Amateur U.S. Corporate Media Analysis (474 comments)
Posted by Lo @ 02:09 CDT, 24 April 2009 - iMsg
For every major issue that the corporate media covers, in USA, they try to act as if there are only two positions on the story: the left wing opinion or the right wing opinion. The vast majority of the time they attempt to say that one of these opinions is that, "the policy wasn't worth it," or, "it was the right thing to do." They never give attention to the opinion that a decision, action or policy was FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG AND IMMORAL.

Examples

Vietnam War:
left opinion: wasn't worth it or too costly.
right opinion: it was the right thing to do at the time.
truth: fundamentally wrong.

Iraq War:
left opinion: too costly.
right opinion: something stupid like,"it prevented the spread of terrorism," or,"hey, we won, right?" etc
truth: fundamentally wrong.

Torture:
left opinion: it wasn't worth it and didn't help prevent terrorism enough.
right opinion: we don't torture.
truth: immoral, wrong, illegal.. etc

Bailouts:
left opinion: gotta save the economy.
right opinion: not worth it.
truth: sickening to give these already rich fuckasses billions, while the rest of us can't even afford health care or are failing to pay our mortgages.

Health Care:
left opinion: socialized health care is not politically feasible.
right opinion: keep the industry private, you fucking commies.
truth: single payer would cut the national costs in half and give coverage to three times as many people.

you know where i'm going with this.

/end rant

my mother used to work for this company that makes year books. about 5 years ago, she and many of her colleagues lost their jobs, because the work they did was now done by computers. so i was thinking, the population of humanity is certainly going to grow, while the number of jobs will most definitely decrease, due to technological advances.

what kind of effects do you think this will have on humanity? do you think many people will die from starvation, due to not being able to make money, or do you think that eventually we will advance toward a utopian society, with little to no labor and no currency? or maybe both of these things or any other outcomes?
