Quakecon 2016 will consist of a Quakeworld 2v2 TDM as well as a Quakelive Duel Masters tournament!

QUAKEWORLD 2on2 TDM OPEN:

The QUAKEWORLD 2on2 TDM Open will feature a competition for up to thirty-two (32) two-player teams battling it out in a double elimination bracket and best-of-three games format. Teams who come out on top will share prizes of $25,000, including $12,000 for the team of champions.

To register for the QUAKEWORLD 2on2 TDM Open, interested competitors can visit the QuakeCon tournament area on-site in the Wedgwood Foyer from 10:00am to 6:00pm CDT on Thursday August 4th for participation availability.

QUAKE LIVE DUEL MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP:

Our last QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Championship was in 2014, and since then we’ve upped the ante a little bit. The QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Championship will once again feature known professionals and top QUAKE LIVE competitors in an exclusive tournament. Up to thirty-two (32) of the world’s best QUAKE LIVE players, hand selected by veteran tournament staff from the open online registration, will face-off in the 1 vs. 1 duel for $25,000 in a double elimination bracket, with each match played in a best-of-five-games format. In the end two competitors will remain and thousands will gather to watch as these two best-of-the-best survivors go head-to-head in a single elimination, best-of-five-games throw-down with a $12,000 check written to the champion.

K1llsen just announced his cooperation with Lenovo!

According to k1llsen its a collaboration to build the k1llsen brand, easygoing cooperation, potential tournaments, giveaways, etc. all through his gaming twitch stream.

He said this is going to be his last push at building the k1llsen brand. He mentioned the giveaways etc. should start from next week some time! He also said this wont be solely prioritized around quake, and should include some other games too. Announced live today on twitch.

Ok fuck... So I'm not really a hardware guy and in light of that other dude asking some questions about CPU and mobo, I need advice. I have saved some money towards a new pc at the end of the year. My max budget is £1500 (app. €2050, $2300).

What I will be using it for:

I am a software / web developer so that mostly... to be honest I don't need an uber PC for dev my current i5 3rd gen is still going ok. I use SQL Server, node processes, and multiple instances of VS so that is about where my processing power is going.

I will want something to play games on, al be it I only really play Kerbal Space Progame and Quake Live at the moment, but I would like to play some other games including upcoming titles like doom4 and shit.

I would also like to stream occasionally and I would like to be fairly future proof as I do not plan on buying another PC for like 3 or 4 years (maybe a small upgrade after like 2 years).

So I have some questions:

1. Is skylake worth it considering I dont want to upgrade again for like 3 or 4 years.

2. If so do I go for an i7 or i5?

3. Should I invest more in a top of the line gfx card.

4. My budget includes a 144hz monitor so keep that in mind!

So I spoke to the owner of Meltdown Bar (aptly so) here in London and he said they will show a stream of Quakecon 2015 on Friday 24th on some of their screens.

Not sure of the actual event schedule but hopefully there will be some decent games on.

Anyone is welcome if you wanna pop over, myself and a couple of quakers here in London will be there in the evening to hopefully catch some games and beers.

Anyone else getting this error when the launch the client:

Invalid site configuration: Missing or invalid QL_SITE_PROFILE

Seems to have randomly just appeared, I log in and the screen just goes black with that text written (also in black so i had to highlight it).

Is anyone else experiencing unusually high pings to servers in Europe at the moment.

I did some tests and my connection seems fine to all other local sites etc, I have no other traffic on my line, but for some reason I am getting about 100ms to Maidenhead, and about 120+ to de.

This started late last night, not sure if it's me or if there is something up with the servers.

I live in London and my provider is Virgin Media.

(in b4 rebooting router etc etc)

There will also be a dedicated area for spectators: "Highlighted matches and all the important Playoffs matches will be broadcasted from DreamArena Campgrounds"
