Three painfully long years ago, TimCon 9 was supposed to take place at the Esports Game Arena in the sleepy little town of Alphen aan den Rijn but was sadly cancelled, as many in-person events were, due to COVID-19. TimCon 9 was supposed to be our so-called 'big break' as, with the release of Diabotical on the horizon, both sponsors and attendees were showing great interest in the event.
Now three years later, the AFPS scene is still kicking (as it always will be) but the hype of DBT has died down a bit, we no longer have a list of sponsors to pick and choose from and to put it bluntly, most people have stopped playing. The AFPS scene once again looks a lot more like it did before the DBT hype, but that has never stopped us before. During the downtime, we've put a lot of energy into running online tournaments in Diabotical, CPMA and DOOMBRINGER and producing YouTube content for DeFRaG. In that time we've gained a lot of followers and support across the diverse Arena FPS and speedrunning communities.
So we are going into this TimCon 9 with less than what we had the first time we tried to do it, but in some ways we're going into it with more. A lot more. I cannot wait to see all your beautiful faces being lit up by gaming monitors as you frag (or defrag!) with friends and strangers alike. I know I speak for the rest of the TimCon crew when I say, thank you for the support.

The Keep will be hosting several duel servers around the world, and players will be allowed to use other community servers, as well. This event is for charity and we are asking participants to self-moderate during early stages of the tournament.
This post will be updated throughout the week with servers that contain the above maps. Please stay tuned for more details. Those maps are available on the [ IN THE KEEP ] Duel and [ IN THE KEEP ] EVERYTHING servers currently, but we will be putting up more servers around the world specifically for this event. TimCon on Tour. Our first European event was a great success, with a full 20 players in attendance it was sure to be. When I first arrived at the Esports Game Arena located in the soon-to-be-not-very-quiet town of Alphen a/d Rijn it was not exactly as I had expected. The first thing you see when you walk in is the bar, this was good news to me as I’m sure it was many others. Facing the bar you have a casual seating area stocked with board games and three full sized pool tables. Excellent.
As with any good 1980’s-themed hair style the party is firmly in the back, there you will find an array of twenty high-end gaming PCs, each one equipped with a 144hz monitor, gaming chair and a desk built for actual humans. This place is exactly what we were looking for, better actually. Anyway that’s enough scene setting for now, lets talk about what you really came here for.
Days one & two featured the cult classic Quake III mod; Challenge ProMode Arena and who better to showcase the game for us than previous TimCon attendees such as gaiia, kane, panikborke and BANNED gamer oni. Going up against event newcomers Terifire, Bjarke, promEUs and last but certainly not least, crouchslide cup champion Danskq.
The group stages saw a slight upset when we had a three-way tie in Group B (my fault entirely) between Danskq, Bjarke and kane. However after replaying a few matches the results were clear. Bjarke and Kane would go through to the playoffs and Danskq would be sent straight back to the bar, although not unhappily. Group C also had some drama as promEUs took a strong 2-0 win against BANNED gamer oni, which included his signature map cpm22. oni’s day took another turn for the worse as he also took an L from his arch nemesis Terifire, but vowed to do better next time. Terifire has since unbanned Oni from the CPMA discord and they now have a beautiful friendship, everyone wins in the end. This did leave the Lad from London free to cast some matches on stream though which is always a treat;
Day two bore witness to a fantastic playoff stage with titans gaiia and Terifire meeting up in a best-of-five winners bracket final. To much surprise, the Flying Dutchman took down previous TimCon Champion gaiia three to one but that wasn’t the end for the half-drunk Finnish powerhouse, tearing through the lower bracket final against another TimCon Champion. Commiserations to kane as he took third place.
Once again the two titans went head-to-head, Terifire versus gaiia in a best-of-seven Grand Final. Every other player seemed to drop whatever they were doing and rush to huddle behind the players to watch the magic happen (not without a quick trip to the bar first, of course.) Six grueling maps later we had our champion, to literally no-ones surprise, gaiia once again asserted himself as the greatest CPM player on LAN.
Days three & four had absolutely nothing, though. Nope, not a single thing happened….
Except of course for the second ever (yep) DIABOTICAL 1v1 tournament at TimConLAN. With a huge thanks to James ‘2GD’ Harding and the rest of the crew at TheGDStudio as they granted us access to the alpha version of the game for the second time at a TimCon event.
With every single player in attendance signed up for the cup it was sure to be a great tournament. Including map maker extraordinaire promEUs and his partner in crime Bjarke, previous DBT finalists STINKLIKESOCK, kane and nerVzzz. Of course who could forget the fantastic Finnish fellowship that is gaiia, Danskq and ch1llma.
It wasn’t all serious business through, we did have a very Dutch experience when Sinterklaas and his band of blackfaced companions gatecrashed the venue with an army of candy-throwing children.
The players wasted absolutely no time setting up for this one, understandably we were all very excited to sink our teeth into Diabotical on LAN. The group stages saw the usual suspects rising to the top. Naturally the previous champion STINKLIKESOCK made it through with ease, following him were close friends and fellow TimCon OGs nerVzzz, CropCircles and Lord Jellington. The Finns were not without representation of course. gaiia and Danskq rolled over the competition on their way to the playoffs, not without a little heated drama between Stink and Danskq though…
Up and coming German player Taka, representing Arctic eSports made it through his group along with Big ‘Bjarke’ Johnson. Most group games came down to a 2-0 but none of them were easy by any means, most players still finding their feet in the soon-to-be-released Arena FPS savior we all deserve. With the group games finished it was time to collect our Weebles as we jumped right into some Wipeout friendly matches until closing time.
In the final day of TimCon 8 it was time to decide who was the greatest Diabotical player in the building. Such events are not without upset though as we saw players like Stink, Bjarke, Terifire, Taka and nerVzzz all drop out of the lower bracket. Once again, as expected, gaiia tore through the winners bracket without losing a single map. This story is becoming a bit tired, isn’t it? Danskq thought so too as he came back from the lower bracket and absolutely dominated gaiia in the double best-of-five final. He had promised to defile STINKLIKESOCK the night before but it turned out to be an unrelenting team kill as he put gaiia down 6-0. Diabotical’s Golden Frag mechanic saw Danskq coming back from several frag deficits to take the win in quite possibly the most well deserved fashion ever witnessed at a TimConLAN event.
As this was the first event at our new location, things were a little rough around the edges as expected, but we’ll be returning to the beautiful little town of Alphen aan den Rijn sooner than they expect for our ninth event. With any luck Diabotical will actually be released by then. To find out when that will be you can follow us on Twitter and join our Discord for the latest updates.
Finally I would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who attended. The fantastic staff at the Esports Game Arena for being so helpful, everyone at TheGDStudio for letting us play their game, especially Raven for being on hand for tech support during the event and last but not least TimCon OGs GMT and Kristus, two of my best friends, for making an unexpected cameo appearance.

Warfork is a demanding fast paced first person shooter with a focus on speed, aim, movement, and above all competitive play. There are no gimmicks such as leveling up, purchasable weapons, gory graphic violence, etc.
The game is a fork of Warsow. Warfork replaces Warsow trademarks with our own.
1. Team Deathmatch: Team-vs-team game mode. The goal of a team deathmatch game is to frag as many players of the opposing team as possible until the time or frag limit is reached.
2. Clan Arena: Team game mode where you aim to frag the entire other team before your team is completely eliminated. Clan Arena has no item pickups, you spawn with all weapons.
3. Free for All: The goal of a FFA game is to frag as many other players as possible until the time or frag limit is reached. Unlike in Deathmatch, you spawn with weapons and ammunition.
4. Headhunt: Game mode where one player is tagged and all other players attempt to frag the tagged player. Tagged player gets score for each second he/she stays alive. The person who frags the tagged player, becomes tagged.
5. Duel Arena: Frag the most opponents in 1-on-1 combats. Your arsenal is fully replenished before each round. The winner of the round is challenged by the next player in the queue.
6. Deathmatch: The goal of a Deathmatch game is to frag as many other players as possible until the time or frag limit is reached.
7. Duel: Duel is a 1vs1 game mode. The standard match lasts 10 minutes, if there's a draw there will be added 120 seconds overtime. The player who frags their opponent the most wins the map.
8. Race: Players try to complete a course to achieve the fastest time possible through highly technical maps by means of bunny hopping, strafe jumping, circle jumps, air control, weapon combos, and tricks.
9. Bomb and Defuse: There are two teams that must defend or attack a bombsite. To win a round, a team can win by fragging all of the opposition, defusing the bomb, or ensuring it explodes.
10. Capture the Flag: There are two teams that must defend or capture their opponents flag within the set time limit.
11. Capture the Flag: Tactics Class based version of Capture the Flag, similar to Team Fortress. Each player can be a Grunt, Medic, Runner, or Engineer.

Hello esr reality. I am travelling again in a carriage on rails.
How are you all today. I'll be here for the next four to five hours answering your train related queries and more.
Two weeks from now is TimConLAN 7. We've done seven of these things since 2016, it's been a lot of fun and I've met many quakers from the UK and Europe. I'm very grateful that people are willing to travel to my humble lan party.
Sadly this may be the last event for a while or even the last ever. I hope this isn't the case and we can get back on track in a new venue soon.
We've decided to boycott horizon esports club because the owner is a bit of a dick, that's all I'll say on the matter, the details aren't really important.
We have almost 20 people coming this time for cpma and QL. Sadly it looks like diabotical won't be released in time for us to enjoy it at the lan, maybe next time. :)
I don't have much more to say other than I'm very excited to see all the usual timcon lads and to meet some new people also. Cheers esr and keep arenafps alive. Fuck quake champions.

With TimCon 6 in the books, it’s time to reflect on what a time it was. With record numbers of international attendees, and many veterans of the tournament series, it was a wonderful blend of new and old. Four tournaments over three days saw the coronation of four new champions.
On Friday it was the hectic styling of Challenge ProMode Arena that took to centre stage. A legend of the game, gaiia, took the trophy home, but not without issue. In just the second round of the winner’s bracket, oni made the upset happen in close 2-1 fashion. A fire was clearly lit, as gaiia refused drop a map in the rest of the tournament, taking the scalp of fellow Finn ch1LLmA, his revenge on oni and finalist Kane on his path to victory.
Quake Champions 2v2 made its TimCon debut on Saturday. Many colourfully named teams ended, the one that was all business unsurprisingly took the medals. Newcomers to TimCon, representing TeqR esports, Bagelzend and Taka held their serve, dominant vs. inferior competition, not succumbing to LAN jitters. New to Quake Champions and 2v2, Quake Live top finishing mainstays nerVzzz and Lord Jellington took third, with GMT and xijjik placing a respectable second after a very shaky start.
DOOMBRINGER, made by TimCon attendee Kristus, made another appearance at TimConLAN. While the undisputed #1 StinkLikeSock was unable to make it this time around, there was, as ever in DOOMBRINGER, a lot to play for: Champagne, £100 and pride. CrazyAl finished third, following an upset (cos he got upset) win over eventual second place finisher, the silver surfer, GMT. gaiia, much less experienced in the game, but a true monster on LAN, took the lion’s share of the prize pool, and popped the bottle soon after to celebrate his second TimCon championship.
In Sunday’s Quake Live, the pinnacle of TimCon competitions, everything had changed, and yet so very little. Without Lup1n to ruin the fun, or StinkLikeSock to upset a more studious player, it was gaiia and oleedee‘s turn to play foil. In winner’s round 2, on every fast/small/cpm ported map in the pool, gaiia edged out a 2-1 victory over nerVzzz, the favourite, sending him to the sharks. Soon after, oleedee was as surprised as anyone when he defeated gaiia 2-0, earning his birth into the grand finals. nerVzzz came through n0cturn3 and CropCircles to reach his fated rematch. On Silence, in a Bo1, he did it. For the fourth time in a row nerVzzz made the final. History did not repeat itself. For the first time, he won. The curse had been broken. oleedee took 2nd and Gaiia 3rd. Another weekend well spent.
Credit to orgnaiser CrazyAl, hosts Horizon E-Sport Club and every international player traveling to be with us. Special thanks to GMT for writing these words, to Loni for making our amazing trophies and to everyone who attended TimCon 6. You’re all amazing people.

Another TimCon has been and gone. New champions have claimed their trophies, as tragic figures loom disappointed. Laughs were had, rivalries burned fiercely and cushions were stacked to the ceiling. Martin didn't pull.
TimCon 5's first day featured the inaugural Team Draft event, combing the best of school ground bullying and the full gamut of what Arena FPS has to offer. Spanning Quake Live, DOOMBRINGER, Quake Champions, Warsow and Reflex, in modes as diverse as CTF, duel, and even an FFA, the team draft cup rewarded forward thinking on part of its captains. The four man teams needed to be adaptable to succeed. In this multi-faceted match, Team CrazyAl vanquished Team GMT with aplomb. One sided as it was, the event was a highlight and will surely see refined sequels in future TimCon's.
The new kid on the block, Quake Champions, had a firm favourite in Jylex. On Saturday he took to the field and slaughtered all challengers. In practise and in bracket, through the slip gates, the ruins and eldritch horror infested halls, his opponent's guts decorated the walls. That was until a TimCon Champion reared his majestic head in the grand finals. Lup1n, primarily a Quake Live player, took to the game quickly. In a hotly contested five map series, he added a second TimCon trophy to his cabinet.
DOOMBRINGER, created by TimCon attendee Kristus, made its third TimCon appearance. The tournament was preceded half by well-meaning ribbing, half vicious personal insults. STINKLIKESOCK had his legacy to maintain. CrazyAl had his pride. GMT had to prove he could win on LAN. Kristus turned up. The games were explosive in a way only DOOMBRINGER games are, with twists and turns aplenty. However, in the end, the result was predictable as ever, with STINKLIKESOCK being crowned a TimCon Champion for a sixth time, GMT settled for second and CrazyAl took third.
Quake Live, the most competitive event, starred the usual suspects. Lup1n had a title to defend, and nerVzzz had a monkey, his finals curse, to get off his back. Lord Jellington, with his rocket jumps, sweet dressing gown and panache played the foil, the only player present capable of causing an upset. The finals came with a side order of Deja vu. Third time was not the charm for nerVzzz, though he can be proud of the three silvers he's claimed. Lup1n, less dominantly than the mirror final of TimCon 4, pulled through, adding a third trophy to his collection. Sadly, success doesn't mean he can sleep easy.
A fun weekend was had by all. Sincere thanks go to CrazyAl and Horizon E-Sport Club for organising, Gilanguar for the stream production, id Software for in and out of game loot, and all attendants.

While the new 0.19 version is bringing a fair bit of polish, with previously missing features such as follow killer and powerup for spectators and callvote kick for the odd time someone needs to be shown the door. The main new features to look out for is how the game changed how to deal with first spawn and respawning players in general as well as a few new powerups, to give a bit of color to deathmatch in general.
Spawning and Respawn:
As the game counts down, players will be spawned at their locations, while still able to look around they won't be able to move until the match starts properly. Letting them plan ahead for their game. Make a plan for where they will go first. And in some cases also spot where the opposing player(s) have spawned.
When fragged, the player will be moved to their next spawn point as they are made able to respawn and there they will get a spy cam on where they will spawn and what is happening at that location. At this moment you have 3 seconds to chose when to spawn before the game does it for you.
Powerups:
The game now has a few more powerups that you may not commonly see in AFPS games like these.
Chaos Sphere, Berserker Sphere and Leach Sphere. A fair disclaimer though. These are quite potent powerups, and potentially (probably) they could be a bit overpowered. But for the time being, they are what they are. Since testing them should be fun regardless.
Chaos Sphere:
This powerup makes your weapons fire 3x as many shots spread in an 45degree arc from your POV.
Berserker Sphere:
This powerup makes you only have fists. But with the added bonus of them having an AOE exploding attack on contact. You also have the benefit of a battlesuit to make you survive a bit longer. Because explosions hurt.
Leach Sphere:
This powerup makes you recieve 100% of all you deal to an enemy damage back to you. It's quite potent, you can overcharge your health way past your ordinary max.
Changelog:
Batch files: Added command line options to batch files for sdl version.
Batch files: Improved batch files slightly.
Batch files: Added Linux dedicated server shell script file.
Game: Added follow killer to spectators.
Game: Added follow powerup to spectators.
Game: TDM, fixed issue with teamscores being sent wrong to the clients when they were outside the range of a bit.
Game: Fixed bug where after a duel was played, the game tried to send player data to the worldspawn, resulting in error messages and the world bleeding from rockets.
Game: Fixed issue where you could not pick up armors in single player.
Game: Fixed issue where you could not pick up armors in Quake 1 maps.
Game: Callvote kick added.
Game: Callvote pause added. (for testing)
Game: Removed a lot of WriteString functions and replaced them with WriteByte functions instead to make them less stressful for network traffic.
Game: Made players able to see and look around where they will spawn during countdown phase, letting them have a chance to plan ahead.
Game: Made players who are able to respawn able to see the POV of where they will spawn. Giving them a chance to plan their moment to respawn based on what they see.
Game: Made Berserker powerup more useful by having it be an exploding attack rather than the previous quadded fists.
Game: Added leach powerup - 100% vampiric damage, no upper limit on how much health you can leach. (probably overpowered, but fun)
Game: Added spread fire powerup - Fire 3 shots instead of 1 in a cone of 45 degrees from the player weapon.
Game: Completely removed residue of invisibility powerup.
Game: Made FFA wins also add to the player's win score. eventually to show up in the scoreboard too.
Client: Made player model show up in mirrors.
Client: Added player avatars (duel only so far).
Client: Added player country flags (duel only so far).
Client: Added a preamble for duel countdown, presenting the players of the match with their avatars.
Client: Made demos savenames be less abstract and easier to find specific demos.
Physics: Made small adjustments to movement setup. Removed engine based client prediction that was causing issues when it was on.
GFX: Added another font for the HUD statusbar.
Effects: Added particle effects for the different powerups.
Models: Added placeholder ammo satchel.
Models: Powerup model skins.
Textures: Texture for new powerups.
Music: Added menu music by Primeval as a test.
HUD: Added adjustable alpha option to HUD.
HUD: Added adjustable color option to HUD.
HUD: Added and more pronounced effects around ammo bar.
HUD: Added option to move score summary around.
HUD: Added number alignment to HUD, now you can set a digit element to align left or right.
HUD: Added timelimit information on the HUD (below the timer).
HUD: Added optional HUD prefabs.
HUD: Added avatar and country flags to Duel scoreboard.
HUD: Adjusted TDM scoreboard to let the entire team names show.
HUD: Added avatar and score details to specHUD.
HUD: Added packet/net loss indicator to specHUD.
Menu: Added multiplayer menu sort keys to server browser. Sorts in the wrong direction atm it seem.

TimCon 4 has been and gone. Once again, around twenty of Arena FPS' worst and dimmest met in the storied English city of Liverpool, at the ever ostentatious Horizon E-Sport Club. TimCon’s third edition was such a success, we agreed little should be changed. The atmosphere remained. The thrills and spills came in similar quantity, the heartbreak and glory unchanged. There was however one major addition: DOOMBRINGER.
Over three days, four duel tournaments were played. First to return was Warsow. It would bring all attendees great pleasure to say the story had changed, but alas STINKLIKESOCK did indeed dominate. If anything it was more one-sided this go around, as he cruised to his third TimCon gold without dropping a single map.
The new and controversially seeded kid on the block, DOOMBRINGER, shared a similar fate. New to most, the veterans of the game stood tall. CrazyAl would fall in the finals to Mr. TimCon himself, STINKLIKESOCK. The game’s creator, Kristus, took fourth.
Waves were made in Reflex. Widget making legend, Qualx, dropped in groups despite being the only man to take a map from the eventual champion. As was expected with the aforementioned upset, STINKLIKESOCK and xijjiik met in the finals. While the games were hard fought and nail-bitingly close, it was a 3-0 that crowned STINKLIKESOCK for a fifth time.
Quake Live, the most competitive tournament of the weekend, was the only obstacle left. It was nineteen vs one. nerVzzz, Lord Jellington and Lup1n had to defend the room’s honour from the monster it had spawned. Defend it, they did. STINKLIKESOCK settled for an unprecedented third place, his worst placement in any TimCon tournament. nerVzzz, familiar to the grand finals, sadly became a little more familiar with second place as Lup1n took the final decisively.
Lup1n took home his first place prize
...and didn’t make too much of a tit of himself popping the champagne.
The four tournaments had concluded, but the stench of bad blood lingered. At TimCon 3, the grudge match to end all grudge matches had us on the edge of our seats. At TimCon 4 scores had to be settled. JamboSlice, reigning Horizon staff champ met his old rival, Stephen, also known as a soon to be validated Messiah Complex. Having practised to the point of serious arthritis, Ste slaughtered his opponent without remorse to end TimCon 4. JamboSlice hasn’t been seen since.
Big thanks to Jamie, Ste and the rest of Horizon staff for putting up with our Quake player needs, to Gilanguar for providing a much improved stream and to our international friends ollir and Kristus for traveling so far to be with us.
Photos by ollir and Gilanguar, video by Kristus, words by GMT. Info regarding TimConLAN 5 can be found in our discord channel, official announcements soon™

Scheduled: 01:00 CDT, 15 September 2017 to 13:00 CDT, 17 September 2017 Schedule: Passed
On the 15th-17th September, TimCon will returrn. Once again, at Liverpool's Horizon E-Sport Club, with four tournaments across the weekend.
We start on Friday with Warsow and Doombringer, follow it up on Saturday with Reflex, and fittingly end with Quake Live on Sunday.
DOOMBRINGER comes ripping and tearing from the still steamy loins of DOOM 2 Legend Kristus. More faithful to DOOM than Quake-likes since, it boasts some of the most damaging weapons in the genre, bombastic gameplay and perhaps the worst announcer to grace AFPS. This will be its first appearance on LAN.
TimCon is an ArenaFPS LAN in 2017 featuring four classic Duel games.
It's roughly twenty ArenaFPS players in the ornate Horizon E-Sport club for three days, fighting it out for some of the most questionably meangingul championships in esport history.
Here's a brief taste of TimCon 3, courtesy of Demsix, as well as his day three timelapse.
In Liverpool city centre, surrounded by restaurants, corner shops and supermarkets. While the venue prohibits alcohol on the premises, there is no short supply of pubs, clubs and off licenses within hobbling distance.
I would also advise those of us who aren't too hungover in the mornings to go out and experience the vast culture that can be found in Liverpool, a truly wonderful city.
We have 20 PCs available for rental each day (12PM-12PM). The cost is £35 per person, making for a total of £105 should you attend for the duration. You cannot bring your own PC. Length of stay is optional, though if it’s less than a day you’ll have to pay the hourly rate of £6 or buy one of their package deals, £15 for 3 hours and a drink or £20 for 5 hours and a drink. If you’re in the area and want to hang out, entrance to the viewing area is free.
Anyone who would like to donate to TimConLAN prize pools can do so by sending donations via PayPal to crazyal90@gmail.com Please specify your name and how you would like us to use your donation. Thank you.

From the 15th to the 17th of September, ArenaFPS TimConLAN returns for its fourth installment.
Liverpool’s Horizon E-Sport Club will once again provide an ornate background to TimCon’s action, in all of its ostentatious glory, saving us from a fate worse than death; organising a BYOC event.
TimCon is what happens when you take a simpleton, run an AFPS LAN in his house, and then decide it would be better if there were more than five insufferable cunts in attendance. It’s three days of twenty brave keyboard warriors, from all over the UK (and some from Europe), figuratively locked in a room, playing mostly duels, with all of the heartbreak, trash talk and awkward social interactions that usually entails.
The previous event has near enough unanimously been considered a success, so the formula remains much the same. Warsow, Reflex and Quake Live duel tournaments all make a reappearance.
Here’s a brief taste of TimCon 3, courtesy of Demsix. As well as his day three timelapse.
Last time, the stream left a lot to be desired, TimCon 4’s online segment will see a considerable upgrade. Technical goblins will be on site all hours of the day to bring you a seamless remote TimCon experience on Twitch.tv/ArenaFPS, running for the full 12 hours of each day (12-24 GMT).
While you’re welcome to bring peripherals of your own, those too are on offer for no added cost (Logitech G502 mice, G810 keyboards and G640 headsets). Players can also feel free to bring any HUD/config files they may need.
Reflex, Quake Live and Warsow duel tournaments will be ran officially and streamed. The PCs already have Steam, Origin, Battlenet and all that good stuff installed so feel free to download and play any games you own on these platforms, Horizon also have some games available to play for free.

Following on from the humble events TimConLan 1 and TimConLan 2 which featured a grand total of 5 players each, TimCon 3: A LAN, hosted by Horizon E-Sports Café in Liverpool, drew to a close last weekend. 20+ people attended from around the UK and Europe (Big shoutouts to aesick and Mek for driving 1790 miles to be there).
Day 1 was Warsow, a game not too familiar with a lot of the attendees, but a favorite for a few. Lots of QL players joined in to play too and unsurprisingly, STINKLIKESOCK, an old Warsow player, took home the gold after handily beating xijjik in the grand final.
Day 2 was Reflex day, a game much more familiar to a lot of people there. tfC was the favorite in this one. A young player who started his Arena FPS career with Reflex and who had barely touched Warsow or QL. Again the QL players got themselves set up in Reflex, took their time learning the movement, the maps and the jumps while the Reflex familiars got to playing right away.
Amazingly NerVzzz, a QL player, managed to pick up the game on the day and get himself to the semis. The grand final was between STINKLIKESOCK once more and tfC, the favorite to win. tfC did indeed win with a convincing 3-1 but STINK didn't make it easy for him.
Finally Day 3 was QuakeLive. The game the majority of the players had the most familiarity with. The TimConLan 1 and 2 players were put to shame, all going out in the group stages. To nobodys shock, both STINK and NerVzzz went right through the groups without dropping a game and indeed didn't drop one until they met each other in the finals.
At this point it was tense. We all gathered in the downstairs lounge area to watch it on the big screen and left the players on the top floor to play their game in peace. STINK was wandering around pre-game, agitated to begin. NerVzzz was employing his pre-game warm up techniques which baffled the rest of us as well as Horizon's staff.
Once NerVzzz had finished hanging from a door frame by his fingertips in what I can only assume was a trance, he went upstairs... to do his last 10 minutes of prep. Finally it was time, and it seemed NerVzzz game delaying mind games had not gotten to STINKLIKESOCK.
Ironically, NerVzzz seemed... nervous. He didn't show the same calm control and influence over his opponents as he did in the previous games. Stink was unfazed by anything and no matter how many times he slammed his desk in frustration, it never seemed to affect his play.
STINK won the finals 3-0. The players shook hands and were awarded their Golden and Silver WMO trophies respectively (that NerVzzz had made himself for the event).
The final evening was closed out with some 15 man FFA games. The Horizon staff played a 1v1 show match on Aerowalk, the loser having to buy a goody-bag of food for the QL champion (shoutout to Jamie for his perfectly executed rocket jumps to RA. Commiserations to Steve who now hates Quake and everything it stands for after his crushing defeat).
Shoutouts:
To Jamie, Steve and the rest of Horizon staff for putting up with our Quake player needs, bringing us food and drink, and most importantly, buying a billion cushions for us from Ikea so we could sit at exactly our desired heights at the desks
To aesick and Mek for their grand journey across the lands to be with us
And to STINKLIKESOCK for somehow being in every grand final, and winning 2 of them, despite appearing to be the most tilted player of us all.
1. Best of Losers - sansiq
2. Farthest Distance traveled - aesick and mek
3. Biggest Come Back - GMT
4. Biggest Let Down - xijiik
5. Best Dancer - 7ep3s
6. Most Hungover - crazyal
7. Wooden Spoon Award - Horizon Steve
8. Biggest LAN Dodger - KoalaPunch
Thanks to Tim for writing these kind and special words. You look great. - CrazyAl

Hello! After a much needed break from Reflex, I have decided to give it a go again and luckily, Jaguar has motivated me to create another race movie.
The runs that are showcased within the short movie were made over the past two weeks which made me realise that I want to produce a sequel to the first movie. I wasn’t quite sure whether I had enough time to make it but quite frankly, I wanted to extend my portfolio so I just sat down, thought of a few ideas, and ended up creating this piece. I also took into consideration the criticism that Simplicity has received here on ESR and worked on improving my overall edit which has allowed me to make the movie more cinematic and combine it with more appropriate soundtrack which also goes with the overall flow of the entire video.

From the 14th to the 16th of April, we will play host to the third LAN in the venerable TimCon series.
The event will take place in the recently opened Horizon E-Sports club in Liverpool. The venue features high-end PCs fully equipped with 144Hz monitors and a swish café/viewing area. Staff are available at the click of a mouse to bring your food and drink orders directly to your seat.
This list is for people who wish to reserve a pc, if you aren't on this list I can't guarantee you'll be able to rent a pc for the day. Hourly rates are available. Ask me directly on Discord if you want to reserve a pc.

Reflex, Quake Live and Warsow duel tournaments will be ran officially and streamed (formats, prize pools and map pools TBD), with any tournaments organised by attendees being allowed/aided as long as they don’t interfere with main events. The PCs already have Steam, Origin, Battlenet and all that good stuff installed so feel free to download and play any games you own on these platforms, Horizon also have some games available to play for free. Games that aren't on these platforms (like QuakeWorld for example) are perfectly okay to download and install.
Being in the heart of one of the largest cities in the UK, accommodation options are plentiful.
While we have recommendations, we suggest you do your due diligence in hunting down accommodation to your taste. There are hostels and the like available with group rooms. These can end up being really cheap if you can find some others to chip in with, ask around on Discord.

The LAN is over. I came 1st in DOOMBRINGER, 2nd in Warsow and Quake live. The real champion of this lan is the host, Neeple.
Other than that we got very drunk on white Russians, cocktails and champagne. Shout out to Gilanguar for downing 5 shots of vodka in one go while sitting in a slav squat. Shout out to Neeple for cleaning up the fucking mess he made afterwards. Shout out to Kristus for coming all the way from Sweden to play with us. Shout out to Qualx for Qualxing.
When I get home I'll upload a bunch of random pics of the madlads. Right now I wanna say that in future we want to have a bigger LAN open to the public with any and all afps games people want to play. We'll have tournaments, casual game modes and general shenanigans. I'm very confident that there are enough afps players in the UK to make such an event viable. So if you're interested in that kinda thing, please let us know.
Make arenafps great again.

The Reflex League is a platform for competitive league play in Reflex Arena. Players will have persistent profiles along with match history, trophy history, and stats.
This initial season will definitely run in EU and NA. If there are sufficient numbers, it'll run in AU too. If you want an additional region and your region has enough players to fill at least one division, get in touch and we might be able to work something out.
For each season, players will be separated by region and then grouped into divisions based on their skill level, so there's no minimum skill requirement to enter. Each division will have up to 8 players who will each be matched against every other player twice over the course of the season.
Every week, players will be expected to schedule matches against two opponents. The scheduling process is partially automated; players can list periods of time when they're available and the scheduler will then generate a mutually convenient match time if possible.
Matches will be Bo3. The map pool for each match will consist of 5 maps drawn (by the matchmaker) from the total pool of 7. Picking order (W denotes cointoss winner, L denotes cointoss loser): L ban, W ban, W pick, L pick, decider. Players will receive 1 point for each map they win, plus an additional point to the winner if the third map isn't played (so winning 2-0 awards you 3 points).
Signups close at 00:00 UTC on 27th October 2016
Divisions will be allocated over the next few days. You may be asked to provide some sort of input here! Keep screenshots of results from games played against other entrants because that'll be helpful for us to figure out where to place you. In the absence of screenshots, you might be asked to play a couple of placement matches.
The matchmaker will run on 5th November, creating the fixtures for the whole season.
The first week of the main part of the season will start on 12th November, in order to give players time to schedule their first games (and to give some leeway in case of delays).
Each player will meet each other player in their division twice, for a total of two BO3 matches per opponent. Each match will have a fixed map pool, and players will each choose a map from this pool, with the third being used as a decider. Cointoss winner will select who picks first in the first match. Whoever picks first in the first match will pick second in the second match.
For the first half of the season, every round (there are two simultaneous rounds per week) the map pool will be randomly or semi-randomly selected with one group 1 map and one group 2 map, and the third map being randomly chosen from all remaining maps.
For the second half of the season, rounds will use the complement of the map pool from the first half - that means that any maps that weren't in the pool for a pairing's first match will be in the pool for the second match.
Maps can be substituted with visual variants (eg The Blue Catalyst can be used in place of The Catalyst) or performance versions. Performance versions and visual variants must be identical in geometry and items, and they must all be official (ie, created or endorsed by the map's author). In the event of a disagreement regarding versions, the performance version will be used if either player requested it, and otherwise the primary visuals will be used unless otherwise instructed by a league official.
Players will be allowed to choose from Experimental or Competitive rulesets. If players cannot agree on which ruleset to play with they must default to Experimental.

Quake Champions project lead Tim Willits has downplayed the overall significance of the Champions--calling them "an additive thing" during a recent interview with GameSpot--but many fans have expressed concern over this new feature nonetheless, labeling Quake Champions a "hero shooter" in the same vein as games like Overwatch.
When asked if the studio would consider including an option that would allow players to turn off Champions' unique abilities and compete using mechanically identical characters a la classic Quake, Willits responded: "Yeah, in custom game mode."

ArenaFPS hosts their third 1v1 King of the Hill event for Reflex on 11:00 CST, 17 January 2016. Sign-ups will open one hour prior to start and will remain open until 19:00 UTC. This will primarily be a European cup, though players from all regions are more than welcome to play.

All games will be played on the same server. The server ip & password will be distributed in the Discord server on the day of the cup.
When it is your turn you play you will be highlighted in discord if you aren't already on the server. Failure to respond will result in being skipped and moved to the end of the queue.
The first two players will do a coin toss with an admin, winner picks first map. Each map thereafter will be picked by the current challenger.
Players may pick a map from the pool or, if both players agree, any 1v1 map can be played.

All games must be played on servers with the following settings enabled:
