Chat spam delay! (12 comments)
Posted by calleking @ 08:57 CST, 14 February 2014 - iMsg
In OSP/CPM you're able to spam smileys and random crap when something funny or unexpected occured in-game. Like a triple air rocket followed by an endless amount of smileys. That ability gives the game a certain touch and more room for expression. I miss this in Quake Live and would rank it as a very important hotfix that we need straight away without delays!

I know that there was always some asshole abusing it but you could always cl_noprint/cg_chatbeep 0 it.

Displayport + 2233RZ @ 120Hz? (14 comments)
Posted by calleking @ 02:59 CDT, 28 September 2011 - iMsg
Got an HP Elitebook 8460p from my work and I'd figured I'd sell my desktop computer and get a new one later on.

Thing is that this laptop only has 1xDisplayPort and 1xVGA. 2233RZ uses a DVI-D and that won't do with the VGA connector.

I've been googling for awhile now but can't seem to find any info about this, so I thought I'd ask in here:

Does anyone know if the displayport will be able to handle 120Hz (even at lower resolutions (r_mode 9/12 in QL))?

Thanks!

What's up with the Xai? (54 comments)
Posted by calleking @ 20:24 CST, 8 January 2011 - iMsg
So another one of my WMO's that I've always been using broke down and I figured I'd give the Xai a try. I've always been hesitant about buying anything but the wmo/3.0 but I did some research and figured it might be a good 'upgrade' and quite similar to the WMO. I've been fiddling with the settings/drivers for the last two weeks but I just can't get the mouse to feel remotely good.

Naturally it takes time to adapt to a new mouse aswell but considering I've spent some time with the same settings/sens for some days it should feel somewhat good. I tried 400 dpi, 450dpi, 800, 900, 1000 and recalculated the sens/accel according to the formula injx posted awhile ago. 500/1000hz didn't make any difference. Tried the DPI-trick that's around (use a dpi divided by 90 do avoid negative accel) but that didn't solve anything. Also, when turning fast the crosshair either moves up or down completely either facing the roof or the floor. No dust on the pad or on the sensor. Although this doesn't happen often It's QUITE annoying.

The mouse still feels like shit no matter what i try. I've got 'exactaim' and 'freemove' turned off. Is that good? Not like it did much difference sliding those bars anyway.

The WMO might feel cheap and plastic but it feels so much better than the Xai - for roughly 1/6th of the Xai's price. I guess the cord is better on the Xai - but that's it.

I'm raging so bad right now. I lose duels to people i used to thrash by a big margin. I'm thinking about trying out militia or farmville. Even clan arena can be a challange now. There's no dignity in this :(

Have I missed anything? New firmware?
Well, if anyone has a Xai and knows anything, please let me know.

Cheers

Massive acceleration sitting down?

The bike doesn't weigh more than a few kilos but still, how can an engine that small reach 50km/h and how could no one hear it?

Probably fake but it's not like anything surprises me in this sport.

Becoming a Cyborg (25 comments)

I read this article about how scientist have managed to communicate with the human brain with help of electronic impulses (think that is the name). This means that in the near future the science about communicating with the brain with electronical equipement will be drastically improved. Blind people will be able to see again, deaf people will be able to hear, people uncapable of moving will be able to move again.

Anyway, the article also mentioned these "NeuroChips" which would give extreme mental abilites like: knowing the square root of a hundred digit long number, Photographic memory, extreme/superior logical thinking, improved tactical thinking, improved hand-to-eye coordination (for us gamers), improved chronological aweraness which means that you would be able to time, let's say, x items on the millisecond without even overworking your brain and probabaly you wouldn't even reflect upon it cause it'd be natural.

You would pay a huge amount of money for the so called 'NeuroChip' and they'd make a surgery and you end up with this very small, and undetectable chip in your forehead. With time the cost of getting this kind of implant would drop so that only the people with ALOT of money would be able to get the "best" chips on the 'market'. So basically, you'd be upgrading yourself from time to time. So one day you basically get tired of your 'AMD NeuroChip 2100' and switch to the 'AMD NeuroChip PRO 2500' :)

An implant of this type would give you waay much more extreme abilites than just genetic improvements.

So how would that affect us?
Let's be hypothetical and say i managed to get this kind of chip before anyone else - i would be the human definition of mental perfection, i could become just about anything. I could become the best Golfplayer in the world, best chessplayer, best engineer, best programmer, best musician, best actor, best footballplayer...you name it.

Would it make life more enoyable?
I'm not sure, but it sure sounds cool.. :)
