As some of you know, I am still a student. I've been very lucky this year to be able to spend all of it working on what I love most, gaming. However, now we get back to the start of the academic year. In September I will begin my last year of university, so therefore a lot of the time I'd normally spend streaming will be spent on actual studies. Although that's not to mean I won't stream at all.
This brings me to the topic of the thread. In order to continue with the activity on the channel, we have decided that we're going to recruit at least one new caster/streamer. This announcement is a call out to anyone who is interested. We are not so obsessed by how experienced or inexperienced you are in commentating games. Without making this look too much like a formal job application, I will bullet point what we are looking for.
- Quake lover, gaming addict
- Capable of streaming high quality video through Twitch
- Available for at least 4 week day evenings per week
- Self-motivated
- Clear voice and high level English skills
- Familiarity with Z Live and what's been happening through Quake Live's existence
- A shared vision
We want to continue pushing the channel forward with the right individuals. The right person(s) will also go through training with myself in order for the commentary and hosting to be of the quality you would expect to see on Z Live. A lot of the time that I've been working on this project, I've had to sacrifice many evenings in order to connect myself more closely with the community here in Quake. Who ever finds interest in this announcement needs to be on our wave length, as all of us in Z Live sacrifice social hours in order to get the best out of what we do. Of course, we reward hard work - but we don't want this to be the incentive. I've been casting now for a few years, a lot of work I did was for little or no money. At Z Live, we are fortunate enough to be in a position where we can offer something. Although the reason for my motivation is largely because I see a future for myself in the gaming industry, as well as a future for this company to grow.
I want to highlight to people that this is NOT the end of casting for me on Z Live. I'll still turn up to certain events when I'm able to, I will still host subscriber events and if the opportunity arises; I will go to LAN events.
If you're interested in applying, please contact us through
zhouseproductions.com. Tell us about yourself, why you want to join and why you think you are right for the part. Considering you are contacting us to shoutcast, sending in clips of your commentary will greatly add to your application.

Hey everyone
Today on the Subscriber KotH event we unveiled merchandise that we are selling at our new
shop.
As you will see on the posters written around the website, from every sale we put 10% aside to contribute to or create prizepools for QL tournaments. We'd like to be able to put money towards the Prague TDM LAN or create some Sunday tournaments that seem to be opening up (at the moment).
Currently we have deliveries set up for UK, Europe and the USA. If anyone is interested in purchases outside of those regions - please let us know through our
contact page.
With this project we are trying to create at least a small level of sustainability for the team in Z Live while also offering something back to the community, other than these stylish clothes ;)
Thanks everyone

I'm happy to announce our new movement guide series!
Before I get down to the nitty gritty bits, I understand that I'm posting on ESR at the moment. Many of you guys will already know most, if not everything that is being discussed in these videos. Please note that I'm not trying to teach you something new, but rather newer players that you may or may not be connected with. If you find these guides appropriate, then help us use these videos as a tool for getting newer players up to scratch with the complex movement physics of our beloved game.
Now, we currently have 6 episodes. Although it can very well be more than this, if anyone has suggestions for other guides then we are happy to create more episodes.
Enjoy!

Hello and welcome to JeeSports!
We're looking to expand our admin/referee base for Quakelive.
Initially your role will consist in helping in the management of all upcoming Quakelive events we are planning to start.
Your mission will be to ensure that tournaments run smoothly and players/teams get a good level of support when needed.
As you can see, we have quite enough tournaments every week, and we planning to start more events very soon before
DreamHack.
You will therefore have a broader involvement, input and impact on QL competitive scene growth.
Several referees to manage matches

After completing the
JeeSports September Series on Saturday the 1st October, where we saw
p0ni,
agent and
lotn1k taking the Open Series podium, and the Amateurs Series podium was taken by
Zhorez,
T1E,
pops, we are pleased to announce the tournaments we'll be hosting during
October. We have a new Coach in JeeSports Academy, we have Open Series Duel Cups with prizes for NA players as well as Open Series TDM 4v4 in place of CA 2v2. Check below for more information.
Open Duel Cup
This cup will be for everyone and anyone to enter. Once a week there will be a tournament with points to play for, the points can get you qualified to the Playoffs hosted at the end of the month where you can compete for the 160 prize pool. The 2nd Open Duel Cup held during the week can also get you qualified for the monthly invitational, there will be a cash prize for the 1st place contender.
Open Duel Cup for NA
This is a JeeSports Quakelive September 1v1 NA Open Series. This is a cup for NA players only. JeeSports will host weekly duel cups for NA with prizes from 25 euros up to 100 euros.
Amateur Duel Cup
This cup is designed for amateur players who want to improve their game. There will be two amateur cups per week. One cup will be for players to compete for points, this can allow them to qualify for the tournament at the end of the month (separate to the Open Duel Cup Invitational). The second weekly amateur cup will also be played for points although the 1st place contender will win an hour of coaching with one of our resident pro's (as seen in this news). The monthly play-offs will also have prizes for top 3 players.
4v4
Each week we will host a number of Open Cups giving the opportunity you the opportunity to win series points which will give you access to the monthly final where the Top 8 teams will duke it out for the title of TDM 4v4 Grand Champions.
The planned Playoffs dates are the 27th October for Amateur duel Playoffs, the 29th September for Open duel Playoffs and the 28th October for 4v4 Open Playoffs. But before that, the weekly schedule will look as following.

After completing the
JeeSports August Series on Saturday the 27th, where we saw

kRoNic taking the podium, we are pleased to announce the tournaments we'll be hosting during the
September Series.
There will be 3 types of cups: Open Duel Cup,Amateur Duel Cup and 2v2.
This cup will be for everyone and anyone to enter. The monthly play-offs will also have prizes for 1st and 2nd.
The 2v2 cups will alternate between Team Deathmatch and Clan Arena. If much interest is shown then it is possible that 4v4 TDM and CTF will be integrated in to the system.
The planned Playoffs dates are the 29th September for Amateur duel Playoffs, the 30th September for Open duel Playoffs and the 1st October for 2v2 Open Playoffs. But before that, the weekly schedule will look like this:

So - I'm looking to get internet in the house I'll be moving in to. There is a Virgin cable already installed in the house although I'm debating over what ISP to use.
I could go with BE who offer a Pro Contract with 24meg down and 2.4meg up, This costs £27 a month and requires a basic landline to use the connection on - so the total for the BE contract would be £37 a month + £80 installation fee.
Then there is Virgin Media who offer a 50Mb connection for £30 a month for the first 3 months and then it moves to £35 a month. Although since every student in the area will most likely be using a Virgin Media connection - there may be a small delay on when our connection actually works.
I heard VM has some stability issues although the general speed of the connection is good. Although BE has supposedly got much better customer service and does not have the same packet loss or latency issues that VM is said to sometimes have. I want the most reliable connection with lowest latency.
What would you guys pick? If i could get response from users of both connections that would be great!
