You now get a chance to speak out against his supposed "whine". I'll post a diff quote of his (along with the quote of his response) and you can then tell him how he's wrong. If you want a real debate on why quake live is failing then this is the thread for you.
A:
"There are reasons for the drop off of players, but it remains to be seen that it is for the reasons you state. " - Lorfa
****cooncidentally that they dropped off as soon as the game went live. cooncidence that alt accounts became and epidemic when tier slumming was stopped. ID advertised skilll matching. thats why most of the players, besides die hards, were even here in the first place. Its what was advertised and for some reason people didn't feel the game was worth even playing for free. why do you think the players dropped? you can't be that blind.*****
1. He's claiming the game dropped off in activity once it went live. Is he right? I say yes. Ever since the subscription model was announced at Quakecon 2010 last year, the ql population has drastically decreased in many areas on ql.
2. he claims skillmatching brought you to quake live? is he right? according to what many of you say youselves, yes.
3. He claims people didn't buy subscriptions because they feel it wasn't worth it? Is he right? I say yes, people didn't buy subscriptions or id would have more funds to continue forward with more frequent updates. I guess we'll never know since the awards showcasing how many people bought premium/pro accounts were erased. But its' fairly obvious if you follow the polls on the official ql forum where standard users outvoted subscribers.
4. He claims alt accounts have become epidemic since the renewed skillmatching system which puts new accounts in tier 3 at start and due to the fact that id stopped the ability to play down in certain modes (stopping tierslummers). Is he right. I say yes.
B
"This would require users to have a cell phone to play which is asking too much. Even if they do have a cell phone, they might not want to provide their number for this purpose. It is still circumventable, and like I said you are challenging people to beat the system which is not a good idea." - Lorfa
*****To play a game for FREE this is asking too much.? so just give up and let them burn it to the ground, instead of challenging them. very very poor attitude. and a not a company i would invest in. you do more harm then good with that attitude. ******
1) He claims doing nothing to stop alt accounts is damaging to the game. Is he right? i say yes. Even when punkbuster was in place, despite how bad it was, it was at least stopping the noob hackers (who can't make custom hacks). He's also right because blizzard has effectively removed alt accounts for battle.net's sc2 services by making people register on their site. So this idea that they "wont' provide phone numbers, etc has been proven false.
