Serious Gaming adds StarCraft II team (34 comments)

Serious Gaming / Team Razer, best known on this site for their star Quake players Poland av3k and Belarus Cypher, has today announced the addition of a StarCraft II division consisting of various new and oldschool top RTS players, the team will consist of none other than (with descriptions as given in the announcement newspost):

ESL StarCraft II invitational announced (41 comments)

The Electronic Sports League has announced a StarCraft II invitational featuring 16 of Europe's finest players which is to take place upcoming Friday at 10:00 CST and is estimated to last roughly five hours.

The tournament will consist of a single elimination bracket with best-of-three matches, excluding the finals which will be best-of-five. At stake in the event is 200€ as well as five beta keys which will be raffled away among viewers. The matches will be streamed by ESL TV and provided with German commentary.

Razer and Blizzard to release SC II gear (28 comments)

It was announced on tuesday that computer peripherals manufacturer Razer and video game developer Blizzard Entertainment will be cooperating to create high end, StarCraft II themed, tournament grade gaming gear designed to maximize the StarCraft II experience. Mouses, keyboards and headsets are to be expected.

According to Razer's Robert 'Razerguy' Krakoff: “It has been a little over a decade since StarCraft first rocked the video game industry and began a legacy that continues to this day. We’re extremely excited to be working with Blizzard Entertainment on the StarCraft II gaming peripherals and gear. The project is in the development phase with a focus on serving up innovative features while offering precision, cutting-edge technology, accuracy, speed and comfort.”

Similiar to last year, Turtle Entertainment's eSports Award has started a voting process to determine which six players they will recognize as the Player of the Year of their respective regions. The regional winners will eventually be compared to eachother in order to determine who will be recognized as eSports Player of the Year.

Razer has released a new gaming mouse mat, according to Razorzone.com:

Serious.Razer.Cypher mouse goes for $501 (67 comments)

We recently reported that one of the limited edition Serious.Razer.Cypher mouses was put for sale on ebay with its winnings to be donated to charity. The mouse has now been sold after 38 biddings for no less than 501$, which will go to the Red Cross International.

Previously we reported that a mouse would be released to celebrate the ESWC 2008 victory of Quake III champion Belarus Alexey ‘Cypher’ Yanushevsky. Now the "RAZER Deathadder ‘Cypher’ ESWC 2008 Commemorative Edition" mouse has been released in limited numbers, several of which will be winnable in various contests.

eSports film in renowned Dutch theater (16 comments)

Earlier we reported on the festival premiere of the Beyond the Game documentary featuring two-fold WCG champions, China Xiaofeng "Sky" Li & Netherlands Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen, as well as former BWI champion, Sweden Fredrik "MaDFroG" Johansson, by renowned Dutch filmmaker Jos de Putter. Now the highly anticipated film will finally make its way to film theaters. Its cinema premiere will be in Pathé Tuschinski, the most famous Dutch film theater, at March 15 11:30 CET before being shown in theaters throughout The Netherlands starting on March 19.


Taking place at the event as well will be the WarCraft III finals of the Dutch ESL Pro Series, letting the audience feel the excitement of a live WarCraft III match with real stakes. Tickets can be purchased through the Pathe website and more information can be found at the Beyond the Game website (Official trailer).

As reported earlier, eSports documentary 'Beyond the Game' will debute at the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam four days from now.

More information about the screening date has now been released and tickets are now available online.

The premier of the film will take place Friday November 21 in Pathé de Munt at 11:00 CST, it is scheduled to last until 12:30 CST. Standard tickets cost €8,50, tickets with a Discount card or IDFA-coupon cost €6,00. A second screening will take place Monday November 24 in Pathé Tuschinski at 05:00 CST lasting till 06:30 CST. A third screening will take place at Thursday November 27 15:00 CST lasting till 16:30 CST once again in Pathé de Munt. Tickets to all screenings have the same prices.

Documentary 'Beyond the Game' Created (64 comments)

At the upcoming International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, which will take place from November 20 till November 30, a documentary film titled 'Beyond the Game' is to be aired featuring several WarCraft III players as they battle for World Cyber Games gold.

Made by renowned Dutch filmmaker Jos de Putter, the film mainly revolves around rivals China Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li (pictured) and Netherlands Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen who clash at WCG 2007 in United States of America Seattle. Featured as well is eSports Player of the Year 2004 Sweden Fredrik 'MaDFroG' Johansson, who reflects back on his competitive years as he is now living a life in Sweden that has nothing to do with gaming.

eswc Electronic Sports World Cup just announced the ESWC Masters of Athens to take place from October 17th to 18th and will feature Quake 3 Quake III and wc3 WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne competitions.

Both games will have a 15.000$ prize pool and 12 international participants as well as 4 Greek champions. The champions of the event will receive an auto-berth to ESWC 2009.

Those interested in applying to enter the event can do so here until September 21, participants will be announced the next day, seeding will be announced October 8th and groups will be announced October 10th.

The computer peripherals manufacturer Razer has announced in a press release that they will be release a mouse to celebrate Belarus Alexey ‘Cypher’ Yanushevsky's recent victory at the ESWC 2008 Finals.


The white 'serious.razer.Cypher Limited Edition Deathadder mouse' carries Cypher's signature and nickname and fifteen of them will be attainable alongside a signed Cypher shirt and a Razer Messenger bag through participation in online contests which are to be announced at razerzone and Razer's fan page at Facebook.

Five will also be given away at the Igromir Expo in Russia Moscow from the 6th till the 9th of November where Cypher will be playing demonstration matches.

The Dutch qualifiers for the 2008 eswc Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) have just been announced by WSquared Entertainment. Taking place on June 7 at the CineStar Colosseum in Enschede qualifiers will be held in:

- wc3 Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (two spots)
- Quake 3 Quake III: Arena (one spot)
- tmn Trackmania Nations (two spots)

A Counter-Strike qualifier for the ESWC Masters will also be held from May 17-18.

Trackmania player Netherlands Freek 'XenoGear' Molema will be part of the Dutch delegation as well because of his status as defending champion. The delegation can also increase depending on success of any Dutch players at the ESWC Masters.
