I was hesitant about posting this at first, but at the same time I really want to hear some other people's opinions on it.
So, I've had this kinda crazy idea in my head for a while. Okay it might be a little more than 'kinda' crazy, and I've thought about it so much that my opinion on whether it would work or not has become a little twisted (which is the reason I'm posting this). I originally came up with the idea a year or so ago when I was trying to think of a project for me to sink my teeth into.
The idea is, in it's simplest form, to make a 3d, multiplayer world/environment modelled around an actual esports event to provide a public/social hub for live event coverage (ie. being at the event from the comfort of your own home), driven by the streaming of live video to surfaces in the world (eg. projector screens, etc). There are hundreds of different ways to expand/add to this, but I'll keep this post short. Hopefully I made some sense.
As it happens I already started work on this a while back, as it's a massive learning experience for me regardless of how far I get with it, even if it ends up in my recycle bin in 12 months time, but I'm still really interested in opinions on it. Would you use it? (be brutally honest)
edit: I wanted to wait till I'd got a video demo showing some examples of what I mean, but it might be a while till I can do that.
