Give this terrible forum a picture (2 comments)

Bad enough having a console forum, then the picture next to it is broken and is driving my non-existant OCD nuts.

Might I suggest a picture of a wall of dicks?

Team Liquid StarLeague Finals [28.02.10] (5 comments)

Who's interested? I saw both semifinal matches and they were somewhat anticlimactic (apart from nony sniping JF's reavers like champ). Anybody have any favourites to win? I think nony will take the title convincingly but I'm rooting for Mondragon out of some deviant combination of EU/Zerg patriotism.

Regardless, it should be a fun match to watch, would be cool to watch it live with you guys on IRC.

WMO Help (7 comments)

Once again I'm in need of your wisdom, ESR.

Recently my Wheel Mouse Optical has been behaving oddly. Now I've used the wmo itself for years, but I only bought this particular one a few months ago.

What is happening is that when I stop moving it the rear red light switches off and the cursor (in windows) tends to disappear, only reappearing upon moving it again. It's almost acting like a wireless mouse low on battery. Ingame this manifests as mouse lag as if vsync is on.

I had previously overclocked my USB ports to 500 Hz to make the most out of the sensor, but recently reverted back to 125 Hz because Vista was being a pain and forcing me to disable driver signing on every startup. This issue has been occurring at both polling rates for the a past few weeks.

I tried wiggling the mouse cable to test if there was something loose there but I don't think that is the case. My guess is that it could be something to do with a power saving feature somewhere, but I don't know where to start.

So if someone has experience or ever heard of this problem your input would be much appreciated.

Cheers

CRT Advice (25 comments)

I realise this topic comes up frequently but I did a quick search and needed some more information. The key criteria for me will be maximum refresh rate (I have no qualms gaming at lower resolutions in order to achieve this), usability and general quality (i.e. nothing that will break down in 6 months with normal usage). I will mainly be using this for gaming (inclucing quakeworld, cpma and warsow).

I've been looking at a few monitors in particular:
- Iiyama vision master pro 454 (which I believe can achieve up to 200 Hz)
- Samsung Syncmaster 997
- Compaq P1220 Monitor (I have heard it can achieve 160 Hz but I couldn't readily find much information)
- And generally I am open to suggestions. I have read that the Diamondtron/Trinitron type monitors are held in high regard.

200 Hz is probably a little excessive ;p, but I'm looking for a minimum of 120. I would really appreciate advice from those who have owned these (or others) first hand and have experience with them.

Thanks in advance.
