This is something our community (South Africa) has been talking about for a while now and i'm sure so have all the other communities.
It's something we've talked about from a fair amount of different angles (q3 players / ut players etc). We've talked about a few things that would help build on the (almost perfect in a lot of people's opinion) Q3 multiplayer, and here are a few of the things we thought would be good ideas. Obviously i'm not gonna include the fact that great movement & netcode are huge priorities.
A ut player pointed out to us that in UT the first armour spawns are delayed, the first armour spawns are at 14:33 (ut timer counts down) and this idea has it's merits.
This is a very touchy subject with lots of people, because naturally we're all biased. Rail wh0res want it like it is and the other half want it out all together. Something I read here a few days ago is that they could make the rail gun half dmg but double the speed.
Also other things like - toning down the mg. Although I think a usable spawn weapon is very important.
imo 'beauty in simplicity' is what makes the q3 mp (osp) so great. (I know cpma people are loving the irony there, take it easy). The weapons are all usefull and there is no bloating. Other things that make it great are: The engine customizability and flexibility. etc.
