DreamHack Winter 2010: Preview (32 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 11:58 CST, 23 November 2010 - iMsg
TEK9 are preparing their coverage of the DreamHack Winter 2010 Quake Live tournaments, posting a Preview of the tend players you need to look out for the most.

The first post, released earlier today, focuses on the Favourites of the event. It included an extensive look at players such as Russia Cooller, Belarus Cypher and United States of America rapha.

Here is a small excerpt of the article:
"There is one golden rule concerning champions and winning streaks: they will end. The question usually focuses on the when and not how or if. Oddly enough, the home-grown QuakeCon 2010 would be the setting and place for Shane "rapha" Hendrixson's reign to end. Prior to the event, he had said he did not feel as comfortable as usual and would experience a hard event, but the way and spot he crashed out was far outside anyone's expectations. Throughout the event he was looking shaky and the gruesome schedule (as he was also playing for a CTF team there and everyone constantly had to switch between CTF and Duel) played a toll on his nerves and his usually so calm self."
So if you are interested in Quake Live and looking forward to the DreamHack Winter 2010 events, be sure to head on over to TEK-9 and read this article.

TEK9 Talk nVc (36 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 12:11 CDT, 30 October 2010 - iMsg
TEK9 have had a talk with United Kingdom Ziggy "nVc" Orzeszek about the birth and growth of Level Up TV, how he feels he has been doing in Quake Live in both TDM as well as Duel, about his ENC escapades and his experiences in other games. Here is a short snippet of the interview:
How did you come up with the idea of starting a broadcasting company? And who else was involved exactly?

Back in November 2009 myself and the rest of team immune were like now, playing Quake Live TDM. The gametype itself though is by all standards, relatively inactive. Thus came the concept of Level Up TV to effectively just pass the time and keep us involved within the Quake scene. We'd all played at a decent level and we found that the other organisations covering the game at that time lacked in real in-depth commentary with players that knew the game inside out. We were also fortunate that I had my foot in other games like Team Fortress 2 and therefore had access to high profile players within those other games who we could draft in to help out and grow the brand. The guys who help run the team now are myself, disrepute and most recently trance who we refer to as the "Technical Director" between us. He manages all of the streaming side of things.
Head on over to TEK9 Talk nVc to find out what the Brit has to say about Quake Live now.

Posted by Bocerbo @ 17:27 CDT, 18 March 2010 - iMsg
LowLandLions has been consistently adding players to its StarCraft roster, which started by picking up the StarCraft legend Jos "ret" de Kroon and later World of Warcraft hero Olivier "Orly" Bellemans.

Today, they have added another player to their already exquisite roster, adding Ian "zion" Gryncewicz, who has been playing StarCraft for years on end and has now made the transition into StarCraft II Beta as well.

He will be training together with the LowLandLions StarCraft players and hopefully, they will all be able to improve together and keep on growing in this new game.

Ian had the following to say about joining up:

My name is Ian ,(zion) and i'm 22 year's old. I've been hyper ever since the beta came out and when I joined LLL, I suddenly had a huge motivation boost. I am hoping to improve a lot in the future in preparation for upcoming lans or tournaments.

Be sure to check out the LowLandLions website for the announcement and to see who is in the line-up: LowLandLions.com.

Orly joins up with LowLandLions (3 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 12:28 CST, 2 March 2010 - iMsg
Former SK.WoW star, Olivier "Orly" Bellemans, has decided to join up with LowLandLions. The WoW expert has been interested in StarCraft for quite a while already, but his performance in last weekend's StarCraft II Zotac Cup showed the Belgian has quite a lot of promise and potential to become a stronghold in StarCraft II.

He will join Jos "ret" De Kroon in LowLandLions, who now have some of the strongest players in the RTS scene in the Benelux playing under their flag. Olivier Bellemans had the following to say about his addition:

" I'm glad to have found a home at the LowLandLions to represent Belgium, the Netherlands as well as Luxembourg at all events the future has in store for us. It's an honor to be joining the team alongside Ret, a player that has been performing at a top level ever since I started following the StarCraft scene. I hope to be as dedicated as him to the game and keep improving throughout my career.

Even though our countries are small, I feel our presence in the RTS genre is strong and there is not a doubt on my mind the LowLandLions will become a household name in the world of StarCraft."

Jos "ret" De Kroon joins up with LLL (2 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 12:18 CST, 4 February 2010 - iMsg
One of the very few European gamers to have been invited over to South-Korea, Jos "ret" De Kroon, has recently returned from his unique experience with the eSTRO team to join up with the premier Benelux gaming organisation, LowLandLions.

He will be the very first StarCraft player for LowLandLions and with such results as winning the DreamHack Summer 2009 event as well as coming second, only losing to IdrA who is living in South-Korea as we speak, in the ESL Intel Major Series, he is definitely one of the most promising StarCraft players from Europe.

The man himself had the following to say about his move:

" I joined LLL because I think they are a team with a bright future and a lot of potential. I also really like the fact they are based in the benelux, and are able to support me locally. I look forward to working together with Low Land Lions to attend lots of SC2 events in the future and produce SC2 content for the fans of the game."

One of the most reputable hardcopy e-Sports magazines in the Benelux, Chief, have conducted an interesting interview with the main Swede to beat in Quake Live currently, LowLandLions player Sweden Magnus "fox" Olsson.

They talk about Quake Live mainly and how Magnus views the recent economic downturn in gaming, how he feels his chances in the new game are and whether or not we will see him return to the world of TDM any time soon.

meet the legend: Magnus "fox" Olsson (19 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 13:36 CST, 19 January 2009 - iMsg
Due to popular demand we have chosen to release the entire article at once earlier today as we feel people were getting tired with the waiting. This of course means you will be given quite a lot to read all at once about Magnus Olsson in Quake 3 and Quake Live as well as how he thinks the future of Quake looks like.

On top of that there are some general questions as well who deal with Quake and his short time in Team Fortress 2. Most of the events of 2008 are dealt with in detail and what he felt about his performance.

To close things off, this also means the competition will go live now with a total of five questions asked for you to figure out (some answers will be found in the interview somewhere and some will have to be found on the world wide web):

Week 1: How tall is Magnus "fox" Olsson (in cm)?
Week 2: Under which team did fox and proZaC play together in TDM?
Week 3: How many times did fox place top5 in all Quake IV 1on1 events he attended?
Week 4: What is the full name of Magnus his girlfriend?
Week 5: Out of which Swedish players did the Swedish national team exist when they won ESWC 2004 gold (nickname+full name)?

The three people who answered the most questions correctly will be given one of the following three prizes:

1. ATi RV770 Pro
2. GeIL Evo One DDR2 (4GB)
3. Sennheiser HD515 Headphones

So be sure to check out the final part of the interview as well as further instruction as to how to partake in this rewarding competition right here: LowLandLions.com

meet the legend Magnus "fox" Olsson - Q4 (41 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 14:23 CST, 11 January 2009 - iMsg
This week the attention shifts from Quake III to Quake IV, from its immediate release until the last real competitive event one year later. Magnus "fox" Olsson shares his view on the different events and more in particular about how he placed at them and how he felt the game stacked up to its older brother, Quake III.

This is one of the questions you can read in this week's edition:
The Intel Summer Championships lurked around the corner immediately after and somehow it seemed all the attention had shifted over to toxjq and Ztrider, who was a rising talent by then, in the Swedish scene, did you experience this as well?
One of the following prizes can still be won if you enter in the competition, each week we ask a question and after six times the person who managed to answer the most questions correctly will win one of these prizes:

1. Radeon HD 4850 (RV770PRO)
2. GeIL Evo One DDR2 (4GB)
3. Sennheiser HD515 Headphones

Thus far we have already have two rounds and we everyone already had time to look for answers on the following questions:

Week 1: How tall is Magnus "fox" Olsson (in cm)?
Week 2: Under which team did fox and proZaC play together in TDM?

and if you want to stay in the running for one of these prizes then be sure to check out the third question.

The interview as well as the full details concerning the competition can be found on LowLandLions.com.

Magnus "fox" Olsson is a household name in the competitive Quake community and for that reason I chose to ask him the most extensive interview he has ever done, due to its size we had to split it up in five parts. Of those five, the first one (dealing with his personal life and his roots in Quake 3 TDM) has been released just now on the LowLandLions website.

To make it more interesting for all of you, we chose to link some interesting prizes to the interview series as well. Each week we release a new part as well as a new question about Magnus Olsson. Those that know him best (and subsequently did the best when answering those five questions) will be rewarded with one of the following prizes:
1. Radeon HD 4850 (RV770PRO)
2. GeIL Evo One DDR2 (4GB)
3. Sennheiser HD515 Headphones
The interview as well as the full details concerning the competition can be found on the aforementioned link.

LowLandLions interviews top COD4 Teams (15 comments)
Posted by Bocerbo @ 15:17 CDT, 3 September 2008 - iMsg
The LowLandLions community website decided to host a whole series of interviews with a player in each of the top teams across Europe and even North-America concerning the three big LANs during August.

Each interviews takes the interviewee chronologically through the events, discussing their performance in the most interesting games and how the teams handled defeat and victory. Besides that the interviews have been tried to keep as up-to-date as possible, by asking questions concerning possible line-up changes that happened after the event due to disappointing results.
