Zowie FK rubber coating (2 comments)
Posted by szr @ 05:51 CDT, 1 June 2014 - iMsg
I am thinking about getting the Zowie FK 2014 but I am concerned that the rubber coating will be too slippery as I've tried the Zowie EC1 eVo in the past and I found the black rubber coating to actually be slippy instead of helping me grip the mouse...

So my question is does the new FK have the same coating as the EC1 eVo?

QLRanks.com - 24/7 Stream! (302 comments)
Posted by szr @ 14:59 CST, 20 November 2012 - iMsg
Hey guys, I am excited to announce a new project we've been working on for quite some time. We're now satisfied that it is stable enough to be left on its own :D.

You may be wondering what this is... Well, its a bot that automatically joins the best servers based on the players Elo. It then spectates them and streams it.

This means you will be able to watch the best games going at the moment, without worrying about servers being full etc. On top of that you will also be able to get more information than you normally would just spectating in-game.

Current features:
- Item timers on ANY server including non-premium servers
- Overlays during warmup showing information about the players who are about to play, their elo, world rank, previous wins/losses vs each other etc.
- More to come...

If you have any questions we'll will be happy to answer them :).

G9x Optimal Settings? (7 comments)
Posted by szr @ 08:55 CDT, 16 May 2012 - iMsg
Purchased a G9x last night and I was wondering if anyone knows what the optimal settings are for this mouse in terms of DPI, polling rate etc etc?

Reason I am asking this is because I know with some mice, going for the highest DPI for example can compromise performance like tracking etc.

QLRanks: In-game Elo Announcer (135 comments)
Posted by szr @ 14:47 CST, 7 November 2011 - iMsg
I finally got round to completing this useful tool which gives you the capability of getting peoples Elo's while you are in-game. To use it, all you need to do is run the program and set an in-game bind key for it, then once you are in game press your bind to scan all the players in your current server, then press the same key again to display everyone's Elo. It also has the option to display the info to everyone in the server or just to echo it to yourself. In the future I plan to make it possible to update yourself while you are in game so you don't need to use the bot in our IRC channel. Any help/feedback much appreciated, have fun :)

Update: Thanks for the feedback guys, here is version 1.5 which addresses the issues which were raised :). By the way, you may need to uninstall the previous version or else you will probably run into problems.

QLRanks.com - GreaseMonkey Script (37 comments)
Posted by szr @ 07:46 CDT, 26 August 2011 - iMsg
I just finished writing version 1.0 of our GreaseMonkey script, at the moment the scripts only feature is to display a player's ELO rating on their official QuakeLive.com profile page but I plan to add many more features in the very near future, one im working on at the moment is colour coding players names based on their ELO rating and displaying players ELO in the server info box. Eventually we plan to fully integrate QLRanks.com with QuakeLive.com.

PS: I made this thread to keep it separate from our main thread so I can receive feedback/suggestions and bug reports more easily, so please report bugs and fire away some suggestions! :)

EDIT: We are now working with wn on this, the guy who made the QL Alt Browser, he is very talented and has plenty of experience in this area, he has already made changes to my original script and made it more robust, so my version is officially obsolete. :)

QLRanks.com - QL Ladders w/o iD (894 comments)
Posted by szr @ 10:18 CDT, 24 August 2011 - iMsg
Hello, we are the QLRanks (aka QLR) team. Over the past week we have started working on a big project which aims to bring the much needed ladder rating system to the Quake Live community, we are making very good progress and we have already got a working proof of concept version. As you can see there is still quite a lot of work to be done especially with the front end in terms of web design and the ratings might seem a little inaccurate at the moment but that is just because it's so early on, we have only processed a few days worth of matches which means there isn't much interplay between the players, we also know that it's unlikely that we have every player in our database, however the system is constantly adjusting the ratings and they will improve rapidly.

As this is only a proof of concept and we are busy working on this project, the website will only be up for 6 hours as a sneak peak.

P.S. Details about how the system works will be included in an FAQ section.

Subscription Renewal (113 comments)
Posted by szr @ 10:52 CDT, 9 August 2011 - iMsg
So, my "Pro" subscription to Quake Live is about to end and im sure most other players subscriptions are about to expire too, what are your thoughts on this, are you going to renew? Im personally apprehensive about paying another £40+ for what I would call sub-standard value for money (intermittent updates and very low quality, no ladders etc and new maps are mainly old q3 maps...). It feels like we're being taken for mugs and im quite frankly sick of it.
