Can't change the polling rate on my WMO (7 comments)
Posted by promyy @ 09:51 CDT, 29 March 2014 - iMsg
Hey guys.

I've been trying to switch from IMO to WMO today, but whenever I try to switch the polling rate on the WMO it just stops working.

Whenever I change the refresh rate and restart my PC, the WMO is dead and will no longer work in the same USB port. When I plug it into a different USB port it works just fine. The USB docks are 100% okay. They do not die after restarting the PC, the IMO still works fine in the very same USB ports.

Now, the WMO just won't work in any of the 3 ports I've tried, and I have no idea what to do, how to make my WMO work in those again or how to change the polling rate correctly. Note that I've been using the WMO before on 1000hz and it was fine, the problem started just today after I've plugged it back in.

Is there any way to get the WMO to work in the ports that I've been trying to change the refresh rate in? Or if not, how do I set it so it would work correctly in a different port?

edit: adding to the story:

After plugging and unplugging it a few times I've noticed that while plugged in, the WMO is listed on the USB devices list as a ghost with no name and just the "filter on device" set to 'yes'. Whenever I uncheck 'filter on device' the WMO is back to life on 125hz but still there's no way to set it to 1000hz. How to I get around that?

Combo opinions? (21 comments)
Posted by promyy @ 15:25 CST, 9 January 2014 - iMsg
Hey there.

As a Shootmania player myself - and an actual Combo player, unlike most SM players who chose Elite - I was wondering: since ESR apparently hates Elite for it's simplicity and boring gameplay with no tactical depth, what would ESR think about Combo?

Has anyone played it here? It's a quake-ish 2on2 mode introducing the pickup system. It's quake-ish, and not quake-like since several mechanics work significantly differently, but it still somehow resembles the quake playstyle. You can see how it works right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx9x3gjxcA8

It would be interesting to know if any quake players actually played it and what do they think about it. I do not consider myself a quake player (despite playing q3 for 500 hours :P) but I play Combo competitively since some time and I find it fun. Definitely something unique and different from dull gameplay that Elite provides.

My friend has actually started working on a Combo 1on1 mode that would be imitating Quake duel kind of gameplay on the Shootmania movement/pickup system so any feedback would be cool :)

cheers.

A mouse closest to Abyssus? (16 comments)
Posted by promyy @ 10:50 CST, 22 November 2013 - iMsg
Hey guys,

I made a topic about my problem with Abyssus not so long ago (http://www.esreality.com/post/2506774/some-a-...out-accel/). Apparently, it's dying way faster than I thought it would. After the jittering problem that I solved by switching to 1800dpi cam a new problem, this time probably unsolvable, with the RMB not reacting in 1 to 5 clicks. With all that I decided to buy myself a new mouse.

So there comes the question: what mouse with no acceleration would be the closest to the Abyssus? I use fingertip grip, my hand is not very big.

I've recently looked through a lot of mices and finding something similar to abyssus would be hard. Even if there is a mouse that matches the shape, it most usually has some kind of sensor flaws (Xai? G500, Kone+) or the shape is a bit different (DeathAdder, G400, Sensei).

Apparently, seems that either WMO or IME might be good. But I'm too afraid of fake pieces all around the web which, from what I heard, are a really big problem when buying this mouse.

Does anyone know a mouse that would be similar to Abyssus? Or does anyone know where to get cheap WMO/IME that is definitely 100% original? Or buying a new Abyssus would be a good point in the end?

Thanks in advance :)

Some (a lot of) quesions about accel (24 comments)
Posted by promyy @ 07:42 CST, 11 November 2013 - iMsg
Hello there guys.

Came to this website because this is the one single place where I would look for help with mice settings, accel and sensitivity. I hope that finally somebody will answer my thrilling questions ;)

On the beginning I'd like to note that I use Razer Abyssus and Steelseries Qck+. They seem to be a great combination overall. But with my Qck+ mentioned comes the problem: since 2 or 3 days, ever since I washed it, it's screwed.

My mouse reacts violently with the mousepad now, twitching my cursor all around. It looks like I'm shaking my hand a lot while moving my mouse, but I'm not, It's just the way the sensor reacts with the mouspad.

I used Qck and Qck+ before, so I know the problem and it's really something that you can't help, while washing and then drying improperly dust and dirt get kind of 'inside' the mousepad which then causes the sensor to get confused. Pretty sad, but it's my fault.

But hey, it's not that bad after all. So I decided to live with it and just do something about my mouse so that it won't hurt my eyes so much. Changing the dpi from 450 to 1800 seemed to be a good way to start the fixing.

Fixing went pretty good in the end. Turned out than increasing the dpi to 1800 is exactly what the mouse needed and after that no twitching occurred. But. Now comes the problem. I don't really know what to do with my sens and accel after switching dpi.

You see, before that I always used to play on 450dpi, 125hz, exactly 1.82 sens in game, 6/11 windows sens and MarkC's accel fix. Now that my dpi changed, I needed to do a lot of stuff to keep it that way. First up was my sens in Windows.

After fooling around I've noticed that 3/11 Windows sens is a good way to go, it's exactly what I had and it felt good. But now that my windows sens changed, the accel fix needs to be changed as well. So I did, but... the accel is still there. And it's REALLY noticeable. When playing with 1800dpi, markc's accel fix for 3/11 and 100% dpi and same sens I had, it seems at first everything is ok, but I get a lot of accel. Which is what I hate the most.

Now, I have several ways to go with that. I either switch back to what I used to have (450dpi, old accel fix, 6/11) and just get used to twitching (or play without my mousepad, which also works... but it's not comfortable) or do anything about the 1800dpi 3/11 setting which would get rid of the accel... which I can't seem to be able to do.

To be honest, the way my mouse works right now is pretty satisfying. I'm playing on my usual sens of ~50.7cm/360 for several years now and never had a single problem with that. But the way my crosshair twitches in game is just way too annoying and distracting and I can't land any shots with that. Going with 1800dpi would be cool, but how do I do that without acceleration then?!

Thanks for any answers in advance,
promyy
