For the past few months my colleagues and I have been working on a website calls HowOldAmI. Basically a fun site that you can take part in whilst you are on your coffee break or simply bored. The idea behind the site is the guess peoples ages.

We currently have over 1000 pictures on the site with over 3000 members. Registered members can upload their own images (not google ones!) and take part in our monthly competitions. We have already given a digital camera away and loads of T-Shirts. This month we are giving away a Video iPOD.

Played the CPL duel maps today…I haven't really been duelling just concentrating on TDM for the moment. However being a dueller in Quake 3 I have realise what rubbish maps there are in q4.

pro-blip being one is the stupidest maps i have ever played. Loads of pillars and very mazy; Original Blip was so much better however the new one is just crap and plays awful. Before Jabbor comes on this journal and posts about play testing it for 20 hours. Forget it, its just a crap map!

Phrantic is quite a good map however I can see the CPM roots so its not my cup of tea. HF to Swelt though! It’s a very well thought out map. Lost Fleet is quite good but I can't help but think q4 needs larger maps...all the maps are really small and the new maps being made is going CPM which is worrying from my point of view.

I really hope the ZTN guys come up with some good maps because q4 really needs it in the duelling scene.

Apart from that I am really enjoying q4 tdm. I think the tmp maps for it are quite good :)

Quake 4 has been out for a month and a bit and what a BuzZ the scene has.

Mods are being developed and everyone is playing! 1v1 leagues, tdm..ctf...list goes on. PK never had this buzz, d3 didnt and I don't think UT had this buzz for long. I can see Quake 4 evolving same way Quake 3 did and getting really competitive.

It has drawn so many players from different scenes. Loads of UT players have come across and a lot of CS in the ffa servers etc..Why am I writing this in my journal? Well I just remember the old days with all the old faces that have come back to play Quake 4, its a good feeling to play with old friends.

Anyway back to work....

Finally got it installed and working last night. What a game tbh, I only bashed around for 15 minutes with little or no tweaking through the menu system. I could easily tell all the qualities of quake games coming together.

I am glad its not exactly like quake 3 otherwise might as well not have a new game. I am also glad that my system can run it quite comfortably though I will upgrade to another 1gb or 512mb of ram more to help smooth things out.

Problem i do have with it is the rebirth of the classic q2map. Don't get me wrong it is an amazing map and plays very well however q2'ers will own everyone on this map strat wise. Only hope i have is too out aim them or learn the map as well as they do which will take years.

Hopefully my current clan Remix will go to quake 4 transition quickly and get fragging. Unlike my early days of quake 3 trying to climb ladder of clans to reach a competitive level. I will stick with rmx try get them up there. Also it has a great bunch of lads and me best mate is in clan so can't really leave it.

Good thing is girlfriend is up north studying so more time to play q4, yay! Also modding my car will be a fun hobby.
Bad things, lots of work (I'm an IT Consultant) that stressing me out. MCSE exams to revise for and No Sex for long periods of time.

Guess who just got Tickets to watch the Press Release screening on May 8th! I AM SO EXCITED, thats two/three weeks before the premiere!

Thought I'd update this journal after quite a while. Haven't really been playing much as gaming scenes are rather scattered at the moment. Q3 scene isnt what it used to be and I been searching fo a new game but it seems there is nothing worth taking up.

Rome Total War is brilliant though so been burning my time with that :) Bring on Q4 I say!

Decided to give Quake 3 a rest since I been playing it for ages. Its sad really because I quit Quake 3 thinking Doom 3 will be released soon and its next year march. Oh well gonna have to play Half Life 2 instead!
