Quake Champions - Athena CTF? or Wait for Quake Reboot? (7 comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 07:28 CDT, 19 July 2021 - iMsg
QC CTF, with something like, Athena CTF would be appealing imho. With unlimited grapples, PQL movement, and 4 runes. Quake 1 was a major hit, with CTF being the most popular format, in the US and Europe. Quake 2 people loved the grapple there too. They would have loved Quake 1 more, as the Quake 2 Rocket Launcher was too slow, and the new railgun 100 dmg was a game breaker imho. and the grapple not as good.

Grapple was a great tool for n00bs, who had limited movement experience, who could hop on, grapple around and have a bit of fun. Then grapple to a weapon, and eventually be able to contribute to the game.

QC CTF, choice of Slash, is just quake 4 and it wasn't success in CTF.

Make, something like a Quake Battle Royal (34 comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 10:00 CDT, 14 July 2021 - iMsg
Quake Endgame - Battle Royal

A Battle Royal with TDM, Duel, CTF, Attack and Defend all in one game, all from all Idsoftware Titles. Brining all quake communities together. (Big plus)

Taking the best parts from Quake, Doom, Enemy Territory Quake Wars, Rage.

Create a Battle Royal, like Warzone with Doom's excellent open maps, integrated with maps across the quake series, items to pick up, PQL physics, Grapple, Vehicles from Rage, Crossbow from Rage, ET Advanced vehicles, challenges mid map, teleports, jump pads, deployment in air, vamp damage health reclaim, powerups, Circle closing with zombies in the gas etc.

Something to compete with the trash battle royals like Fortnight and Warzone (Which actually looks quite good, apart from the cheaters, and its all hitscan spam.)

Enemy Territory nearly made it, Rage was great fun, the vehicles are far superior to Fortnight and Warzones.

I'd say this would be much fun with Dooms incredible landscapes and textures. (Also make a thin graphics client, for lower spec PC's and Consoles like xBox, and ensure it is for all ages not restricted to over 18's) More money it makes the better the community.

Integrating Attack and defend into the map could be interesting for cash to spend on perks. Integrating capture the flag on the map, would also be interesting for players not to sit in one location, but give options for cash rewards if they managed to cap.

Idsoftware series has great experience why not bundle the best features.

Syncerror perhaps has too much on his plate, but integrating all of the best features from each idsofware title, can only be a good thing, with Doom's brilliant open maps?

(The gulag in warzone was taken from quake 1 arena where u could spec the players, from a balcony, watching down in a queue, on the players doing a 1v1 single round elimination, winner stays on)

I suggest years ago about showing cheats to players, and they have implemented that into QC with Visor wallhack, which is pretty cool option for a limited time.

I refer back to the quake 1 CTF creeper runes (do search), where they had runes which gave users different abilities.

Vampiric rune was one, which would be good, especially against an out timed player, and over stacked NME. The Vampire can gain 70% odd (% can be set in line for fairness) health back, in combat for a certain period of time. This could be a game changer to gain back control of a fully stacked Clutch, sorlag, keel or other Players fully stacked.

Monk Character, when standing still for certain period of time takes no damage when activated.

Witch rune which was a counter to the Monk and made the Monk Character twitch and then was vulnerable to damage. Also cast a spell on other players, I think it was twitching too.

I think there were 18 runes, and might be good source for new Champion ideas.

Cheater - QuakeLive PQL player MAGA exposed or not? (95 comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 11:37 CDT, 12 July 2021 - iMsg
What do you think?

This player has been accused of cheating. He continues to say he is clean. However he is banned from one server, for Wallhacking and Aimboting hacks allegations.

At 1x speed, can seem normal, to a certain extent. But slowed down to 0.25x speed can be clearly visible. Understanding that these Aimbots & Wallhacks can be activated on and off, through out battles, by pressing a key, which makes it harder to spot, and said to be a coincidence!

Make your own mind up, after reviewing the thread. Opinions welcome. Cheat or not?

The demos were recorded from spec prior to the player being called out. He did submit demos afterwards to prove innocence. However at slowmo speeds there are odd moments. So you see the dilemma, it's about judgement calls, as VAC doesn't work. Reporting a player without idsoftware input or VAC analysis, then that possibly shouldn't be done. However if the cheats are pretty clear as many of them are, then report. A cheat is a cheat in my opinion, its working out if they are cheating or not, and currently it seems that too many people are getting away with i t with advancements in humanised features, and on and off options.

In some of these clips and occasions it is better to watch at 0.25 speed. Looking through floors, walls, and shooting plasma at players into walls they are behind (6plus rocket to bridge) etc.

On a side note, linked to some weaker cheats, I said b4 that some cheats should be taken away, by making the available to all. Like timed items, and Syncerror made abilities in QC etc visor wallhack, item timers visible and QC seems to work quite nicely with these.

Cheat or Not?

QuakeLive PQL Vamp CA, is a great MOD to play.

How to beat the QuakeLive cheats? (238 comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 14:47 CDT, 21 September 2014 - iMsg
Main question is, what are the cheats out there, that are known? post them, NO links or specific names please, just what they do.

EDIT1: probably best to start at Comment #39 onwards, after the trolls.

Why post them?

I hear this a load about cheaters, yes or no, some true claims some false. Many lesser skilled starter noob's (not their fault not to know yet) just think that someone who hits a direct rocket is a cheat. But does not understanding the 100 dmg it delivers directly.

Some even think fov, or increasing sound levels is a cheat. So there are different terms for cheating. But overall hacking of anything other than "non-standard game tweaks", is not good.

How to overcome this?

ID has done a good thing.
"Intentionally or not", the introduction of timers to items, and the dmg plums, are actually eliminating the power of the cheaters, or making it harder for them. So good job tbh ID.

I touched on this on another thread, but with ID not able to stop modernisation of the hacking / cheating community, so why not eliminate it by adding some of them as feature of some sort.

Prevention is better than cure.
Punkbuster does obviously not work properly enough. So what are the cheats?

The more we know about what cheats to look out for the better the game can actually be. And be more cheat proof. Only the Aimbot stuff will be hardest to look out for, but then ID have that capability to eradicate most.

With the

Wallhack for e.g.

"If you can't beat them, join them!" In this case, if you can't eliminate them, integrate it so that everyone is on an even keel. result :)

feedback welcome

QuakeLive constructive poll (No comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 05:45 CDT, 20 September 2014 - iMsg
Wanted to create a poll to get some other feedback, but not sure if I can. Anyway, from this poll in 2012 with 268 votes and 12,010 hits, what would the consensus be at this time?

Taken from: http://www.esreality.com/post/2246831/why-do-...quakelive/

I/we have loved all quake games, and supported them as much as I/we can, with constructive feedback, unfortunately like most, a large proportion of balance was not listened to. There have been some good changes down the years, and some bad ones. Some you can live with some you can't.

The transparency of some of the decisions do not seem logical, or identified / reasoned / notified to our, living / revenue generating, supportive! community. However, if they are for the good for the game with transparency given, and are for the bigger picture (unknown and unfathomable to us), and therefore will work, that is fine. HOWEVER>

Would be interesting to see the responses from new joiners to the game, and existing players responses to changes or to just the new overall play, at this current time of steam release.

will the polls shift.

for e.g.

e.g.

ql 2012
pql

EDIT:Further answers on top of the main e.g's; what game title your currently playing, what title / mod / mode you are playing the most of, and history is great. (doesn't have to be quake related ofc)

FFA the concept + why is it going wrong? (41 comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 09:56 CDT, 12 September 2014 - iMsg
(Updated on a sporadic basis):
What are your views?

Quite concerning all of the changes that have been happening to FFA, with the QL readiness for steam. With so many threads around these days I wanted to try to get input from FFA Lovers, and hope to get good input / ideas for the balance. Which as a mode of Quake, has been seen to be a great starting point to move into other elements of quake.

FFA is not Duel, it is not TDM, it is not CTF, however great players, come from an initial FFA background, and some do very well coming from the other way round. However, I personally think there is something fundamentally wrong with the way it is being designed at the moment. Included or partial disabled Loadout's, they change everything and the problem starts. (loadouts / map design / map size / spawn positions / focus points / timers / ammo boxes / powerup ratio / armor protection / spawn health etc etc etc.

I was really trying to find out what others thought & what suggested improvements might be better, as currently with the QL version update Sept 11 2014 is by far perfect. It has some improvements, but still I feel something is so wrong.

I have pasted in some of my thoughts, and I will update as I go along, but was interested in hearing what other players thought was wrong or right with it?

destress your brain (10 comments)

one simple solution is write lists, or block it all out with music. But the former gets it done.

something which might seem quite obvious to some, but others don't do enough of, and can cause moments of wtf next. list writing it is not new science, and loads do it. But get it off your brain, annotate the lists with dots or stars, underline, circle make arrows etc. Prioritise, categorise and implement. Then work through them ezee.

I say this as in gaming it can be quite straight forward and fun, and easy for some, but for others, the "technicality of the games and hardware" is quite exciting and intense. With so many different factors, configs, resolution, accuracy, strategy, cvars, m_pitch yaw relationships whatever.

Can be applied to all, wtf next, situations throughout life.

then the hard part, actually do some of them!!

PS. don't think they are done, by writing them...

Would be interesting to see historically how many posts / topics have been made on ESR, since changes were implemented, in different game titles, e.g. Q4, Q3, QL etc, and the timing of the increase in posts / topics / activity on this site. "Quake care value" seems to have increased, and posts increased for sure. (QL overtakes the number of topics than Q3)... Perhaps this will be reversed soon, when people stop caring about QL, bit like the Q4 death?

1. g_velocity_gh [default 1800] is speed of grapple to target.
2. pmove_velocity_gh [default 800] is speed with which you are dragged to target.

Much prefer the Weapons respawn, so you can time weapons, armor, ammo and powerups. There is more of a value on your life, and fragged players backpack protection. And of course, less people discharging with LG, as when you get an LG you want to keep it.

f_modified at the end of the game "nasty business".

Quakeworld CTF QWCTF Netgamez 99 Dyno Pov UK vs DCS CTF2M3

Quakeworld CTF - QWCTF - Netgamez 99 LAN in Amsterdam - 5 v 5. UK team takes on DCS on Map "Spill The Blood" in the UK Map choice in the BO3.

Server Settings: Weapons stay, Rune drop, Ammo drop, Weapon drop, Powerups on, Team damage off.

DCS (Grimburgoth, Chipie, Cyrano, Fukkov, Guldur)
UK (Dyno, Whez, Rocco, Ice, Lecter)

One of the tougher games on spill. DCS were a very strong team in all of our 3 maps, having beaten us on their map, in the last minute!! They were a strong contender for the tournament title. Was tight and very messy with weapon stay as there were loads of LG discharges, but was much fun.

Quakeworld CTF QWCTF - Netgamez 99 - Dyno Pov - UK vs AON - CTF2M3

Quakeworld CTF - QWCTF - Netgamez 99 LAN in Amsterdam - 5 v 5. UK team takes on AON on Map "Spill the Blood" one of the preliminary Quakeworld CTF rounds. UK v AON. This is the UK map choice.

Server Settings: Weapons respawn (Preferable setting for UK), Rune drop, Ammo drop, Weapon drop, Powerups on, Team damage off.

AON (Terror, g1zm0, W13bb3, R3-1nc, Qb-n3, pent)
UK (Dyno, Whez, Rocco, Ice, Lecter)

Team play around quad was a massive tactic for us, with quad attacks making the difference in these usually tightly fought games. We were lucky enough to gain most quads, and have 3 player attacks, unquaded player in first for distraction, and quad cleaning out...

The 4 runes, were important to control, With STR and Regen shared at base with Resist, for attacks. Rune sharing and rune protection, were important in those days. I suppose equivalent to medikits, and health regeneration powereup in Quakelive.

A lot of Nasty quad whoring attacks by Whez and Rocco and me. I / Dyno was backup Middle. Lecty, inner base, and Ice outer base, were locking down base. Icey was holding outer base, spawn raping with STR, nothing in, nothing out.(not even me) check out his STR Grenade to my face lol :)

Unfortunately for AON we had not lost on this map b4. Gizmo, Terror and the rest were graceful in defeat, no bad mouthing, was gg, and a testament to the good spirit at the LAN.

Best sound in Quake, OCTO = Quad plus Strength rune?

Quakeworld CTF QWCTF Netgamez 99 Dyno Pov FINAL UK vs EC E4M3

Quakeworld CTF - QWCTF - Netgamez 99 LAN in Amsterdam - 5 v 5 FINAL. UK team takes on EC on Map "The Elder God Shrine" in the second map of a BO3. This is the EC map choice. A map which they had "NEVER" been beaten before on!!!

Server Settings: Weapons stay, Rune drop, Ammo drop, Weapon drop, Powerups on, Team damage off.

EC (Qloon, Killer Bug, Judicator, Avalance, Glacier)
UK (Dyno, Whez, Rocco, Ice, Lecty)

EC played a very tight game. Rocco and Whez trying to control the RA, with Ice and Lecty in defence, with me Dyno trying to lock down the RL, and YA area to stop as many incoming as possible. [no comments about my strafe jumping or bunny hopping, I still cant do them :) ] Credit to EC, as they made the whole Mid area very messy and hard to control.

I think this is the harder base to control, with the EC's base much harder to get into, a credit to Rocco and Whez for getting in there.

Our base Lava corridor was a nightmare with an endless pounding with EC rockets, made it a roulette for survival, with the Lave claiming many victims!!

Quakeworld CTF QWCTF Netgamez 99 Dyno Pov FINAL UK vs EC CTF2M3

Quakeworld CTF - QWCTF - Netgamez 99 LAN in Amsterdam - 5 v 5 FINAL. UK team takes on EC on Map "Spill the Blood" in the first map of a BO3. This is the UK map choice, Weapons stay, which brings slightly different tactics, especially for ammo management.

Server Settings: Weapons stay, Rune drop, Ammo drop, Weapon drop, Powerups on, Team damage off.

EC (Qloon, Killer Bug, Judicator, The Jackal, Glacier)
UK (Dyno, Whez, Rocco, Ice, Lecty)

EC played very well, and knew our tactics, having specced our last games. However we still played 2 up front 1 mid and 2 def. Credit to EC, as they made the whole Mid area very messy and hard to control, was complete mayhem at most times.

Whez was awesome in attack and holding onto resist early on, coordinating attacks with quad and backing up Roccos tireless flag grabbing, and superb caps.

I / Dyno was backup Middle, for attack or defence, just being a pain in the butt, and trying to dmg as much as possible, to weaken def or hold mid, or get the runes freed up.. Lecter, inner base, and Ice outer base, were locking down base. Again very good base control from these guys.

Some nasty discharges to release runes, or kill quads, very effective, but "nasty business".

Why or what is hacking me? (56 comments)
Posted by dynodeath @ 03:12 CDT, 6 June 2012 - iMsg
Please can anyone help? Or help me understand who or what is doing this? And am I safe to go wireless yet to all of my devices? I am currently only wired in, but do not know if they are getting in or not!!

Win 7 64 Bit
Kasperspy
Then ESET (nod32) + Malware bytes

None showed up the virus, with heuristics on...

Story is:

I have had my Laptop Hacked into, where I saw a number of times, that someone is in a file I was trying to access, and asked me to read only or notify!! ( I was on a wireless connection)

This started back in March. My router had WEP, then I changed it to WPA, and still it happened. (I have now got it on WPA/WPA2-PSK (Mixed Mode, which I believe it the most secure?)

I first noticed it a week before, so I was on the latest Kasperspy, and ran full heuristics scan, which did not bring up any results. So I changed to ESET and MAlware bytes, and did the same. Nothing!!

I changed router settings to WPA. Still I was accessed, even after doing factory reset on Router.. Which obviously defaults the router back to the default SSID and Password.

After I called Sky to sort it out, they had no idea, (and i am changing now to a different carrier this week) but after me closely monitoring it for a week, this led to my password being changed on my Laptop at exactly 14:30.00 on Saturday the 17th 2012., which meant I had no access to the laptop!

I had to get in the back door, via cmd and open up another user to get my laptop back and running.

I have also had my phones bluetooth hacked, until I put on my Blue tooth Firewall, where I and can now see the logs in the firewall of new attempts to access, which now rejects them. (Android phones 2.3.6 and 4.0).

Can anyone help me work out whoor what it is it is?

I have had my HD assessed by the Geek Squad in Oxford Street London who said that a JavaScript file which was undetectable by virus checker. This they found out by doing a 48 hour low level check on the HD from my laptop. They said the JavaScript file enabled a VPN access to it..

I had my phones linked to the laptop by cable during this time of being hacked, and am sure stuff text messages dissapeared on them.. (possible or just me going mad?)

Anyone got any ideas, or A. How to prevent, ie proxy server or something, or possibly get a "honey trap" set up?

Painful as I only want secure stress free connections to the web..

This is a sample of what is happening over the last 2 days in my system logs on my Router.

My wife has just had a baby boy and I have no time for gaming right now!!!

So I have a few items whcih I am clearing out, and some more to come, but currently I have a few Samsung 2233rz's and a Benq XL2410T, and a ASUS 285 GTX. Just thought id give you heads up as think they are all reasonably priced.

COD MW3 (38 comments)

Single player seems pretty good so far with regards to graphics..Excellent frames (better than Battlefield 3), better movement then bf3 too.. It is a little limited with the type of kills and the objectives in the missions you do though or am I wrong?

Have not played any of the COD series before, so wondered what the Multiplayer was all about?

Got the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3, can't get the mofo to work in FullScreen, anyone got a solution?

Certainly lives up to its name at the moment as it is "Limited"

EDIT: playing it in windows mode atm, and it is very good crack

EDIT: manged to get it working in Fullscreen and it plays better this way. Full res at 1920x1080 is very clear. Santa can I have an SLI 590 to run it smoothly

Missed a few things at start which buggered up my 100% completion.

So for those who want to get it right from the start this is pretty comprehensive, plus some secret missions.

Id update (569 comments)

I was listening to a few streams over the weekend and it seems that people have snippets of information about an update, which has some sort of QLRanks system integrated, plus some other goodies.

Was this just wishful thinking or does anyone have any other information? Like Where? when? what?
