Summers officially over down under and we've all been working on our tans for the upcoming SydLAN #2 this month. To kick of the Month of April we have had our recent online duel competition come to it's closing. Which saw Australia Daniel "Dandaking" De Sousa take on Cameron "Camma" Hockley. Most of you would know about Cam's brother Australia Frazer "Fraze" Hockley and his recent trip to Europe. Due to this trip Fraze was unable to partake in the competition, leaving the opportunity for his brother to steal the lime light. 3rd Place decider also went on between long time Quake Liver players Australia Matthew "Haymo" Hayman and New Zealand Oscar "phyrigian" Smith. Both match VODs are in this new post and a big thanks to our sponsors ItsDirect and PocketShop.

After a while I'm back with another Quakeworld movie. Unlike Sweetheart, this one has been made mainly to have fun with the synchronization on a track I like, and to use the camera tool from ezQuake. So, even if it has been a LOT of work, it's really short, and has a 1 minute intro/outro. I hope you'll enjoy it though!

EQL16 divisions set and league started (14 comments)

The spring season of European Quake League (EQL) has just started as we saw the 20 teams signed up getting sorted into two separate divisions last Sunday, with the league officially starting this week.

Division 1 consists of 11 teams and will feature an A and a B playoff where the teams ending up on spot 1-4 advance to the A playoff, while the teams ending up on spot 4-8 goes through to the B playoff. In division 2 there are 9 teams and there will be one big playoff featuring all the top 8 teams, leaving one poor team missing out on the fun. In the group stages the teams play eachother once in best of three maps while playoff games are played best of five maps. The playoffs are scheduled to begin on the 12th of May.

The premier game is yet to be played, but if one is curious to know what to expect then Sweden Hooraytio has had a look at the contenders in division 1 of the European Quake League, sharing his view on the strengths and weaknesses in the various participating teams this season. Head on over to his column on the EQL website to read his thoughts on what there is to expect from the Premier League of the QuakeWorld 4on4 scene.

The FACEIT Quake Live Winter Season Championship Finale is upon us, as the best of the last few months' FACEIT Sunday Cups will come together to determine who is the Winter Champion! This will all take place on Sunday 7 April, starting at 04:00 CDT.

The eight players qualified are evil, dem0n, Cooller, pavel, Guard, Cypher, matr0x and twister (replacing Fraze, who is back in Australia). They will be placed in two groups, with all matches in Best-of-3 and streamed. The top two will head into a playoff stage, with the matches taking place in Best-of-5.


Bringing the action to you will be United Kingdom Daniel "ddk" Kapadia and a man who has long been lost, but now found again: United States of America Paul "czm" Nelson. Be sure to tune in to FACEIT TV from 04:00 CDT and onwards.

In the North American Quakeworld scene, United States of America/Russia B1aze is organizing one day duel tournaments. They are typically themed around a single map per day, and they happen once or twice or thrice a week.

The latest edition of any given week is accessible on quakephil.com/qwna and everyone from North America is welcome to join. We play on N.A. servers. Sometimes they are seeded, sometimes not so much, sometimes we have double eliminations, sometimes not. But one thing is always guaranteed: telefrags, bores, and good games!

"The April 2013 Standard arena rotation is now online. On the first Monday of each month, we will be cycling the Standard arena pool. Rather than only having access to the same standard arenas day in and day out, each month we will now feature 24 arenas selected as playable for Standard-level matches.

Newly released arenas will remain exclusive for at least three months, but every other arena is eligible to be included in the cycle."

After showing a recent great boost in activity with Renaissance Cup and 125 FPS Monthly League the Russian community is now proud to announce a LAN event. The world’s most competitive Quake Live players will come together to go head-to-head at Gazprom St. Petersburg Quake Live Masters Invitational LAN Tournament, being held on 15th-18th of August 2013 at the AZIMUT Hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Vying for their share of over 500 000 RUB (~$16 000) in prize money, gathered for the tournament with the help of Alexey A. and his colleague Alexey M. from Gazprom company 24 top Quake Live professionals will compete in the Quake Live Duel Masters Invitational Championship.

Here are the FACEIT Daily Cups for 25 to 28 March. All the cups will kick off at 13:30 CDT, with check-ins opening at 12:30 CDT, except for the TDM cups, which will start one hour earlier, 12:30 CDT (check-in opens at 11:30 CDT).

Monday will feature the Level 4 and Level 8 duel cups, while on Wednesday the other two levels, 6 and 10, will be able to face each other off.

This week however, we will be featuring two Team Deathmatch cups instead of Clan Arena. On Tuesday the TDM 2v2 Test Cup will take place, while on Thursday teams of four can get their fix. You can create a team in the right top corner, be sure to only add one extra person to the team (2/4 - depending which cup - players per team max.). If you are already in a team, you will have to quit it. Be sure all players check-in.
This does not mean we will stop hosting CA cups, but we will be alternating every week between TDM and CA.


Don't forget you can play on the FACEIT QL Ladder every evening from 13:00 CDT till 19:00 CDT!

I've started streaming at http://www.twitch.tv/nnn_apparition_ and the bitrate I'm streaming at is pretty high but the quality doesn't look very good. What do you guys prefer to stream at? (I use around 3700 - 4000 at Quality 10)
