not dm6, jeez!

And then there was a guy I never even heard about, Trance Do The Monkey Dance, which many who sees him feel the imperious need to dance on his singings. The idiot was making dubious claims, regarding my capacity to understand anything about QL, while using an aggressive and totally disrespectful tone. Like most of the Romanian clueless folks use to do around here.
Followed of course by one more ass kisser, Funny Wants 2 Be, who without even noticing from my picture that I am more german than many germans and more white than most white people around here, tried some sort of racist insult? In the past, this guy used to say something, is it that the age took on him now very fast, whadda heck?

To all the idiots around here, who make alliances and form enemies, I found a nice link, speaking right about there problem:

"...In the execution of such a plan, nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded"

"...The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave." applies to relationships between individuals, as well. Welcome back, you, the dead man walking, who never really leaved the building

I Told You So, Syria (37 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 18:24 CST, 2 March 2012 - iMsg
Do you guys believe the "I Told You So" story is good?
Because I do not believe it, especially when the guy who says it is a dictator.
In Romania, there are some voices who tend to moan for the old communist leader, Ceausescu, because the sons of bitches who are now into power are goddamn robbers. But I don't like to hear the words: "I told you so". I think that these robbers should be hanged by the highest tree, but I still don't think that communism was the right way.

Back to Syria. There are voices saying that the world is scared that if the UN will give arms to the rebels then the zone will be the hottest zone on the planet, or at least the whole situation will be very dangerous for Israel. "I told you so", all parties will say, after.

I do not believe the "I told you so" slogan is good. I think that every dictator on the planet should be strangled and burned alive while drowned.

Let's not hide behind our shadows, because we are too scared of our size! We all know that the US is still making the international law.
I don't care what will happen next. Given the circumstances, this son of a bitch Bashar al-Assad should have a taste of the US drones and the US satellites, for the sake of equilibrium in battle, if not for the better.

Obama wants to win for another mandate. I think that if he will do nothing, given the multiple occasion the US intervened in the world, the world, including the American voters, will consider him weak.

This is the easiest task for him, ever. If he will go on tough on the Syrian army, most of the foreign people will love him, as well as the Arab world -which right now is on rage mode against America because the whole Qur'an scandal in Afghanistan -the Israel will love him because he is removing the threat of the Iranian forces, pushing them a little bit farther from Jerusalem, as well as the American voter and most of the people from all the countries, they will all love him for helping hopeless people against a dictator.

If the US will brings down the Syrian tyrannical regime, this will be reaction of the countries who's reactions US is concerned about:
-China will go a bit upset but they can't do shit, because they do not have full democracy in their country, so they do not have the support of their population -and, believe it or not, if a political party do not have the support of its people, then the political party is dead walking party
-the Iranians are already against the US, and if they will close Hormuz they will just break lose hell over their heads
-Russia is in the same bandwagon as China is -the reason for Putin not going aggressive and declaring recently that his ties with the Syrian regime are just normal, is that he knows that the population in Russia must feel at least some sort of compassion towards the population in a country ruled by a merciless dictator, so he do not want to lose many voters

As you can see, US can remove this dictator from the power, the path is clear. What is Obama waiting for, [massive intervention from the Hezbollah won't happen, later edit), what remains is complete extermination of the Syrian people or the continuation of this dictatorial regime?

Restrepo 2010 (16 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 17:36 CST, 30 January 2012 - iMsg
"Restrepo is a 2010 documentary film about the Afghanistan war, directed by American journalist Sebastian Junger and British/American photojournalist Tim Hetherington"

One of the best, if not the best, up to date.
The movie focuses on soldiers, while presenting observations of strategical nature on the field.

You can see competent soldiers and officers working together in the field and conducting negotiations with the locals. This is not what we've been learned to think about the American soldiers -that they are all a bunch of clueless guys who like to kill innocent people while listening rocknroll. I found surprisingly good a platoon and commander officers that are bound together by this very definition: professionalism. Officers who definitively have more brains than the politicians who are conducting the general orientation of the war strategy, and soldiers who are above the hip-hop brainwashed generation.

It presents the American soldier in an unprecedented positive ways which even propaganda movies and documentaries fail to present. The movie gives back dignity and heroism to the usual US soldier.

I know that their preparation is not perfect. By the way they marched perfectly aligned, to the fact that they did not ask for satellite surveillance when they had to march in enemy territory from point A to point B, or to the fact that they did not use scouts, or camouflaged snipers, you can tell that there is always room for improvement.

But. Then again, the soldiers in Restrepo are not Rambo idiots. They are not out of their mind, they know exactly the risks, how they must act under pressure, why they are here and what they have to do. While watching the movie, you might find some similarities between these soldiers and the soldiers from Saving Private Ryan, and this is extraordinarily good. This is the real war, and these are the kinds of soldiers I expect to find in the USA army.
Semper fi, motherfuckers!

Is this jamerio's way of isolating jobless people's problems?

The funny thing is that not too many years from now, those who will lose more money and will regret more these decisions will be exactly those who asked for them to be regulated. Just like with the fed.

http://www.pollingreport.com/terror2.htm

Let's take a relevant example in there. According to statistics, [some of] the percent of those who don't agree with gov's procedures still want the gov proceeding in the same direction.

"As you may know, the Bush administration authorized the use of harsh interrogation procedures, including the procedure known as waterboarding, when the U.S. captured suspected terrorists. Based on what you have read or heard, do you approve or disapprove of the Bush administration's decision to use those procedures while questioning suspected terrorists?"
Approve 50% Disapprove 46% Unsure 3%
4/23-26/09

"Do you think that Congress should or should not conduct an investigation of the Bush administration officials who authorized the use of those procedures?" N=1,005 (Form A), MoE ± 3
Should 42% Should Not 57% Unsure 1%
4/23-26/09

This is not about forgiving, isn't it? Apparently 11% of the population, despite the fact that do not approve administration's strategy, still feels good with letting the responsable people go, meaning these people don't care, or they are masochists who consider that law should work against the population. In other words: don't mind my opinion, just go on with your bussiness.

Another brilliant one:
"And regardless of whether you approve or disapprove of the use of those procedures, do you think any of those procedures were a form of torture, or don't you think so?"
Were Torture 60% Were Not Torture 36% Unsure 3%
4/23-26/09

My personal opinion: 36% think that the prisoners just get head and shoulders treatment, while the other 1% can't decide whether the water should be cold or warm.

Funny thing is not the debate on the action of torture, because interrogators could use torture like before (in high secrecy, without public opinion acceptance) but how they struggle to make it legit, because they are affraid already of what might come after, when they will not be able to hide their actions anymore, because the high number of persons they plan to "interrogate" in the future.

Cowardice and nihilism in their full glory.

Communism increase (120 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 19:31 CDT, 25 October 2011 - iMsg
Hello, Sujoy!
So now I had to browse and read even more comments on the thread to find out what has been said in the first place, because some cleverboy decided not to keep the post.

For once, the so-called stagnation of this forum. But what does it mean? Is it supposed to go somewhere, achieve the surface of Mars or anything? Wait, maybe people wanna say that this forum has been going down!

If that's the case, you have to consider a few things. Funny thing is that if you bother looking through older comments on this forum, you may find a lot of aggressive users in the past, guys which would make most so-called aggressive users from the present look like sheeps. I think it would be quite decent to say that the dicrease of the quality of this forum is caused by old users getting older, not caring abt the forum with its discussions and not caring abt the game (especially Quakelive now), this especially because the game was going down for some time already. By who's fault? First by id's fault, because they refused to add crucial things to quakelive, like gtv. Because their pocket might be small, but their ego is big. And because the scene moved on. They, the many don't preffer quake, they preffer starcraft 2 and other games. If the competitional scene is almost dead, it is quite hard for the community to remain fresh and vibrant, whaddya think Demiscourge? So if there is a dicrease in the quality of the forum regarding its content, decrease in smart comments and interest showned by the user, users and admins should not wonder.

What is quite sure is that by putting an end to people's word by so-called moderation, however you wanna call it, is a political decision, which direction is quite clear. You -admins of this forum -base this political decision especially on two factors:

1) that people should not spam the threads with useless comments, especially trolls; in this regard there is the ignore function which serves us pretty well

2) that some people are aggressive, especially with racist comments all the way; well, regarding this matter you gotta admit that the esr users do live in real world so they have contact with other people, do hear things here and there; you cannot totally ignore history nor nuke what's going on outside this forum, especially the economical crysis and that fact that many of the causes however incredible might look, funny, after almost 100 years are still continuing to point towards the jews; please ask yourself in the first place why do people talk abt them and why evidences are pointing towards them; also as I said some time before, you can't ignore nor nuke a few millions of turks who are living in germany and will be more and more numerous, till the germans will represent a minority in their own country; think that all the germans will just acept to be overwhelmed? don't you see what gypsies did in europe and how many they are, at the point that some when they say romanians they think "gypsies"? it has been recorded the increase in racism tendencies all over the world, especially in Europe, because civilised countries are under siege by these other nations from Africa and Asia and they will fight for their right to keep what they have been gained in the long process of their evolution, as civilised state and people; unlike americans, the europeans don't wanna give away their history and their hard earned values, because they fought for much longer than the americans for these values, values which again unlike to the americans, were not formed with and by multiculturalism; connect the demographic factor with the recent economical crysis and you can see very well why this racism is (still) increasing; I don't think that shutting people's mouth will solve anything anyway, it would just probably become worst for the inquisitors over time; which finally brings us to the real problem, which is...

Sujoy. I find pretty hard to think that he did not decide to take action when he has seen the increase of true racism (why lie and hide behind trolls, true racism) on his forum. He might have a lot of things to carry on, he might not. He or someone has been pointing out these facts. So don't blame demiurge, for he is just the perfect puppet for what real politics want him to do. You did not think that a site who's founder is an outsider (from a pure point of view towards his origins), so you did not think that a site created by him would be let "let it be", once there will be "alarmant" signals of racist, anti-CIA, anti-government and generally anti-order behaviour, did you? Pls keep in mind that most of these anti-whatever posts, however hursh some might sound, they have at their base good intentions and in order to meet the quote you should aknowledge that good intentions represented by nice words could hide different things behind, while tough words might do exactly the opposite. So much for your language!

Yeltsin deserves to be hanged for accepting to be the leader of this political orientation on this which, I have to tell you one more time, Sujoy initiated, along with his helpers, but he -demiscourge -is not the initiator.

I have been posting on planetdoom for abt 3-4 years before moving to esreality. With one specific omission, my comments have been approved every time. But when I have been starting a thread in which I attacked id Soft., comparing the members of this company to preaching priests which do not follow the rules they preach, admins censored my thread. I did not use words with f* or anything, just said that id Soft. in my opinion is exactly like those priests in religion. It was my sincere thought and it was the result of my deepest regret for the failure of what supposed to come out a great game, Doom3. Their new game, Doom3 did not leave to most people's expectations: horrible graphics (brute stencil shadows and lack of shaders), horrible gameplay (superliniar and nonexistent A.I., weapons felt like toys), etc. Anyway one censorship was enough for me to left planetdoom.

I lived a serious amount of time under the communist regim (russians and their ideals...).
I am not a little kid to have other people decide what I may say and what not.
Here the site is now full of admins who just become traitors overnight. Someone censored once one image I uploaded in the thread where 2GD and the horde proposed to change dm6 for competitive purporse (michalengelo would laugh over their intention), when I drawed the map upside down (ironic post of course), it was long time ago, but some admins licking 2GD's balls were pretty much on that subject. For them it become personal.

If this censorship is part of some sort of grewing up procedure, I don't get it how can you prove that you grew up by letting other people shutting your mouth. What will you tell to your kids: 'I grew up, in other words I kept my mouth shut'? What new users, young users learn is that you can't say what you think else there will be consequences. You admins do not learn the people that they are in charge and that they have power, you just show the young people your power. This is a lesson of obedience. Wanna talk more about maturity?

So you see, none of the reasons presented to you till here are reasons enough! So...
Let's better talk politics. Because this is... all about!

From my point of view, being forced not to say whatever you have in mind is a form of restriction. Whatever people wanna say, you who make the decision do not let people telling me what they wanted to say. It is my decision and my faculty whether I wanna listen or not, maybe there has been said something of interest, maybe not. There has been a documentary abt americans these days on sum channel, just a few days after my inceptive 'americans vs europeans', and the documentary was saying that at the beginning of XX century one guy who was coming for the 1st time in USA found out that the level of democracy and liberty of the individual was overwhelming, almost unreal, by working so much for the individual, even against the rights and liberties of the masses, and this is the paradox of capitalism. Please in mind that when he say abt individual it is all about the usual individual, not the individual the admin, the boss, the sujoy. The power of the many working in favour of the many against the expression of the individual, which esr wanna aply now on users, is of communist nature. Talking abt USA again, does CIA know that a gaming site who's owner is leaving under capitalist regim and rules, is proposing itself to live by communist rules? In order to dominate people's mind you have to keep their attention and then to teach them who's their boss, and people's mind right now is on the Internet, some on this forum. I'd say communism-capitalism score on this forum is now 1-0. If this is the plan of the CIA, then I might say that they are thinking it all wrong.

Let me explain. So you admins are a wall I did not ask for (maturity comes pretty much against freedom, like someone said, well yeah this is some sort of maturity, for those who don't have an alternative and those who like to be under command and for dumb people who accept to stay between talking people, like perfect attention whores: I want to say something to people i.e., not to you, you admins should fuck off gently, whaddya say?). Till now I did not have much in common with administration, not even knowing who was admin and who's not. Now I find some strange guy who's ideas I dunno but the important thing is that I don't wanna know or if I want to know I should find out by usual methods, so I have a guy staying in front of me, telling me what I should read and what not. He is the new invisible wall.

And how ironic, russians are involved again )))
The communist blocade was great if you was the commissar and the wall of Berlin will grow again with the help of outsiders (Sujoy, go back to Africa where people are shot for having an opinion, seems that you belong there). It is not a racist comment, but a comment containing some much deeper sense, like the culture and the habits of the people who's genes you might possess, and which genes might be at the peak of Africa's problems. Am I just forming a new discrimination law, one based on genes or am I just using statistical science supported by solid evidence (the case of this site) and perpetual political communist orientation in Africa towards the russians?

P.S.: don't worry, if you will delete the thread I will post it again on other gaming sites, like quakelive forums

According to console players... (6 comments)

PC is at its end.

I find at least a good argument why PC games won't die. PC games won't die because if all game creators will stop making games to work on the PC, there will appear pretty soon new game creators, companies, who will take their place on the market of PCs. So the very first reason is the greed of actual game companies with background in PC games. They wouldn't wanna loose their 23.4% addition to their income.

Another good reason is that console developers base their development on the leading PC market . The console developers are peaking to PC market every time they have to build a new generation of consoles. A stoppage on the PC development would have a devastating effect on the future consoles industry. They could research on their own, studying what new hardware can do, and how does new graphic cards instructions work, but the costs for these researches would exceed their financial power. Consoles don't have the power to develop at the same rate with PCs, hardware and software wise, because their systems are limited to games, goddammit. Although console players like to announce that PC is dying, compared to the PC, by their very limited area of activity (pretty obvious you don't use sony playstation for CAD purposes or database management or industrialised production, the hell you can't even program games on consoles, only for consoles), consoles will always remain PC's little kid stealing as much as he could from the table where the big boys are eating.

23 August 1944 (2 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 17:01 CDT, 21 October 2011 - iMsg
This is the data Romania used to celebrate in the communist regim, as a symbol of liberation (23 August 1944 was the date when romanian army turned against the german army, in what people called at the time "The Insurrection").

Some historians agree that if this would have not been happening (germany loosing the romanian territory practically over night), the german army, thanks to the carpathian line of defences and thanks to romanian oilfields at Ploiesti, would have resist much longer against the russian invader.

The date itself contains a hidden message inside. I doubt that any spanish gaytard or even any great historian do know why this date.

The specific date was chosen by Stalin and put in practice by his intelligence, with direct reference to the date the germans were entering Stalingrad, two years before (23 August 1942). Stalin wanted Hitler to know at very personal level, very clear, that this was his maneuvering. It also represented the payback on what germans wanted to do to russians when they tried to put their hands on the russian oilfields at Baku, Grozny and Maykop at about the same time with Stalingrad.

Had to write it down now, till I will put these in order or even touch the text it will take forever.

So I've been talking with sum friends abt this Rage business. Excited? The recordings of the dialogs later on. Or maybe not.

First, I've been writing down (Alt+Tab) impressions, wishes for Merry Christmas and so on.

CONS:
-tracks are sh1t, too much left-right in order to supply the lack of a strong drive competition simulator, "so-called" difficulty I could say; there is present the lack of subtle differencies on driving stuff, subtle differencies which formula 1 simulators do exploit so nice
-too many enemies, too much ammunition, too weak enemies, damagescale works on player only; too easy gameplay especially because the automatic regen feature, but not only because this, see later

BUGS?
***Controls:
-when in tune mode, arrow keys have limited functionality (only working within the same option/car, can't go up to car selection, which could spare you to use the mouse, which you only use for pressing ASSIGN, REPAIR, LEAVE ); the way the interface is working gives the impression that the code on these functions is not complete -beta interface still in action?
-guys killed in the Sewers have money on them again, every time you come back from the Wastelands -poor dead people, mutants are giving them money every time they cross by

***A.I. and overall enemy problems:
-Return to the Dead City mission, the first time you meet an enemy sniper, after they are detecting you, soldiers use grenades at the exact moment you walk up the stairs; to be more precise, if you go down the stairs by ONE step, soldiers stop throwing grenades, and once you climb up the stairs by one foot, they are throwing grenades again, the whole process going on without having visual contact -enemy detection function based by direct player height detection rallying him to one areas should be changed
-A.I. grenades: although it seems that enemy has finished his grenades stock, after you kill him you still find grenades on him
-A.I. footsteps: Return to the Dead City mission, 1st time you meet soldiers their boots seem to be made of solid steel -fix the too loud footsteps sound?
-A.I. military troops talking non-sense: "lost target", without finding the target at all
-A.I. health unbalanced, making the usage of the sniper rifle and most conventional weapons useless, wtf 2 headshots needed (although you can kill enemies by two shots, you are dealing with what sniping procedures us to call "compromised position")
-A.I. military not responding after one shot with the sniper rifle from long distance, if undetected; falling down, getting on his feet again and continuing: "lost visual, no target..."

***General problems regarding A.I., player and thus affecting gameplay:
-movement speed is too high: normal walking speed in Rage is equivalent to riding a bike speed in real life, running speed is abt equivalent to the speed of a car, and going while crouch equals walking by in a hurry
SUGGESTION: if slower movement makes killing the enemy easier, then introduce some real elements in the shooting element, like elevation, windage and ricochet and you so will have a real difficult game based on real basis
instead of obvious "I wanna play hard" conception

-Underground City, the guy plays on banjo but makes no sound -either put sound there or make him just stand with the banjo in his hand

Obs: it is quite observable that the creators took a bit the liberty to borrow some elements from Serious Sam, Painkiller (number of monsters) and Bioshock (the abundance of water elements along many places) and MoH, CoD, BF (pseudorealistic weapons and so called realistic fights); too bad the creators did not borrow the slow peaced gameplay from Cryostasis. The fast gameplay really drags down the whole effort of the team which made the textures and the architecture of the map, because at the speed you are moving you can barely see any details; practically sometimes I use the walk button by pressing it once every two seconds to immitate real footsteps; if I want to admire some dirty corridor, a room or the landscape I have to walk like this, or not move at all, otherwise it drags down the whole sensation of immersion

OTHER GENERAL SUGGESTIONS:
===========================

***loading screen can be removed when entering/exiting sewers, if you code the loading process to work in the background while there is going the animation on with opening/closing/ doors or climbing up stairs

***Make the game playable in different rhytms, modifying the usual difficulty options (rookie, I am death incarnate, etc.) to different gameplays:
-"quest mania" be RE series style combined to Myst, almost no enemies
-"blood and gore I am lamer incarnate" be pretty much the way the game is right now, -"hardcore shooter" inclined more towards realistic damage, less enemies and slower action
-"easy on my age" slow paced shooting action for 100 years old people like me, 10x less enemies and ammo with slower movement both players and enemies, could eventually compensate with elevation and windage settings for the sniper
rifle i.e., Cryostasis style fights ftw

***Put an additional option in the menu, for those who does not love cars, like me:
-"cars sux", and put one/two cars to appear on the map, let's say twice in 10 hours of gameplay, and then not depending by player's position (so there be a very high chance you will still miss these cars); I would like to walk around by foot like crazy, like I always do when I play Oblivion, but the goddamn cars won't let me take a piss out in the desert, in order to not keep the landscape so desolate you could put some mutants to cross it from time to time, but don't abuse these procedure (let's say you meet some mtutants once every 4 hours of gameplay on the outside)
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, EASY)

***or at least inside car view

***Make the stocks of health and bandages really count: no life regen
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, MEDIUM)

***I understand that the game can't have day/night cycle because the map is compiled, not realtime rendering, introduce then some strong winds in the game, so sometimes the wind is blowing so hard that you barely see
much, like outdoor passages on Mars from Doom3
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, EASY)

***give the player the option to climb some of these turrets on the outside
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, EASY)

***where is the goddamn nightmare difficulty impossible to beat ? no regen, few ammunition, slow movement speed, hordes of monsters: nightmare diff, voila!
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, EASY)

**if you loose or are hurt when you play the knife, your hands will shake a bit when using a weapon, until you use bandages
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, MEDIUM/EASY)

***the more you go on low health, the more stronger you are and you do more damage (in order to compensate noregeneration)
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, EASY)

***Side quests:
wastelands town, the dead end street -reproduce Monkey Island mysterious door, knocking out and a voice saying some sh1t stuff
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, EASY)

***as the game uses gameplay ideas from other games, I really wanna find some sewers or locations with very hard quests, a la Myst
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, MEDIUM)

***it is time people end up with this BS controls type which makes you run action superfast:
-no more running fast while strafing; one step left or right, yes, but that's it , no more sideways running
-when moving the mouse left/right up/down you are just moving your head and your weapon in those directions, while your body remains in the same position -NO MORE WEAPON STUCKED LIKE A GODDAMN DICK PERPENDICULAR TO YOUR YZ AXIS AND MOVING TOGETHER WITH YOUR BODY IN EXACT/FIX POSITION/RELATION TO IT
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, FUCKIN' EASY)

***put a belt to kalashnikov and other machineguns, so you can shoot from a quite nice relaxed position, with the weapon hanginfg from the shoulder, pretty used style of shooting in real weapons confrontation
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, MEDIUM/EASY)

***make holstering your weapon count, so if you raise your weapon all the time the hands will start shaking and you will aim worst (holster weapon option needed to be implemented first, of course)
(PROGRAMMING DIFFICULTY, MEDIUM/EASY)

P.S.: to be sorted out better, will re-edit

Americans vs Europeans (30 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 07:39 CDT, 4 October 2011 - iMsg
Americans vs Europeans, Winners vs Losers

It is just happening that by some strange coincidence, I do feel much closer to americans than to europeans. And where europeans see stupid americans I see sum very smart fellows. What europeans achieve by routines americans achieve by style and even at talking trash americans are better, in the sense of having smth smart hidden behind the apparent nonsense talk.

And then I remembered how when I was a kid I grew up with local germans here. There were romanian kids here too, but I did not like their companion. The regular romanian folks were thiefs, lacked consistency in beliefs, actions and friendship -oriented more towards the tribes spirit -and even those who were smarter were not any good. The usual idea of "playing" to romanian kids was like: let's stay at that corner of the street and if any kid shows up, we beat the hell out of him; -oh, what a great idea! the others replied. At the time I did not know why I preffered my german friends instead the romanians, I was just feeling natural in the companion of these "strangers".

So you see, time proved that I did not choose the companion of germans for ethnical reasons nor by coincidence, but because we felt good together. Now from these different nationalities I interact with, I sense appartenance to americans. At 1st look you could say "that's because you are a traitor of your own" and the americans as a nation are very powerfull.

Talking abt the traitor stuff, I refused to join the army exactly because the romanian army was a shameful help to the Wehrmacht, constantly running away when they had to face the russians in the Last War, most of the time not doing the job done and on top of that they betrayed their allies in 1944. Manstein signaled discrete warnings that this would happen, when he said that any possible future aliance against the russians containing countries from the Balcans must not be taken too seriously -it is a local tradition here in Balcans that people fear the russians, like it is a tradition for Russia to fuck up these countries.

Talking now about the power. It came to my mind that maybe I like the way of America, their mentality, mental instability, because they are not scared shitless from anyone. Yes, they have their reasons, and yes, it might very well be determined by the so many causes, beginning with their geo-political position and ending up with their last war. This does not change still their mentality, quite healthy if you ask me, especially if you have supernatural powers like I have, the mentality of a winner. The mentality of a nation is very much depending on its history. You can see this in most of the people with the same nationality.

It came to my mind that europeans have this alltimes bitter, fanatical attitude towards ideas, towards people, on one hand because they are traditionalists, and on the other hand because they were under german and then russian occupation in recent years -a few decades can't erase history just because you mofos were born after 1990, and this is very seeable in your attitude. For instance, esr user tourist does have in his subcunscious the sadness of France losing so dramatically against Germany in 1940. Most of the europeans can't get rid of this claustrophobic feeling of being surrounded by superpowers and thus this their prime reaction is keeping very close together what they learned better.

You can talk this and that with americans, maybe have fun of their stupidity, but you can make them change their opinion and make them act rational. If you try this with europeans, you have to cross the entire Europe's history through thousands of years, in order to get somewhere. This is why you won't find on american forums so strong fanatical debates like on european forums.

Americans are different. They can be fooled, allright, but when they find out that they have been fooled out they will have their revenge. The speed with which they will react will be proportional to the speed they changed up their mind, unlike europeans who even if they realise that they have to change their mentality they will die of age before realising any significant change. On top of that, the american individual have more dignity. They have assasinated presidents, and they have assasinated their presidents too. A nation have to kill its leaders from time to time, in order to keep the belief in its own abilities and the power of changing things, alive. The distance between an american citizen and his president can be crossed with a few steps. The distance between an european president and the european citizen is of hundreds of years. Like Thomas Jefferson said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." I know that in the movie The Rock someone replied that patriotism is the virtue of the vicious man, but it was quoted from Oscar Wilde, who considered that poisoning other people is a virtue -the irony! The director of the movie should have read more books.

Final conclusion is that you europeans are not better than the americans but worst, that the americans won their wars because they were better than you europeans, united not divided, enlightened not pumped up with genealogy trees and the idea of unplacable fate, and in the eyes of history they are the big winners while you europeans are the big losers.

GL with your making fun of no-history lessons and mambo-jumbo trash-talk, tourist and the horde.

P.S.: yep, England is not Europe, their vast international connections over the centuries made them see things bigger.

The Atomic Bomb (36 comments)

People bitch and bitch abt the atomic bomb. All documentaries about war are cursing the day when scientists invented the atomic bomb.

Matter of fact is that the main reason we did not face yet the 3rd, 4th and so on world wars is exactly the existence of the atomic bomb. Else, since 1943 till now we would have seen many massive tank battles all over Europe, between the western countries and Russia. Because this huge scarecrow, great powers do not engage in conventional wars toe to toe. If the atomic bomb would have not existed, there would have happened Battle for Kursk reloaded 3 or 4 times till now.

Seems that mankind will never find a definitive answer related to the argue between Alfred Nobel and his lady (who was to be right?), as one of the answers will mean that the civilisation and maybe human race were wiped out, while the 2nd do remain valid and fragile at the same time, in the absence of the opposite.

"Afghanistan Peace Council Chief Is Killed in Attack on His Home

An unidentified attacker on Tuesday killed the leader of Afghanistan’s High Peace Council, a former president of the country whose main responsibility was negotiating a political end to the war with the Taliban. The attack was a serious blow to any notion of reconciliation with the Taliban.

Afghan officials said the peace council leader, former President Burhanuddin Rabbani, was likely killed by a suicide bomber in or near his heavily guarded home in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The assassination coincided with President Hamid Karzai’s visit to the United Nations General Assembly, where he was scheduled to confer with President Obama about the war"

LOL at the great spirit of combat of ruskies (putting away the fact that anyone on 2 l of vodka will present courage under fire for a few couple of hours and will not feel cold and hunger): fair fight all the way

"
OPERATION 'CITADEL'

THE PRECEDING chapter has shown that the winter campaign of 1942-3, which had started with the Russian breakthrough on the Don and Volga on both sides of Stalingrad, did not ultimately bring the Soviet command the decisive operational success for which it might have hoped.

The question now was how the German side should continue the struggle the following summer. Obviously, after so many major formations had been lost, there would no longer be the forces available to mount another crucial offensive on the scale of 1941 and 1942. What did still seem possible - given proper leadership on the German side — was that the Soviet Union could be worn down to such an extent that it would tire of its already excessive sacrifices and be ready to accept a stalemate. At the time in question this was far from being wishful thinking. On the other hand, such an aim could not be realized by going over to purely defensive, static warfare. For one thing, there were not enough German divisions to defend the far-flung front from the Baltic to the Black Sea decisively. For another, it was unlikely that the Soviets would take any action until the Western Allies landed in Europe - the danger of which had become all the more acute in the light of recent events in North Africa.

The German command thus had very little time left in which to force a draw in the east. It could only do so if it succeeded, within the framework of a - now inevitable - strategic defensive, in dealing the enemy powerful blows of a localized character which would sap his strength to a decisive degree - first and foremost through losses in prisoners. This presupposed an operational elasticity on our part which would give maximum effect to the still- superior quality of the German command staffs and fighting troops.

We naturally had to consider what action the Soviet command would take once the muddy season was over. Would Stalin wait until his allies had met his repeated demands for a landing on the European mainland? Though it seemed very natural that he should do so, there were still many arguments against it. Soviet self-confidence had undoubtedly increased since the big successes late in the previous autumn. Could the Soviet leaders possibly afford, from a psychological point of view, to call a halt to their loudly advertised 'liberation of the holy soil of Russia' ? Must the Kremlin not be anxious to beat its allies to the Balkans, the traditional target of Russian expansionism?

Assuming that the enemy resumed the offensive as soon as he had made good his losses, therefore, it seemed certain that he would continue to direct the main pressure of his attacks against the southern wing of the German front, i.e. against Southern Army Group.

The bulge in the German front, which ran down the Donetz and Mius from a point below Kharkov, embracing the valuable coal-mining and industrial region south of that city, was just begging to be sliced off. Should the enemy succeed in breaking through around Kharkov or even across the Middle Donetz, he could still achieve his aim of the previous winter and destroy the German southern wing on the Black Sea coast. (At this time Army Group A was still in the Kuban bridgehead!) By the same stroke he would regain possession of the precious Donetz area and the granaries of the Ukraine, in addition to opening the way to the Balkans and Rumanian oilfields, with all the political consequences this would have entailed in regard to Turkey. In no other sector of the Eastern Front was the Soviet Union offered such immense opportunities in the military, economic or political fields. The decisive thrust, then, would be delivered against Southern Army Group - a fact which, in view of the Russians' numerical superiority, naturally did not exclude the possibility of smaller-scale offensives in other parts of the front.

Southern Army Group had on a number of occasions brought these considerations to the notice of O.K.H. and Hitler. What the latter ultimately had to decide was whether the overall situation allowed us to wait for the Russians to start an offensive and then to hit them hard 'on the backhand' at the first good opportunity, or whether we should attack as early as possible ourselves and — still within the framework of a strategic defensive- strike a limited blow 'on the forehand'.

The Army Group preferred the former solution as one offering better prospects operationally, and had already submitted a tentative plan to Hitler in February. It envisaged that if the Russians did as we anticipated and launched a pincer attack on the Donetz area from the north and south - an operation which could sooner or later be supplemented by an offensive around Kharkov - our arc of front along the Donetz and Mius should be given up in accordance with an agreed time-table in order to draw the enemy westwards towards the Lower Dnieper. Simultaneously all the reserves that could possibly be released — in particular the bulk of the armour — were to assemble in the area west of Kharkov, first to smash the enemy assault forces which we expected to find there and then to drive into the flank of those advancing in the direction of the Lower Dnieper. In this way the enemy would be doomed to suffer the same fate on the coast of the Sea of Azov as he had in store for us on the Black Sea.

The plan did not meet with Hitler's approval, however. He was still pre-occupied with the economic aspects of the Donetz basin and apprehensive about the possible repercussions of an even temporary evacuation on the attitudes of Turkey and Rumania. But what probably did most to prejudice him was his belief that we must fight for every foot of the ground he had won from Stalin in the winter of 1941 and which had in his view 'saved the German Army from a Napoleonic retreat'. Besides this, however, he undoubtedly shrank from the risks which the proposed operation would assuredly entail. Inwardly, perhaps, he did not trust himself to cope with them, for in spite of having a certain eye for tactics, he still lacked the ability of a great captain.

Consequently our minds now turned to the idea of a 'forehand' stroke. An attempt must be made to strike the enemy a blow of limited scope before he could recover from his losses in the winter campaign and resuscitate his beaten forces.

A suitable target was presented by the Soviet salient which protruded far into our own front line around the city of Kursk. The Russians facing the boundary between Central and Southern Army Groups had been able to retain this when the muddy season set in, and it now formed a jumping-off position for any attacks they might be contemplating against the flanks of the two German army groups. The appreciable Soviet forces inside the salient would be cut off if our attack were successful, and provided that we launched it early enough we could hope to catch them in a state of unpreparedness. In particular, the enemy would have to commit the armoured units which had been so severely battered towards the end of the winter campaign, thereby giving us a chance to punish them wholesale.

And so we come to Operation 'Citadel' - the last major offensive operation undertaken by the Germans in the east. For this attack against the Kursk bulge, Southern Army Group provided two armies, Fourth Panzer and Detachment Kempf, comprising eleven armoured or panzer grenadier divisions and five infantry. In order to do so, of course, it had to thin out the Donetz and Mius fronts considerably.

For the attack from the north, Central Army Group provided Ninth Army, consisting of six armoured or panzer grenadier divisions and five infantry. The principal danger here lay in the army's having to assemble in the salient jutting out to the east around Orel, where the enemy might attack it in the rear from the east and north.

Operation 'Citadel' was timed to start in the first half of May, when the ground could be expected to have dried out sufficiently and the enemy would still not have finished refitting - especially his armour.

At the beginning of May, however, Hitler decided - against the advice of the two army group commanders - to postpone 'Citadel' till June, by which time, he hoped, our armoured divisions would be stronger still after being fitted out with new tanks. He stuck to his decision even after it had been pointed out to him that the unfavourable developments in Tunisia could mean that if 'Citadel' were put off any longer, there would be a danger of its coinciding with an enemy landing on the Continent. Nor would he recognize that the longer one waited, the more armour the Russians would have - particularly as their tank output undoubtedly exceeded that
of Germany. As a result of delays in the delivery of our own new tanks, the Army Group was not ultimately able to move off on 'Citadel' until the beginning of July, by which time the essential advantage of a 'forehand' blow was lost. The whole idea had been to attack before the enemy had replenished his forces and got over the reverses of the winter. At the same time it was certain that the longer we took to launch the operation, the greater must be the threat to those of Southern Army Group's armies in the Donetz-Mius salient which had had to hand over all their available forces and, most of all, to the Orel bulge as the jumping-off base of
Central Army Group's Ninth Army."

FINALLY, THE ATTACK:

"On 5th July the German armies were finally able to attack. Though every deception and camouflage measure had been taken, we could no longer expect to catch the enemy unawares after a delay of that length.

On the assault front of Central Army Group, Ninth Army succeeded in penetrating the enemy fortifications to a depth of about 9 miles in the first two days. After heavy fighting in which it had to beat off counter-attacks by enemy reserves, it managed to deepen this penetration by a few more miles up till 9th July, but then it came to a halt before a built-in system of positions on a dominant height to the rear of the front. Its intention of resuming the attack in a few days' time was frustrated by the enemy, who attacked the Orel bulge in strength from the north and north-east on nth July. To support Second Panzer Army in holding this front, the Army Group
found itself compelled to throw strong mobile forces from Ninth Army into the Orel battle.

The offensive in Southern Army Group's area developed more favourably. Here, too, the attack through the enemy's deeply echeloned defences proved difficult enough and made only slow progress. However, by nth July it had been possible to break through the last position into the area of Prokhorovka and Oboyan. During this time hasty counter-attacks by the enemy's mobile reserves were beaten off, in the course of which ten tank or mechanized corps were either smashed or severely battered. By 13th July the enemy facing Southern Army Group had lost 24,000 men as prisoners, 1,800 tanks, 267 field-pieces and 1,080 anti-tank
guns.

On 13th July, when the battle was at its climax and the issue apparently at hand, the commanders of the two army groups concerned were summoned to Hitler. He opened the conference by announcing that the Western Allies had landed in Sicily that day and that the situation there had taken an extremely serious turn. The Italians were not even attempting to fight, and the island was likely to be lost. Since the next step might well be a landing in the
Balkans or Lower Italy, it was necessary to form new armies in Italy and the western Balkans. These forces must be found from the Eastern Front, so 'Citadel' would have to be discontinued.

Thus the very thing had come to pass of which I had warned Hitler in May.

The commander of Central Army Group, Field-Marshal v. Kluge, reported that Ninth Army was making no further headway and that he was having to deprive it of all its mobile forces to check the enemy's deep incursions into the Orel salient. There could be no question of continuing with 'Citadel' or of resuming the operation at a later date.

Speaking for my own Army Group, I pointed out that the battle was now at its culminating point, and that to break it off at this moment would be tantamount to throwing a victory away. On no account should we let go of the enemy until the mobile reserves he had committed were completely beaten.

Nonetheless, Hitler ruled that 'Citadel' was to be called off on account of the situation in the Mediterranean and the state of affairs in Central Army Group. The only concession he would make was that Southern Army Group should continue the attack until it had achieved its aim of smashing the enemy's armoured reserves. As a matter of fact not even this could be accomplished, for only a few days later the Army Group was ordered to hand over several
armoured divisions to Central Army Group. The assault groups of both formations had to be withdrawn to their original start-lines.

And so the last German offensive in the east ended in a fiasco, even though the enemy opposite the two attacking armies of Southern Army Group had suffered four times their losses in prisoners, dead and wounded."

Remember that old movie Hombre it was called when one particular very young lady was all around the bandit and then when he wanted to show her back appreciation she ran away?

As I stayed again for the XXXth time with this wonderful girl -and I am doing her a big dishonour by using such poor general description, don't have words to explain how I see her, what do I feel when I just can't take my eyes away from her... (put any dirty word you want here) -she layed a bit more relaxed on the bus chair (which I have to use it every goddamn evening now to get home (evening=kinda @ night, abt 12 a clock ^^)) -so she found a better position, and with her eyes 78% closed she watched right at me, 5 meters in front of me, right side; I couldn't restrain myself but to respond the same way for a few seconds; she looked at me in such way that I had the feeling that God himself (this bastard again) is looking at me, of curse this must be some kind of strange genetical response talking abt compatibile bodies, etc;

Now how many times did I seen that look? It is not funny I guess. Gives me slight memory of: Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back

Nothing extraordinary till here. In a very strange coincidence our homes are kinda close, every evening it is happening to catch us both on our ways home between 12-1 AM, we are finding ourselfs marching alone in the dark at night; this is masochistic romantism =/
yesteday evening (=sigh*night) it was one of those countless times when I was walking towards my home between 2-3 and 50 m behind her, and she always happens to do this strange zig-zag move leaving a bit the tiny path parallel to mine and then she return on hers, after irrationally crossing the distance between right through the grass, some day she will fall in a hole lol (she maybe has some guidance error?)

So we march home a few meters distance between, sometimes I go faster other times she do the same (last saturday she stopped without any apparent reason and then I walked right away almost touching her but I did not dare to look at her, she pretended I wasn't there too)

Sometimes she does look in the bus at me for a fraction of a second and then looks forward with a discrete blush on her beautiful face and then we walk out of the bus and every time when I am near the church she is looking back at me to assure I am there.

I admit there are a lot of things crossing through my head (or whatever organ). Sometimes I think that I should talk her on our way home and just invite her to my home (she observed I leave nearby) proposing her to exercise her Sasha Grey skills or to assure her that I will oral-sexed her and that she can leave whenever she wants (a fast fuck her parents would not even notice, thinking that the bus had a few minutes (seconds!) delay or that she walked slow -guidance errors ftw). But then I think such a silly idea, a serious person like myself who does play quake and talk with losers on esr can't do or talk or both such things to such a wonderfull girl. But then I remember again how once when she was sitting on the chair near me (she didn't have alternative the bus was packed and it was the only chair left) she undressed one of her blouses, temperature reasons, and was putting the blouse around her weist and the 2nd blouse she was wearing was disarmed by the superbe shape of her boobs. She noticed what she was doing as she blushed a bit while looking up with the impression of what the hell it would be too warm otherwise.

Some evenings I think I should not look at her anymore and with this in mind she barely look at me, sometimes I completely forget, reading or watching out the window but then she comes up the bus and I am like "fuck!" and I feel a bit like my chest is going to explode, and think "c'mon..., not again! I supposed to have such a nice night!".

What is your opinion on this?
Should I say her that I play quakelive and that rapha and cypher are at a different level compared to old quake players, should I run her through the bushes?
or should I try to impress her by telling that I know jamerio or invite her at my home for cockriding training?

Should I ask her if she tried Militia? Or just get into a normal conversation (pffff... )?
What would you do?

P.S.: keep it serious people, I will consider any of these masturbation suggestions or allusion to cooller babies good reasons to put you on ignore (heartfeellings..)

Kinda...
-You know who I am?
-Who are you?
-Doesn't matter. At first I have to tell you something about Anna.
-Well, how come you know..
-It does not matter. What does matter is that she is not alone. There are thousands and thousands like her.
-What are you talking about?
-See. You know why she got married? Remember her dreams to sleep with the cock up her ass?
-What? That bitch!...
-You know, Rasputin was smart. Smart, but a sinner. He didn't do my work. He was a man of Satan, a sinner.
You know, he continued, he used to say to women that he can exorcise them. He can get away their sins, through another sins.
-And it wasn't true?
-Well, they were sinners alright. But not because what they did, but because what they thought about what they did. And on top of that, you can't take away others sins, by giving them pleasure.
-Care to exaplin?
-See, whether Anna do sleep with the cock up her ass, to me this is as relevant as whether she is sleeping with a finger up her mouth or with a hand up in the air. Organically speaking, it does not have any importance where she keep her body parts, who she touches and all this. The real problem is that she thinks that what she does do is a sin. And thus such things become sins. Man invented these things with sinfull thoughts. This is why what she is doing and Man at a whole is not pure.
-And ?
-Sin is when she consider this be a sin. You see, she tries to win her redemption by using big words: love, marriage and suffering. The true is that all these words are just excuses so she do what she likes. It is not true that you are the victim of your own body. On the contrary. Brain is the extension of your conscience. Now you understand why Rasputin did not die immediately when he ate poison and later when his head was awfully damaged. So when Anna said what she consider as perversion she thought that she can buy her freedom, her soul, with such silly practices. You think that I will allow her to save her soul, if she gets her ass fucked again and again (by so-called conjugal... "duties")? The girls is really deep into perversion, but it is not the physical action who does all the work of Satan here, but what she thinks about what she does and about herself.
-And?
-And things go like this: if you hope to gain your redemption with such silly actions, you are either naive, or you are not a believer at all. Considering how smart she is, guess what is the real true here. You can't bargain with God for your soul, don't you get it? The moment you act like losing your soul, hoping for the formula that has been writen in the Bible that those who lose their soul will regain their soul, and those who will try to keep it they will lose it, once you know about it and act deliberately to do so, things goes in reverse. Going ifor sexual penetration does not have any importance, until you think that this will save your soul, this will turn you into the real pervert. You see, most people they do talk about God, religion and their believes, but they don't really believe in God. I mean, to "sacrifice" your soul, by doing what you dream since you were little, by sucking what you feel urgent need to suck, and on top of that by putting a big name, My name, on it: love, holy marriage, God's Will? So God's will became your will? Since when is this true? They all go into churches and throw a lot of money and tears there, thinking that they are at the market and they are doing great business with Me. And when they exit the church they wanna go out keeping their heads up, thinking that they are winners now and their soul clean. The moment you enter the church hoping for salvation you lose all your chances. So now they can continue outside with their wrong behavingsand believes, as they will give Me more money next time. And when they go out the streets, they all try to come on top of each other. Money is the right measure for ones time, they say. But they all want to have more money than other. This is like saying that they are better than others and their time has more value. It is exactly on the contrary to what they read loud voices in their churches, talking about humiliation and good will. Humiliation is not becomeing a good wife, "suffering" night after night a big cock up your ass, but how you behave to the people you have no interest for and how sincere you are with yourself.
-How about muslims? You think their religion is right?
-Of course not. They are the biggest liars of all. Everyone who does reproduce without limitation in my name is a big liar. On top of that, those who say they fight in my name. Religion is abandoning. It is about abandoning any hope on this world. It is the ultimate hope for justice, admittedly not by human hand. Going on making justice on your own by taking action in my name means that I am not usefull anymore, that I am just a tool. You dismiss me. You can't go for justice in this life and then proclaim that it is the will of those who live in the Underworld. It is wrong and a great act of profanity to my adress.
-So these might be the words you have to say to esr community and all the people who read this?
-Yes my padawan, let Jonesy be my witness that this is the word of true God. Amen!
-Hallelujah!

Competitive Gaming - Big Spectator Show (46 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 17:06 CDT, 13 May 2011 - iMsg
Competitive Gaming as a big sport being shown to hundred of thousands of viewers is a utopia.

The concept of computer games is about interactive artistical expression.
The problem with watching computer matches is that you have to be involved in a much deeper sense to the game, which is pretty much impossible to a guy who never played the game -unlike popular games like football or tennis, computer games the way they are now does not address the need of the viewer in any way.

Games have to be very simple, and to catch elements from spectators life and players life as well. If 1st person shooters will catch the figure (the face and the body) of the real player, it will drive a little bit more attention. Maybe in the future games like quake will scan the body of the player, transmitting the expression of his face and print more of his personality into the game. The way games transcede this these days is way too abstract and mathematically right for regular people to watch.
Computer games now are way too complex and impersonal for regular viewers.

You won't be able to catch the attention of regular people to this, even if you will explain them all the rules. Soonner or later, they will fall asleep while watching.

Competitive gaming as a big show for large audiences, as a big industry, is a dead horse now.

The Road to Calvary, by Tolstoy (3 comments)

The Road to Calvary, by Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy

What started out like a nice walk into a book is ending up like a road to calvary indeed.

And then Ivan Ilici Teleghin stopped throwing french insults and thrilling the enemy with his cock\s image, putted it back in his pants and then he went back into the village to kiss and hug the young blonde very white credule naive typical-russian phylosophical one-step-behind metaphisical strange nocock_alllove wife. If this is not 3rd rate porn material, with the writer fantasising masochistic in disguise wannabe thrilled action, I don't know what it is.

The first book was allright, 2nd was kinda blah, maintained interesting because it focused more onto the war and the 3rd book comes ridiculous and boring pretty well. Also I have a 6th sense that it does not respect historical evidences either.
If it would have not been for the time of war (russian civil war) I think the book would have been boring as fuck.
Only two persons are interesting in the whole book, and the author does not insist on their destiny or he kills them without remorse: 1st is Bessonov, the guy all ladies want, mister "can't love anyone anymore" and the second is the anarchist, the Jadov, the one who does count his victims, even in short pauses between loosing his consciousness and does have Nietzschenian ideas.

The style of writing is kinda ok I guess, but it is nothing on the LAN closed to let's say Thomas Mann with his The Magic Mountain, or Camus writings. It does not have enough power to accelerate or compress time.

Now I have to look for some interesting history book who's using powerfull tools to describe the russian civil war (styles like Lost Victories by Mannstein or any Cornelius Ryan war book will be wellcomed)

p.s.: love the welcome/welcomed debate here http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=238251
imo both a\re correct
first bc it is the being welcome expression and second bc it may jump very well into an attribute
also welcomed in the future is corect; as it may express a matter of state after the :inception", like if I fuck my daughter now, tommorrow she'll be fucked

while browsing for some target shooting results, I've come on this page: http://www.chuckhawks.com/alternative_practice.htm

and I don't quite get it here(or do i?):
"The rifle target is ten rows of six 3/16" black dots on an 8.5x11" sheet of copy paper"
does he speak about concentric circles, first 6 black and the other 4 as it is (white)? or another formation
http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-28654969/stoc...oting.html

if this is the case (concentric circles) then 3/16" means the diameter of exterior black circle will be 3/16x6 (4.76 mm x 6 -the number of black dots) or 3/16 is the radius

This might very well be the opinion of a n00b. I agree. Usually n00bs are happier with the lack of subtility on game modifications. Replacing evidence with subtle evidence is never gonna work on masses, so these decisions are usually bad from the marketing the game and making it popular perspective.
I usually like the very first way the gameplay and the weapons, movement, etc, in q3, q4 and ql were working.
I am not talking about new features, like gtv for example, it is very clear that gtv was one of the greatest things that could happen to quake, ever.
I always find q3 mods, and later modification kinda cheesy, like softening down the aggression.
IMO unbalanced stuff always produce amazing action, while equilibrium pushes things into monotony (for example best matches were on dm6 and t4, both considered unbalanced maps, first towards items
and the second towards the railgun)

Of course that developers won't like what I said here, as they have to make money on the modifications, and most people will disagree. Conisder it a matter of personal taste then

Quakelive serverside demos (43 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 19:38 CDT, 12 July 2010 - iMsg
I've been talking to a guy who was desperately asking me for demos from the last SC2 zotac cup. 'There are only the finals", he said.

As I am more a fan of QL instead SC2 I am posting this in the QL forum section.

So I have to ask id Software: since you are so preocupated with the success of QL, what do you say that instead asking yourself what you have to do in order to get QL popular, to give the players the possibility to download the demos that has been played on a server, via the browser interface?

The QL servers does not have to keep all the demos in the database for too long, so the demos could be automatically deleted after a while, check the demos data every 4-10 hours to delete older demos or something similar. This way the servers won't use additional terabytes and players won't have to brag for demos every time there is a competition.
What do you say you give the players the possibility to find out what was going on on servers any given day, instead servers and companies trying to find out what is going on in player homes?

What approach do you think would it be more popular? It's not like the technology does not permit it, this is possible for ten years by now, you know?

Holysh1t stream (7 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 10:13 CDT, 26 June 2010 - iMsg
As I am not able to see 90% of the gdata and zotac competitions because laggy streams, and as stream admins and IRC admins said to those people complainig about the laggy streams that it is their ISP, I started some traceroute low quality investigations (acording to my knowledge), and it gave me these results:

My Resource Monitor data, section Network:
firefox ON, one adress only:
-google.com
Processes: System (local IP), firefox.exe (PID and username), no additional IN/OUT data

-holysh1t
new Connections: cl-lb1.evo.ams.nl.leaseweb.com

-starting the stream on holysh1t
new Connections: 2
1) ec2-79-125-23-22.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com
2) 8.5.250.141 from which receive 45,941 B/sec, send 0 B/sec and it contains most of the data, so I assume the stream data, wheter its source address or intermediate one, it comes the farther from here

Traceroute results to the adress, with IP Locations (from http://www.ip2location.com):
-xxxx -my IP, 1 ms
-xxx -close address, 32 ms
-xxx -same, 54 ms
-213.154.113.61 Romania, 67 ms
-213.154.124.42 Romania, 49 ms
-213.248.90.169 UK, 55 ms
-80.91.247.60 UK, 182 ms !
-80.91.250.151 UK, 82 ms
-213.248.65.210 UK, 268 ms for christ sake, is this my ISP's fault??
-213.248.68.122, UK 157 ms
-8.5.250.141, California Los Angeles 159 ms

so what the holysh1t is going on, who's fault it is for the laggy holysh1t streams, our local ISPs lolz?

...with a few exceptions, idiots.
After playing some online matches by now, against a lot of people, this is my conclusion. Not only that these guys are not thinking too much, baseing their games on aim, it just happened that the whole process of becoming good players had to rely in their cases, on aiming.
It's just a natural process, how do you become a better player if your brainz can't improve on the logical aspect of the game?
This is good news for those beginners who feel frustration because their aim is poor.

Stupid Moments in Videogame Design (10 comments)

"Game designers are only human. And like gamers, they too fall victim to the siren call of stupidity. While new consoles bring improvements to graphics, audio, and AI, there is sadly no magical microchip or processor to fix the natural human instinct that seems to take great enjoyment in tasking gamers with completing arbitrary fetch quests or screwing up gameplay by removing physical abilities the characters should for all intents and purposes have, like being able to jump or climb over small obstacles.

Whether it's due to ambivalence or some sick, subconscious hatred of players, the following titles feature shining examples of dull decisions by developers pushing the idiot envelope."

-Hi! My name is za_stalina and quite recently I am losing bigtime on dm6. My penis size decreased by a few inches by then and I strongly propose the removal of this map from competitions. Ah and I got beaten on t4 too, so it would be a great move for competition organisers to remove that map too.
-Hi! My name is za_stalina and I wanna complain my arse got beaten on t4 with no remorse too many times and my ego can't stand any more. So I wanna say t4 is shit, people! If you wanna see my awesome presence in competitions please remove that map immediately.
common notes: we both were humiliated on dm6 and t4, don't let this happen again, people. We are crying already like an elephant. Fuck people votes on the maps poll, please follow our performances and remove all maps we do bad, right now. Ah, and we found out that not only t4 and dm6 are aim maps, but all maps require aiming, so please remove all maps. And when you did that, then remove ql, because some valid sources told us ql is much about aiming, too.

Quakelive skilled players short list (522 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 13:17 CDT, 26 March 2009 - iMsg
Because the skill match mostly don't work, here's a short list of players which are above skill 5. I said medium player=skill 5, pro player =7, so these are al between 5-6 and 7 (5-6=between 5 and 6, so they are a bit better than medium players)

Note: this list don't intend to offend anyone, and it might be innapropriate in some cases, as it has just some orientation value, so you know who you are dealing with; I did just some research into people's stats, considered their opponents and aiming stats on duels, sure thing I did ommit a lot of good players, and everyone can create a new user nowaday, guys with 3 -4 matches I did not even count
So here's the list, which I will edit when I will have the time to look for more players:

Nauru ? (South Pacific): depresja (5-6)
Venezuela ? lol: IntoThinAir (5-6)

my skills:
4-5 on dm6
5-6 on t4

countries with no players means I did not look for, not that they don't have any good players
[edit: thanks to Terifire and KekS for their contribution on the aspect of the list and everyone who mentioned more names]

Stupid thoughts abt money and society (47 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 06:21 CST, 27 January 2009 - iMsg
Oh not, again! :P
So there they are:
Money should be just an options. People should have the right to decide what kind of society and life they wanna have, based on a much higher variety of government and social relations forms, than we have today. Practically, the social/political shit men deal with, is a small variation orbiting around fixed forms, usually two: democracy and dictatorship, both spinning in their turn around money
If there all the countries tend to unite in unions, there people should have different social forms to take part in, by choice. Let's say we have the UEAS euro-asian union, which have 6 forms of society, plus 20 growing new forms, starting with people which go to work for money and listen to some guys they vote for in democracy, other people working just by conventions for natural resources, other driven by just economics, which have a single occupation, to spread the products all over the world, in exchange for other products, some living their lives on the same territories, some in special zones chosen by them. It's kinda we already have at a smaller extend regarding real liberty, with the difference that govermnent institutions should not have bigger power than a factories syndicate form, for example, and money, cash or electronic with the way of valorifying human time should just have much lower circulation and proportion on people. Consider it as a projection in the future, when robots will do most of the cash measurable work, I am saying about brute force work here, and men will do more of the intellectual work, which don't pretty have a best way to measure its value by money, already.
As side note, I wonder if human societies don't go already in that direction, without realising it.
So call me crazy and to go to hell, whatever. Discuss, logical explanations expected, etc :P

Batman: The Dork Knight (83 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 20:25 CST, 1 December 2008 - iMsg
Or let's better continue with its very subtle methods: The Dark Night

I have seen the movie, and I know everybody was very impatient to know my opinion, so here it is.
Now I will mention bad things, as good things are missing by 99% percent (Heath Ledger's effort in this piece of shit, worst ever Batman movie, was pretty useless)

-the lack of subtility: it is very obvious the film is adressing to persons with very low I.Q. In some interview, someone involved in the creation of the movie said: we were chosing the name The Dark Knight, because we wanted to give this film a dark atmosphere. Dark from the title tot the end, uh?Right on, captain obvious.

-I was watching first few minutes of the film, and Batman started to growl something. At this moment I was putting the movie on fast forward, thinking I must have missunderstood the movie and this is a parody. Well, wrong. Batman is very sick, he have throat cancer

-action: from the very beginning, there is a bit of confusion right there, in order to convince the public the movie have complex action. Well, doesn't matter, not too far away there is someone explaining pretty captain obvious style: "that's more like it". This way, everybody knows we had fake Batmans in action and now there comes the real Batman. Complexity revealed bit by bit. Great.

-joker the character: When I saw the joker, I had a vague idea it acts like the assassin from No Country For Old Men. It can't be, I said to myself. This movie is gonna be original, won't do such a lame thing as borrowing elements from this sooner very successfull film. Well, well...see further.

-I did not end my thoughts, and there came the mirific idea by throwing the coin in order to chose your destiny. At this point, the woman exclaimed "I know, you make your own destiny". Was this supposed to be some kind of response to phylosophical remarks from No Country For Old Men? I feel the position of Coen brothers film is endangered, by now.

-and there comes the very subtle accident of the guy which burned half of his face, meant to symbolise the duplicity of his nature (good versus evil, ugly versus beautiful, Britney Spears against Monkey_Business)

-now about the action: boring the hell out of me, characters of the movie run from one bomb to another, all around the place, putting some person's life in other person's hands, once with the guys on the boat, then with the Batman having to chose between his girl and his fiance, and the crap went on and on

-one more mention: in cartoons, Batman is pretty obsessed by using high-kicks, when confronting his enemies. Supposed Bruce Waine was too tired for this, because steroid abuse.

(I don't understand the complains about the female actress in this movie, who would you want to act in this supershakespearean drama, Julia Roberts ?)

Question: if to NL 6 man tables, statistically speaking, about 2/6 guys leave the table as winners, which means winner ratio is about 33% and by all statistics, about 5-10 percent of the population make money from online poker (including 6 man tables, of course)...where does the rest of the money go?

Yeah, I can't time the mega on dm6. It's such a cliche this map, pick up all items, forever and ever. Every match I play, at some point, sooner or later, mostly sooner, I forget to time mega, and from that point I lose control and all become just a bullshit match.
Guess I need to buy a timer or smth. Sunshine calculations seems obsolete :-|

Better against pros than ordinary people (27 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 08:56 CDT, 29 September 2008 - iMsg
Seems I have some stupid special ability I have to warm up for hours and hours to aim properly, and even so, sometimes my aim goes down. My general aiming status is 22, the biggest pile of horse shit ever. And sometimes my aim just wake up, like a fuckin dick back from the dead. Same with movement.
Because this, I play better against pro players than against medium value players?
I just played two t4 matches against some mediocre player, carnii, and I won at minimum score, before this I talked with this guy and told him I play better against pros than ordinary guys, he did not believe me calling me a liar. Well, here's one prove, mofo:

[EDIT] link removed by me, to avoid further esr lame comments

Not that I am in the same league as link1n, I have all the respect for him, and maybe if he could focus especially on me, he could beat me at 0, but anywayz, playing against me like against all other people didn't have same consequences..But here are the facts.
NOTE: the other guy which played before me against link1n was barely doing two frags on him, but he can still beat me almost to 0
Also, I lost against stermy on dm6, not before I made 6 frags on him, I suck at dm6 and any looser can beat me on this map. Unlike many good dm6 players, which lost at negative scores against stermy.

Is this, excepting the retardisation, some form of inconsistency I deal with or it's just because I am an avid demos watcher, and did some of you face this problem too?

I have just recently downloaded the cnq3 program, and as I am used with osp, I still don't get some basic things:
-why are bots looking down when they are on low health, who stupified them and with what purpose? will they code themselfs, if yes, which version will inplement this?
-why vq3dm mode isn't by default on osp equivalent settings (weaponrespawn and all that shit), so when I callvote mode vq3dm, just play my goddam lame (looking down bots) game?

NOTE: thread title do not adress to arQon, but is an adulation gesture toward his holy sanctity

I am asking this because my english is not my first language and I am not that much of poems critic anyway, but maybe someone here (like CPL) might have a clue about his poetry and the kind of poetry he promote.

Quake3 - how much fun do u get ? (34 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 04:53 CDT, 29 July 2008 - iMsg
I usually play a few hours a week. But it seems kids these days play a few hours or even more every day. Personally I enjoy playing quake in small dozes but when it comes to "official" training after a few days of constantly playing I just feel so sick of playing that I take a break for a couple of days, or even weeks. But the main problem remains. If you don't go for a few hours every day, you always find these 16 year old boys who do, and own you if you come and play (let's call it...) "unprepared". And let's face it, as many people said, the skill is so high that there are no more gaps in these matches, which gives a big advantage to daily playing against experience-in fact, what better prove we have than these kids winning eswc masters and gamegun? I personally dislike the things were going on here, whatever other people think. Seeying av3k and cypher winning these big tourneys made me think "wtf? The most important factor to win a major q3 tourney is age now? The younger u are the bigger chances u have to win?". And please don't tell me these kids play better than czm used to play on aeroq for example back in 2004, because they don't. Or maybe is vq3s fault, a lot of people find vq3 having pretty different gameplay than osp, dunno.
My conclusion is whatever the causes, you can't force other people play less than two hours a day, it would be absurd. But the problem which appears is when all people play for many hours every day, like these kids do, all matches become the same, originality is dying and so the manifestation of personality. It's like in other aspects of human nature, the first inventing some great thing is an explorer, while the rest, the more they do the same the more they become close minded. It's called human paradox maybe. A little more is better, but much more, despite the fact that it improves yourself is just killing your perspectives. So I preffer playing a few quake3 matches online, then if I feel I want to play more quake3 I go and kill some bots (right now I am on my way on playing the SP on "perfect"), then play some quake2, qw, or even some strategy games, than spending 5 hours every day on just one game. Finally, if you spend that much time on one game, you loose the taste of fun and the time you invest in it, even if you'll be number one some day, considering material benefits you got by doing this, don't worth it.

PS: about our old champions, you people should just stop talking how czm is no good anymore or cooller or z4 are crap these days, and lolling at american quake3 scene, they all were winning great tourneys and they might win again, maybe they just don't spend so much time anymore on playing like these little kids do; you should be glad to see them participate in these competitions; also americans did not have such a big q3 online scene for the past 3-4 years, so it is perfectly understandable why they don't do so well; and after all, they always did better when they played in USA, so we'll see in there how things will be

online practice questions (39 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 01:57 CDT, 3 July 2008 - iMsg
ok, I started to play vq3 online for about 2 days, I am losing about 70% the matches I play, worst rape was about 45-10 on aeroq against some guy, it seems my movement is pretty choppy compared to the obsessed online players, which btw they all don't play that much, maximum 20 hours of 24 lol
should I rely more on aim and forget about movement? I mean I strafejump pretty well but I don't have the megaspeed some guys have here because lack of practice
one techical question kinda: what is the dimension of player model in quake units and how many quake units does the player move in a second ?I am asking this to understand how much might a player move in 55 ms, so by how much do I miss (55 is my ping)

[EDIT] this is the conclusion:
I finished my calculation; you may plus GUArd's lazy fat brain asslike like you want (you like it, don't you?) , here are some facts:
-if you lag 50 ms, the position of your opponent if he is strafejumping is in place B, when you actually see it in place A; if he is just strafing, he is half the dimension of the hitbox left or right:

LAN players versus online players (8 comments)
Posted by baron Railgun @ 07:21 CDT, 1 July 2008 - iMsg
So I have a theory :P
Guys that are good online don't do so well on LAN because online have different gameplay, mostly because [EDIT: on LAN] you are able to defend better and if you predict players movement you have 100% chances to aim properly. In order to win, when you play online you have to pick up items faster than your opponent and let aiming just do its job by instinct. I'm not saying it's not about prediction as well, and that on LAN you don't have to pick up armors and generally control the map, but compared to game on LAN, online style favours the guys with just better longer strafejumps.
Because for most players it is pretty hard to aim properly online, even from defensive positions, players are encouraged to play using the so called "forward tactics"-which mean no worry opponent might hit me, I will just run as fast as I could from one item to another, totally neglecting the possible position of my opponent.
It's like I just don't care where my oponent is, I will just do my runner runner tactic, as he won't hit me hard enough because ping.
For example, as prove to my theory I expect noctis not do so well at eswc masters.
But who knows, I might as well being wrong. And we'll see about noctis, isn't it ?

Well I am a little bit raged, maybe.
I can't play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 any more, it's just THAT stupid.
All I can say is all big games companies make crappy games everybody buy because graphics and all that shit.
Companies like Activision, Ubisoft (some were converging and made a lot of shitty things I don't wanna hear about it) they all just come with revolutionary games which are not revolutionary at all.
I don't wanna hear commercial excuses, if their moms are all a bunch of whores, that's the way it is. If my daughter is a bitch, I won't stick a fine advertising on her saying she is revolutionary, it's called common sense. They should not give us beautiful semantics about the quality of their games.
What I wanna suggest you people is stop buying their load of shit 2 pennies games and let them fuckin' die.
Long live torrents and crackers! These jokes called "games" don't worth your money.

Fuckin' pricks with their non existent AI and their crappy RV2 !
I even wrote an email but it doesn't matter, nobody would read it if I'd send it to ubisoft, but if I'd have the possibility to meet face to face the creator of this game, I'd write the email on a letter and put him eat that letter.
Enemies respawning from nowhere all over your head? Is there any cheaper way to create "AI" for a game? Have you ever heard, ubi guys, about AI in FEAR ?What you say you go back to your primary school and pay some guys from Sierra to teach you how to create AI in games, first of all, if you consider you are all big boys now and you wanna create....well...GAMES ??
Fuckin' jerks!
