QuakeLive Update August 31, 2010 (148 comments)
Posted by QuakeLiveTV @ 22:22 CDT, 31 August 2010 - iMsg
Today's update is most notably to address the request and concerns of players who have expressed interest in playing with specific team sizes in team gametypes, such as the ability to play 2v2 Clan Arena, 2v2 Team Deathmatch or 4v4 CTF. Now, up to 16 players may join any game server and the active teamsize will determine how many of those players may participate in the match. This allows you, the players, to decide what you like to play (and more room for spectators to fill in the gaps when players drop)!

While everyone is having fun trying out the new teamsize options, you'll notice that we now display a teammate's health and armor status when you hover your crosshair over them so that you may easily identify which teammates need additional health, armor, or assistance. So no more excuses! Be sure to leave that armor for your team's flag carrier who so badly needs it!

Next week we plan on having another small update with additional fixes and features, followed soon after by our first major Premium content update in mid-September.

QuakeLiveTV sits down with EG|clampOK (74 comments)
Posted by QuakeLiveTV @ 16:14 CDT, 27 May 2010 - iMsg
Our very own staff member gnnr recently got a chance to interview Sabian "clampOK" Hayblum who plays base defense for the Evil Geniuses CTF team. We talked about EG's chances at this years Quakecon tournament and about how he got started in gaming.

( QLTV|gnnr ) When did you first start gaming? Besides Quake, what are your favorite titles?

( EG|clampOK ) I first started gaming with Mario Bros. on the original NES when I was about 4. However, I'd say I really began taking gaming as more than just a fun hobby around 14 when I started playing Doom 3. I've always been a fan of First Person Shooters and Doom 3 introduced me to the competitive aspect of gaming. Other than FPS games, I'm a huge fan of StarCraft because of just how far the game can be taken. I think that ever since I was young, it was the notion of improving and being extremely good at a game that excited me even more so than actually enjoying the game itself. I'm very competitive :)

QuakeLive TV turns 1! (26 comments)

On May 13th, 2009, QuakeLive TV was born. Today, we stand with half a million unique hits and almost 4 million page views under our belt - and boy, has it been one hell of a ride!

From King of the Hill to QuakeCon, we've enjoyed every aspect of QuakeLive coverage.

Tonight, in a special edition of the QuadCast @ 10:30 EDT, the QLTV staff will get on the mic and talk about the 1st year: ups, downs, and everything in between!

Click here for the highlights of QuakeLive TV's first year

Obligatory excerpt:
We had attended QuakeCon 2008 to broadcast ET:QW matches and had witnessed the QuakeLive hype first hand. We knew that ET:QW was on its last legs and were keen to find our next eSports passion, so starting QLTV was really a no-brainer.

QuakeNight 2v2 TDM Grand Final Coverage (52 comments)

Scheduled: 22:00 CDT, 26 April 2010 to 23:00 CDT, 26 April 2010

Tonight at 21:00 CST, QuakeLive.TV brings you coverage of the QuakeNight TDM 2v2 Grand Final between Q2 (United States of America DaHanG, United States of America Scooby) and DaFoneMen (United States of America swooped, Canada Flysher, United States of America KGB)!

DaFoneMen recently defeated Evil Geniuses, widely considered a huge upset, in the NGL CTF Grand Finals. Now, DFM must face off against the Quake 2 legends DaHanG and Scooby in 2v2 TDM -- a game type that emphasizes individual skill and map control.

swooped has had the spotlight on him with DFM vs. EG and the SilentGamers Grand Finals last week -- will he deliver? Can DaHanG respond to his CTF team's loss? Is Scooby a top level QuakeLive player, too? Who will emerge victorious?

All these questions and more shall be answered tonight!!

Today marks the conclusion of our Year One Event, I hope everyone has enjoyed the first year of Beta and was able to earn their Year One award.

I know twelve players who certainly earned their awards this week as the world's best faced off at the ESL Intel Extreme Masters Seasons IV World Championships in Hannover, Germany. Earning the first IEM World Champion title was Shane "rapha" Hendrixson of the United States who defeated Anton "Cooller" Singov of Russia. Maciej "srsav3krazer" Krzykowski of Poland seized third place after his victory in the relegation match verses Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky. Congratulations to all of the ESL IEM4 participants and best of luck in future competitions. We have added four new awards to recognize these twelve professionals, shiny flair for their profiles.

In other recent news, the venue and dates for QuakeCon 2010 have been announced. This August 12th-15th, the event returns to the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas and is FREE to all attendees. We hope to see you there.

Also included in today's update are some additional improvements to the Duel Spectator function, extensions upon the existing AutoAction record features, and some improvements made to diagnose and improve PunkBuster interactions. Check out our Devblog for a full list of changes.

OSE CTF Finals & NGL CA Finals (36 comments)

Scheduled: 20:30 CDT, 3 September 2009 to 22:30 CDT, 3 September 2009
Schedule: Passed

With QuakeCon 2009 behind us, we can get back to our normal every day routines of viewing some of the best online QUAKE LIVE action. In an effort to make this happen why not kick off with the National Gaming League CA finals and the Online Sports Entertainment CTF finals. All of this happening on a jam packed Thursday, September 3rd.

FoJ vs f27 | NGL CA Finals | Thursday, September 3 at 9:30pm EDT
With a bit of a delay in the final stages of the NGL Clan Arena tournament due to QuakeCon, we are finally going to see the result to the NGL Clan Arena finals live. With two very talented teams fighting for the top spot, it is bound to be a match that will wow each and every viewer. Fires of Judaism is one of the top clans in Quake Live due to their domination of just about every single mod. But let’s not forget about Focus 27 and their stacked lineup. With ben running the show, backed by carnage, wn, and wreck, it's bound to be an amazing outing of skill and determination.

eMG vs EG | OSE CTF Finals | Thursday, September 3 at 10:30pm EDT
With Team EG coming off of an amazing winning performance at this year’s QuakeCon, they're looking to seek revenge against eMg who got the better of them in the NGL CTF finals. These two teams, being no strangers to CTF, will certainly come out guns blazing. eMg, looking to deny EG of another finals win, will certainly need to bring their A-game in order to do so. There is no doubt that this will be one of the most intense CTF matches that QL.TV will have the privilege of covering. So grab your popcorn and pop-a-squat because you're in for a treat!

As always don’t miss the action on www.quake-live.tv!

QuakeLive.TV: King of the Hill Blood Run (97 comments)
Posted by QuakeLiveTV @ 14:41 CDT, 10 June 2009 - iMsg
To celebrate last night's release of the famed duel map, Blood Run by "ztn", QuakeLive.TV will host a special King of the Hill event at 20:00 CDT, 10 June 2009. For anyone new to this event, it is a 1v1 mini-tourney open to the entire QuakeLive community. Anyone can join the server and their attempts to become King of the Hill will be broadcasted to the masses. The winner stays to defend their spot until defeated and a new King is crowned.

At 19:30 CST, we'll switch gears and feature an exhibition between top duelers chance and whaz. Whoever is the current "King" in our KotH tourney will test their mettle against the exhibition winner.

From then on, we have an all-star lineup of duelers ready to try to take down the reigning King. There's one more catch: We'd like to really feature the impressiveness that is Blood Run, as it has earned its place as one of the best dueling maps in Quake history for a reason, and ask that matches be played on the new map until the current King has been undefeated two times, at which point, the challenger can request a different map. If the King is toppled, we head back to Blood Run.

Tune in for and participate in our King of the Hill Blood Run Special Feature tonight at 19:00 CST at QuakeLive.TV!
