Anyone been following the asia games on the tv?

Just watched the Gold Medal game of the Soccer final. The match was between Qatar & Iraq.

I saw the most HILLARIOUS thing in soccer in that game. In the 2nd half Qatar gets to take a corner kick.. anyway the guy takes the corner kick and the iraq defenders are milling around the middle of the goal post.. one of the qatar attackers follows the line of the ball from the corner kick and runs past it. It hits him in the back of the head and he turns around to one of the Iraq defenders like "WTF..." thinking one of them must of elbowed him and then realised it was the ball. Total BLANK expression when it goes in to the net for the only goal of the final. HAHAHA

Bleach and Naruto - OMG! :)))) Bear in mind ive only just started watching and have managed to watch upto what is current for both of these manga's.

Can anyone recommend some other good anime to watch that MAYBE is as good as the 2 ive just mentioned.

A friend of mind recommended Samurai Champloo just did not find it interesting at all, maybe more so that its missing the magical aspect of it. (read: sharigan, demon fox, bankai's etc.) And another one that i have heard of but is all about robots forget the name :P

Just wanted to ask with the upcoming GGL/Clanbase LAN Finals in NYC approaching for TDM.

Can teams get by on perfect teamplay within the 4 players of the one team. Over teams with one or two great individual players, with equally skilled teammates? When i think of team sports i think of the one/two punch that the Chicago Bulls had with Pippen/Jordan, they played some great teams who did have some good individual players but had great teamwork.

But just couldnt overcome the one/two punch that the Bulls had.

When i think of eSports especially with Q3/Q4 TDM, i think of the ice climbers with tox/fox and the old p1mps team when they had proZaC and fox, but then on the other side of that.. there have been a few great teams that have just played soo well together those would be imo off the top of my head - unmatched and Vikings.

Hehe just saw on Clanbase that aCtion beat GUNK, so that has made things interesting.

Havent seen any TDM demos for Q4, really wanted to see some demos of the 2 american teams that will be representing the US -vs- Euro for the Lan Finals in NYC :)

What are your thoughts :P

p.s. doesnt have to be all quake-related can be for UT and CS.. with teams not having great individual players but having great teamwork.

Of the demos that are out there (very few) in his POV, i cant really get a very good feel on how he attacks. Im so used to watching the french with all their rj's coming in and out of the enemy base.

Like i have a demo in his POV playing for gunzoids -vs- GoS on q3w3, and not one time did i think they were gonna break the tough tdm defense (irb,link,d3sp) of GoS but somehow he managed to :/

Also when he got that cap, gzd.deus started spamming the server with "mike from 1999" was he good back in the day?

Ive recently asked a player that played for S? what he thought of mike and he said that he is an awesome flag runner, and that back in the day.. he was like how thefou is now. But that there was a period when he stopped play q3, and when he came back he was still good.. just not as good as his previous form. He also said that before the cb nationscups especially in barrysworld nationscup.. that Switzerland just dominated allcomers.. mainly due to mike.

So what is everyone doing at the moment, with regards to work or if your studying.. what are you studying?

Ive been at my work for 3 years D: And just not me anymore, so im looking at getting a diploma/degree so i can get a better job with a better pay :)

If you are working, did you have a degree/diploma to get a job where you are currently working.. or did you sorta just fall into your current job. Ive been told numerous times by friends and other ppl that 'Its not WHAT YOU KNOW, BUT WHO YOU KNOW' have to agree to some extent with that as that is how most of previous jobs have been.

To do with nicknames.

Ok, well i have found a nickname to use, but what is your guys opinion of using a nickname that is already in use? By someone in a totally different country or in a different game, like say you play quake and the name you use is used in another game by a top tier player.

Just thinking about it, it'll be good to get some info/thoughts on what you guys WOULDNT do with regards to nicknames. Like i wouldnt be so brash as to take a nick like LakermaN or Polosatiy.. or even a famous player from another type of game, like Lauke from UT or InZomnia from WC3.

Anyway the name ive come up with is sh0ck i know know one in NZ that uses it, hardly anyone anywhere that uses it in Quake. Wouldnt really know for UT/WC3 as i dont follow the scenes at all. Although there was an old player that used to play in 'inevitable Demise' but i dont think he had the 0 in his nick.

Prolly gonna have to hit sujoy up about changing my nick for ESR :) Reason i chose it is coz i can get the nick with my isp email and its kinda easy to remember for people. I just tell them its shock at such and such.nz And then tell them to replace the 'o' with a '0' :)

Like the other day i was playing CS *shakes* :) And there was a player on the Server called Spawn, and i asked the dude is that like an alias and hes like "wtf!! i use the nick in CS tournaments" Now correct me if im wrong but isnt SpawN like one of the Top 10 CS players in the World?

Nicknames - How did you go about getting yourself a nickname for online games?

Im just curious as hell, how ppl go about getting their nickname, whether is be cs, q3, wc3 etc.

Im actually looking for another nickname, as ive had the same nickname since all the way back in q2 :/ Time for a change, and q4 is coming out soon.. so all the better :)

Another thing, do you get peeved off when someone pronounces your nickname wrong? Seen it on numerous occasion's like for example: zyz in a pk movie i saw a while ago.. neok was saying that zyz's name started off being said ziz.. sorta like sis but with zzz's :P

Started quake 3 in that resurrection tournament with swishahouse, played for a couple weeks then joined cK, not sure
how long that was. Basically what Im getting at is that I joined the best clan in history after playing a game for 3 weeks
making me the best ever.

Ok well cK held OPEN tryouts (not joking). and i idled in the channel they had a tryout channel with hundreds of idiots,
it only lasted like 3 days until people realized it was dumb, but during that time i played with them and i got a tryout
with like 10 cK guys watching, it was me and mojo -vs- czm and fatality, and they were like 'if you win you can join,
if you lose you are out' and we won, the rest is history.


WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR NAME TO CK-WALRUS?
Man when i joiend ck they were all righteous they were like: 'you cant have the name paulwall
in this clan because we are the best ever .' but after like a week i just changed my name back to paulwall.


WHAT's YOUR OPINION ON CESS/FFA VS TACTICAL/STRATEGY STYLES OF TDM
I think that the more 'styles of play' you have in a game means that the
game is more diverse and interesting and has more elements to it so I think they are both fun. If I had to pick one
I prefer playing in I would say tactical/strategy but cess/ffa is more fun to watch for a typical person
I'd say..


CTF? DO YOU LIKE IT? AND HAVE YOU PLAYED IT?
Never really played it in any game (unless you include teamfortress).
It's about as much fun as aids.


CK -VS- 519 RIVALRY, WAS IT AS BIG, OR BIGGER THAN THE CK -VS- STX RIVALRY?
Umm, im not the best to talk about this because i wasnt really around then(stickmen
-vs- cK era) but i would say the 519 one was bigger.


GIVE US SOME INSIGHT ON THE RIVALRY, WITH REGARD TO TRASH TALK ETC.
Well 519 always beat cK during the season, but then cK would always beat 519 in the playoffs and make up for it with a
higher placing in the tourney. 519's prime, came and left quickly. Their players are more of the FFA/CESS go nuts and if
they carry the momentum of killing the end up winning by alot. While on the other hand we(cK)would play a more strategic
role in the way we played TDM. Its pretty basic but if you play with each other and have players who blend, people tend to
be in the same spot. There honestly wasnt really roles when i played, it wasnt like 'ill cover rail'. it was like
'we have to control RA/RL' if no one was at rail, someone would go there, it wasnt designated. With the main ck guys
czm/ouija/spook etc, they played a LOT together so the 'positions' kind of chose themselves , if that makes sense. Like
ouija would always be at RL on dm6, but he wasnt assigned there just turned out that way because people play with him and they
know thats where he likes to go.


WHAT DID YOU THINK OF 519'S LAN ARENA 7 PERFORMANCE?
Dont think it was that fair because at that time quake 3 was at like a peak in europe and quake 3
wasnt even that popular here, it was on a decline by then.i think that 519's individual players
are just as good just lacked practice. And also the euros are used to LANS and low pings. Not to make excuses.

SwishaHouse isn't really a clan because we rarely play games together - its just a band of internet thugs the likes
of which the world has never known. The posse has been around for about 8 years. It consists of about 10-15 people,
who have mostly been there for the entire 8 years (no new idiots allowed). Basically
we all played QW/TF with different clans but since we were the coolest dudes in the community we formed our own channel
even though the channel really had nothing to do with being a clan for a gameoranything.
Even though SwishaHouse isn't known for gaming skill we are reknowned across north america for having the best shit talkers

WHATS YOUR OPINION ON THE CLAN KAPITOL/XENOCLAN MERGE RECENTLY?
cK pretty much sucks now. Apparently we merged with some nobody assed clan called xeno and now the clan is filled with
dork assed scrubs. All of the old members are never around that made cK famous (spook/czm/fatality/etc.) and now the
channel is filled with nobodies who play shitty games no one has ever heard of because maze is desperately recruiting
the best players (supposedly) from these games to try to make cK relevant again. So basically now the cKlegacy is going to
be a bunch of idiots no one respects placing 3rd in a COD tournament rather than cK dominating the q3 scene in their prime.
