Russian style (28 comments)

This might sound weird and I believe its a kinda stupid thing to care about but whatever,

I really like watching "russian style" players demos with the quick short mousemovements and I want to play like that myself too, I know a lot of you probably doesnt care about how your mousemovement looks but i still do ;). And since Im pretty new to quake its ofcourse good to change early before I get too used to how i play now.

In the movie "q3fuel2" most of the players are using quick short movements just like that, and Im wondering if most of those players also sits like cooller with the keyboard on the knees etc...

cooller, czm, fox, socrates, toxic, jibo, enemy, keeper, st_germain, chance, cherya, fazz

Those are the players on that vid, I know cooller and jibo sits like that but how about enemy, keeper and cherya? If they do, Im confused why I cant see any players who are sitting "normal" using the same quick short kind of mousemovement :/, any ups and/or downs with this style? How many of you are playing like this?

Well, thanks in advance.. :)

Mouseaccel (43 comments)

Ok, so I've decided to start using accel in ql, but I really need to clear some things out...

Since I'm new to this I want to have SOME idea about "normal settings" before I stick with anything.

1. Sensitivity works the same way as m_pitch/yaw, right?

2. How does the dpi of your mouse affect the acceleration? atm im @ 1800 dpi with my deathadder, max sens in the driver and default in windows. I have 0.1 accel in ql with sens 0.4 and it feels pretty good. If I turn off the accel i need about 60cm to turn a 360.

3. What accel do you recommend to use for 1800 dpi, should I lower my dpi? I noticed that if I switched to 900 dpi 0.1 accel was almost nothing, but still it seems like a bit of overkill to use around 1 accel as some ppl do?

4. Just to get some guidelines it would be great if anyone knows what sens for example fox uses in cm/360 if he turns off the accel. How much does the sens really do when accel is enabled?

5. And is it normal to just need like 5-7 cm to make a quick 360 with accel on?

6. Does the hz really matter when talking about sensitivity/accel. I use 1000 atm, It cant be better to use 500,rigth?

Ive seen that z4 has used 0.05 accel even when mice didnt have so much DPI, still it looks pretty accelerated on his demos

Try to not start talk about codes and stuff, just give som advices and I'll try the rest for myself, thanks in advance :D

Lag when playing demos (8 comments)
Posted by kallgren @ 11:34 CST, 5 January 2009 - iMsg
Hi, I´ve just started playing quake 3, and I was going to record a demo, I´ve read that you have to write g_synchronousclients 1 before you /record, so I did that and now it was really laggy ... But I had seen on an site that you could write g_synchronousclients 0 after you´ve started the recording, so I did that and now the lag was gone, but when I later on was viewing my demo the lag was there again, have I missed something or what can be the problem ?

I also have another problem, when taking print screens the picture is much darker than ingame EXAMPLE http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/-w.JPG , and when taking F11 Screens in quake it looks a little brighter than ingame EXAMPLE http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/2009_01_05-18_27_19-998.jpg
Is it meant to be like this ?, if so, how do I render cl_avidemo pics in right colors ?

And a third small thing, i just wonder what command to use if I want the lightning look like this http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/-a.png , instead of this http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman01/---------b.jpg
:)

Thanks in advance
