2nd Coming: Cup 4 (NAQL1v1) (26 comments)
Posted by _2 @ 17:19 CDT, 24 October 2008 - iMsg
After soon having successfully run three North American Quake Live 1v1 Cups, we are attempting to reach 64 players for Cup 4. Cup 1 had 16 players and was won by illusionS. Cup 2 had 32 players and was won by EG.chance. Cup 3 is nearing the end, with testament and fake_id set to play each other tonight, the winner playing FienD, and the winner of that playing EG.chance for the Grand Final.

Cup 3 Bracket

If you're interested in signing up for Cup 4, join #naql1v1 on irc.quakenet.org and send a message to myself, 2, letting me know that you want to play in Cup 4. Europeans are welcome to enter, but matches will be played on U.S. servers. Let's try to get 64 players!

The 2nd Coming: Cup 1 - Official Results (100 comments)
Posted by _2 @ 12:26 CDT, 4 September 2008 - iMsg
The first official online QuakeLive Quake Live tournament concluded last night with Canada illusionS taking the championship in a well played match against United States of America karabas. karabas won the 1st map, tourney4, 20-16, but illusionS came back strong on the 2nd map, dm6, to win 33-8, and he maintained control through the tiebreaker, tourney7, to win 18-6 and win his first ever duel tournament! Congratulations to illusionS. A special congratulations goes out to United States of America Slasher who surprised everyone in the tournament by taking 3rd.

The tournament results can temporarily be viewed online, but Cup 2 is scheduled to begin next week, and when it does, the tournament bracket will be cleared, and the new bracket will be shown. If you'd like to sign up for the 2nd Coming: Cup 2, you can join #naql1v1 and message "2" with your signup. Cup 2 will be a 32 player double elimination tournament using the same maps as Cup 1 (dm6, dm13, tourney4, tourney6, and tourney7). As of right now, there are 18 spots left.

Here are some of the players we have signed up for Cup 2 so far:
Canada EG|griffin
United States of America EG|chance
Canada illusionS
United States of America bLt
Canada EG|gellehsak
United States of America Slasher
Canada twm|gillz
Canada mojo
United States of America [id]SyncError
United States of America jp*TGM

Signups have CLOSED! We have reached our 32 player limit. The Cup 2 bracket will be up within a few days.

We've had many matches played already, including all but one of the first round matches. Slasher is certainly the Cinderella of the tournament, as he is currently in the winners' semi-finals waiting to play karabas. Listed below are results of the matches played so far:

illusionS > ziion 2-0 (20-5 dm6, 11-8 t7)
guts > Grumx 2-0 (11-10 t4, 7-5 t7)
karabas > Detonator (15-1 dm6, 12-3 t7)
Slasher > 2 2-1 (13-6 t7, 7-20 t4, 8-5 dm13)
flame > waar 2-0 (14-1 t4, 30--1 dm6)

Losers' Round 1:
2 > waar 2-0 (25--1 t7, 14--1 t6)
Detonator > Grumx 2-1 (9-11 dm13, 15-7 t6, ff)

Winners' Quarter-Finals:

NAQL1v1 Double-Elimination Tournament (4 comments)
Posted by _2 @ 19:42 CDT, 11 August 2008 - iMsg
Since returning from QCON, I've had the urge to play some more competitive QL, so I'm going to run a double-elimination 1v1 tournament for it. I'll most likely run it with the rules QCON used (same maps, each player tosses one, etc) just to make things simple.

As of right now I'm not entirely sure where I'll be hosting it (I have a couple options) or what I'll be calling it, but if you'd like to participate, you can message me on irc.quakenet.org in #susani or #truecarnage (I'm in there as "_2"). Please give me your most recognizable alias(es) in order for seeding to be as accurate as possible.

Obviously, this tournament is limited to people holding a QL beta key. As of right now, screenshots and demos will not be posted because of the QL NDA, but all results will be posted as quickly as possible. Anyone outside of North America is welcome to participate, but matches will be played on the North American QL servers.

More details to follow shortly.
