7th week of the QWDL starts tomorrow

The first season of the Quakeworld Duel League has been running for now quite a bit and it is time to give all you non-QW-players some information about it. The league started on the 14th of September with 208 players from 21 nations who have played almost 800 games until today. The basic idea is to have different divisions with different skill levels. The games are played in a single round-robin system. At the end of the season the two top players of each divisions will promote to the next higher the two players at the bottom will demote to the next lower division. We are talking about 25 divisions with 8 players each, with some exceptions..
Additionally, the QWDL page offers a variety of gimmicks and services. Players are encouraged to upload game logs to the database. From this logs we grant awards to individual player such as: LG Beast, Camper, Road Runner, God of Prediction, Pussy Win and many more. Also, each and every player can and should upload demos of their matches. This gives everybody the possibility to watch games from all kinds of different skill levels.
The schedule system allows players to set a specific date for their games, which are announced by the QWDL-Bot. To invite the bot to your IRC-Channel type: "/INVITE QWDLBot #channelName". After the bot has entered your channel you can modify it to only inform you about divisions your are interested in or how often you should be informed.
The league gave an activity boost to the whole QW 1v1 scene in general. You can see people practicing everywhere and you have several division 0 games per week, on which you can bet some virtual game money on QW Goldrush.
So if this made you interested in some QW action, just download nQuake, an easy to to use installer with everything you need to play QW, drop by at #qwrookie to find other beginners to play with or just have a look at the divisions and challenge the players from bottom to top till you find someone your skill.
