Asus vg248qe windows dragging (16 comments)
Posted by acid_reptile @ 08:27 CST, 1 March 2015 - iMsg
So i bought a new monitor because i thought my 2233rz is broken. i got some graphic errors now and then while playing quake. Fortunatly it was just my 560ti which was dieing slowly. (i was already on my last working DVI port. HDMI broke a long time ago)

Now i noticed that dragging windows seems to be much smoother on the 120hz samsung as on the 144hz asus screen. Is that normal? Not that this would be a problem. Just wondering. The monitor seems awesome for gaming, but i have to use this old ati 4850 HD. It does 200-250 FPS in quake, but my 2233rz is still going strong. I think about getting a new graphics card for the money, as i also play other games which only do like 45 fps now. (with the 560ti it was only 20-30 fps more, so it was time to upgrade anyways)

So someone noticed the same with dragging windows? Shouldn't it be much smoother than on the samsung 120hz?

Cloth pads like Mantis Control? (6 comments)
Posted by acid_reptile @ 06:58 CST, 18 February 2015 - iMsg
So i recently switched to cloth pads, after like 10 years of using hardpads. Still had this hardly ever used razer mantis control laying around. I bought it back in the days when i was playing with laser mice (G3,G9)

I tried it a few days ago and i really like it for my opticals (G1,mx300&Aurora)

Long story short, i ordered a goliathus control and was pretty sure they send me the speed edition. Then i checked the pictures on the razer zone page and was like wtf. It's actually the control edition. There's like 10 times more friction on the mantis control. They don't compare in the slightest. I don't see why so many people recommend this pad. (unless they like low friction and play very low sens) Is the speed edition even faster? or is it the other way around with the names? (if i remember right this wouldn't be the first time)

Any recommendations?

Broke my kana (20 comments)
Posted by acid_reptile @ 06:56 CST, 2 February 2014 - iMsg
Received my steelseries kana v2 yesterday. Was happy to try it out finally. Plugged it in installed the driver (just to be sure about the cpi steps and for sensitivity calculating.)

Then the driver was auto checking for firmware version. I didn't check the screen the whole time but i guess the firmware updated at some time, while the mousewheel was blinking. Im sure it didn't fail. At least there was no message (and it said 100%). I also don't use any energy saving features for USB and my system runs pretty stable.

However after the firmware update the wheel stopped blinking and the cursor didn't move anymore. Only the red led under the mouse was ON all the time (even when the computer is OFF.)

Should i just RMA it to the online store i bought it? I mean was it my own fault or something. Was it a faulty unit?
The whole thing sucks as i wasn't even sure if i wouldn't RMA it anyway. The shape would be something i would have get used to first.

Logitech G1 Sensor Question (2 comments)
Posted by acid_reptile @ 19:21 CDT, 28 October 2011 - iMsg
Does someone have any details about the newer G1 sensor (1000 DPI,genuine) u can order on ebay? (china, korea).

Any experience on how it performs against the old G1? (800 DPI).

Level of predicion/angle snapping ?

btw,
I ordered 2 non-genuine versions a few months ago, which allow to switch between 1000/1400 DPI by buttonpress (driverless). But it wasn't the real deal bcs the level of prediction was ridiculous. (LOD an everything was alright)

Windows7 How i changed Refreshrate (ATI) (7 comments)
Posted by acid_reptile @ 21:21 CST, 27 January 2010 - iMsg
It's basically the same way i used to change refreshrates on XP 32bit.
The problem for me, after switching to windows 7, was the new confusing CCC layout.
The lost sections are there, just harder to find.

I tested this on Windows 7 (7600) 32&64 bit. And Catalyst 9.12

1. download Refreshforce http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/

2. run ReForce.exe, select your screen and type in ur desired resolution and fresh rate.

3. open catalyst control center and go to Graphics / Desktops & Displays

4. click on the smal black arrow on the pic (Analog or Digital)

5. choose "configure" and uncheck "Use Extend Display..." and select desired display mode. Then click apply.
