Also in yesterday's update: added support for up to 32 players, three new levels and STUPID mode for benchmarking with DX 11 and uncompressed textures.

This Saturday the finals of the £30,000 first season of the ESL Pro Series in the UK takes place in London, featuring the country's best Counter-Strike: Source and Call of Duty 4 teams.
Why am I posting this on ESReality? Because next season, in addition to the two games from this season, will also feature a duel game!
The duel game was announced, it's Quake 3! In addition, there will also be Trackamania Nations Forever. Details about qualification will come in the next few days.
If you happen to be in the London area this weekend, why settle for for a stream when you can be there in person for the announcement. Entry is free with a flyer! More details are available at esl.eu.

Featuring Counter-Strike: Source and Call of Duty 4, the ESL Pro Series will have the best 12 teams in the country compete over an 11 week season to qualify for the finals to be held in January. The winning teams will net themselves a grand prize of £5,000 - that's £1,000 per player. There is also a bonus of £100 for each match won during the season!
Three qualifiers for both games will be hosted in September in which the top 4 teams from each will qualify. The ESL Pro Series will begin at the end of September.
How do you look back at what Quake 4 contributed to e-Sports? Why do you think the game did not have the longevity in e-Sports compared to its predecessor, said predecessor being Quake 3?
I think it's because the gap between good and not so good players was too large, in Quake3 even a lower skilled player could think it was fun to play because the game is so slow and you hear around the map and even if you are a lot better than your opponent you don't have the same advantage, because the game is too slow and you can't surprise in Quake 3, it's just about hitting all the rails and taking the armours. In Quake 4, it's more important to have map control and movement, if you look the wrong way once, it might cost you the game, and I like it when there is perfection to a game, if you make 1 bad call it should cost you the game.

News broke on UnrealNorth that the highly respected and talented UT2004 TDM player (he had a spell in EYEBALLERS Quake 4 too) took his life earlier this week.
inca wrote:
Henrik Karlsson, a.k.a. "Cata" was found dead at Flottsund in Sunnersta the 14th of March, he had apparently committed suicide. No one seems to be certain how, but a guess is that it was a mixture of antidepressant and liquor.
The reason for this started when his father died about a year ago. Cata became depressed and things snowballed until he simply chose this as a last resort.
Cata was well respected, as a talented gamer by some, and as a good friend by others.
Words fail me... Words cannot fill this void that he left behind. Words cannot bring him back.
As his friend I can only hope that he did not suffer in the end.
His friends and family's thoughts are surely filled with if's and why's, but one thing is for certain - he will be sorely missed.
I send my deepest condolences to his family and all his friends.
R.I.P Cata.

[16:45:12] [Cata] this is the last day of my last days
Cata is regarded as one of the best UT2004 TDM players, he played for Team Sweden in both the ClanBase Nations Cups and ESL Nations Championship as well as EuroCups in UT2004 and Quake 4 and the UTCL. Teams included e-star, EYEBALLERS and Viruz.
Using footage I filmed at WSVG London last year I have put together this 9 minute event video featuring many players including toxic, stermy, socrates, fox and more.
Although the quality isn't great this will give you a taste of what it was like at and around the event.
