Hi

Every time I start q4max (ver 0.82) it crashes and monitor loses all graphic input i.e goes blank showing no source though pc is running. It recovers after pressing multiple keys ctrl-alt-del most times and can take up to 15 mins.

no general issues with PC when browisng or running normally.

DXdiag shows everything is good.

When I start q4max, its starts up fine and then weird green jagged lines across the screen and graphics degenrate..and then monitor goes blank and pc wont respond.

It all started today and I have reinstalled q4 and q4max from scratch as well as reinstalling graphics drivers but no joy. Sometimes it takes a little longer for game to crash i.e. in-game and most often it does it straight away at the first screen when it has finished loading and a few times when I am joining a server.

twice I have seen another dialogue box stating OpenGl has encountered an irrecoverable error ...whilst quake 4 has been frozen and not responding... but not other times.

Only things I have installed lately is tune up utilities and mumble.

is there an option to turn on logging in Q4max which may give me a clue as to what is happening?

If someoen has come across this issue and can hlep, it would be appreciated..

p.s I had turned on seta r_smp 1 a few days back but turned it back off again today and it still crashes.

I use nvidia 7950GT 512 mb graphics card (driver ver 180.50 wqhl) with winxp 64 bit service pack 2, 2 gb ram, amd athlon fx-62 cpu.


edit: I just tried it and it seems to be working okay without making any changes ...no crash , with multiple cpu support on and off :( ..windows eventvwr is uselss and is not recordingwhjat is happening either. It will most probably happen again though,
