Here is a news about a nice and active tdm 4on4 pickup which was written by
rmzs.
In the channel
#tdminvite on Quakenet there are games running from early morning till late night. The channel was brought back to life about 1 month ago, and the activity in the pickup has been steadily rising - to the point where it now runs two pickups at the same time at peak hours in the evening.
Despite the name, the channel is completely open and free to join.
Newcomers are very welcome - no one will flame you for a bad score here! And the level is by no means daunting, sure the pickup has some very good players playing now and then but we strive to make fair teams in every round - games are much more enjoyable then.
There are three things you should make sure to do when you add up:
1. Have a bind to throw a weapon to your teammates. Two assault rifles are a lot better than one.
2. Do your best - don't die on purpose because you are raging. And finish the game, leaving mid-game is strictly forbidden, if it isn't some emergency. A phonecall from your friend isn't an emergency, but if it's your sister calling you late at night it might be. Make sure to state it is an emergency and that you must leave, if this is the case.
3. Don't whine. Don't flame. Feel like telling your teammates off for not coming to the powerups on time? For not giving you a weapon? Don't. Take a 10-minute time-out to cool off, then come back and explain it in a chilled out and constructive way. Lets teach, not berate. Don't insult your enemy, especially if you have no rational reason to do so, or call them cheaters with wallhack just because you are angry. Don't take a game TOO serious.
Using Teamspeak is encouraged but not required.
How to add up:
The channel bot is named Turpo. It only responds to a few simple commands:
!add - this will add you to the pickup currently running. When eight people have added, the pickup will begin.
!remove - this will remove you from the pickup.
!top10 - shows who has played the most games in the pickup, and tells you how many you have played.
!lastgame - shows who played the last game, and when it was played.
!ts - reveals the Teamspeak IP-address.
The pickup currently has two servers on rotation - one in Amsterdam and one in Hamburg - both seem to give good pings for all northern- and central-europeans, except for the odd case of poor routing.
There are also at least two other TDM pickups, a scandinavian one in #msb.pickup (.se server) and a french one (.de/.fr servers) in #tdm2v2 - both of them run 2on2 most of the time.
