Quake III DeFRaG run on the most detailed strafe map of this size ever made.

This project was completed over the span of 3 years and it has been worked on in secrecy.
The goal was to publish it by the end of 2024 as this year in December, Quake III is celebrating the 25th anniversary of it's release.

The map was designed by IMOOR in co-operation with and tested by n00k1e. The base for this map was a much shorter, weapons-style version: DFWC2019-4. That map was then modified and expanded in every possible dimension and and what came out in the end, exceeded our expectations. The amount of detail on such a huge level is simply mind blowing and will hopefully be appreciated. Just this one map alone takes around as much disk space by itself as the whole original Quake III Arena game.

To give you some more context on how detailed it is, UNDERWORLD contains almost 3000 custom made models and close to 90000 brushes, compared to some Q3 classics:
Q3DM6 (The Camping Grounds) - 48 models and 2081 brushes
Q3DM13 (The Lost World) - 35 models and 1604 brushes
Q3DM17 (The Longest Yard) - 12 models and 456 brushes

So a huge shout-out to IMOOR for the amount of work he had put into this. His commitment to mapping is simply on another level. Making a clean, fast run and editing the video was also quite challenging and exhausting for me as well, but we have done it and we can now share it with you all. Enjoy!

In Memory of Frazer "Fraze" Hockley

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and esteemed community member, Frazer "Fraze" Hockley. As one of the longest-standing members of our Australian Quake community, Fraze's impact was felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him or watching him play.

Fraze began his competitive journey in Quake Live, quickly rising through the ranks with his exceptional skill and unwavering determination, side by side with his brother and sparring partner, Camma. His passion for the game took him across the globe to Europe, where he held his own against and defeated some of the world's best players. His performances were nothing short of inspiring, showcasing not only his personal talent but also elevating the profile of Australian players on the international stage.

Beyond his competitive achievements, Fraze was a generous mentor and entertainer. Through his tutorials and streams, he taught countless players the intricacies of the game in an entertaining and easy to understand manner, always eager to share his knowledge and help others improve. His ability to talk while playing a the highest level was extremely unique and this made him maybe the most entertaining quake streamer ever. His contributions have also been instrumental to the community in nurturing new talent and brought us together with entertainment and highlights. His streams were more than just gameplay; they were a reflection of his love for the game and passing on that passion to others who shared it.

In Diabotical, Fraze was part of some of the game's most unforgettable moments, whether it was his streams, his tournament matches, or his interviews. His gameplay was a perfect blend of high-level competition and entertainment. Similarly, in Quake Champions, he remained an absolute beast, quickly improving with his grit and grind approach and then consistently defeating top-tier players, and ultimately coming in 1st place in AQL4.

On a personal note, every time I faced Fraze in a match, you could feel his determination in game. Yet, no matter how intense the competition, he always took the time afterward to share some words about what he enjoyed about the game and have a laugh. His grit and relentless pursuit of excellence were qualities I think we all admired.

Fraze's legacy goes beyond his accolades and achievements. I think I speak for all of the community when I say he was a beacon of inspiration, a mentor, and a friend to many. His contributions have left an ever-lasting mark on our community, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Fraze. Thank you for the memories, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

The sign-ups for Quake Live TDM 4v4 Winter Season 2025 will be open from Sunday 1st December until Sunday 22nd of December 2024.

The Tournament start will be Monday 13th of January 2025, when hopefully all are back from their holidays.

The donated prizemoney so far is 1200€ donations which will be payed out over top3 placements. Donations will be possible until the end of the tournament.

A new series of online Quake Live tournaments has been announced by a team of enthusiasts inspired by the well known 125 FPS Cups. The goal of the new team is to bring some attention back to QL and have some fun like in the good old days.

The league starts on this Sunday, October 13. The first stage is 10 weekly tournaments with different map pools, where the participants are going to collect points and ~100$ for the top 3 places. At the end, 16 players with the most points will fight in the final tournament for ~500$ and respect.

The Multiplayer Doom Federation (MDF) is back! Originally launched in 2018, MDF was created to blend the competitive intensity of online Doom with the sheer fun of community-driven play. Our goal has always been to create an environment that welcomes everyone—from longtime veterans to complete newbies. Through countless events, tournaments, mapping projects, podcasts, and streams, we achieved that vision.

In 2022, MDF evolved into Doom Central (DC), where many of you joined us for a variety of events and projects, and for that, we’re incredibly grateful. Now, we believe the timing is right to bring MDF back to its roots.

You may remember our wide range of tournaments, covering every game mode imaginable: FFA, Duel, CTF, 3-way CTF, Dominatrix, TDM, TLMS, LMS, and more. This autumn we are hosting a QuakeLive CTF 4v4 league, just as in the good old days. The main difference with lots of other CTF-related events is the format: it is not a draft but a team event: you must find an existing team to join or create one yourself. There are already about 40 people ready to play, and we already have three teams.

Region: Europe
Duration: depends on the number of teams and the pace, from one month.
Schedule: Flexible. The league starts on the first week of September. End date - TBD.
Format: Groups, then double elimination.
Prize pool: 1000+ euros
Divisions: Depending on the teams registered, by the agreement with the others, we will have either one division or two. The first division will consist of the best players based on the community knowledge and/or the House Of Quake ratings at the time before the league starts; the second will be of the teams, the players of which are less experienced and/or have lower ratings.

MADIR 2, the next installment in the MADIR series, is finally complete! Featuring satisfying mid-air shots, double rails, and more, this release was originally planned for Q2 of 2024. However, life got busy, and I had to postpone it. Thank you for your patience.

In this video, I aimed to create a hybrid vibe. The first part showcases a new editing technique I'm experimenting with, while the last part shifts towards an ambient and epic setting with cinematic grading and a fitting music score.

House of Quake will hold a Capture the Flag League starting in early May. This is a new edition of a well-established competitive game mode and we would love as many hands on deck as we can!

For those who are interested, I would invite you to join the House of Quake discord server where there is an ongoing discussion in the CTF-league channel regarding the exact league format - forming the teams (self-initiating or draft), tournament format (Swiss format, Double round robin) and other possible settings.

There are ongoing negotiations with sponsors, but as of far, there is no prize pool.

On Thursday, 25th of April, there will be a final announcement of the league's format. Registration opens this Sunday and will close on the 28th of April. Until then, I invite you to join the discord and help us with the decision!
