In two days the FACEIT: Legends Cup will be kicking off. We're glad to be releasing the format, schedule and maps for the tournament.

The cup will kick off with two groups of four players. The top two will progress to a single elimination playoff stage. All matches will be played in Best-of-3, except for the semi finals and grand final, which will be Best-of-5. We understand that a lot wanted a round-robin stage, so more matches could be played, but unfortunately due to time restraints this is not possible.

Maps for the tournament had already been announced live on stream. Be sure to tune in on time to FACEIT TV, which will start at 05:30 CDT with United Kingdom Daniel "ddk" Kapadia, United Kingdom Xavier "Zoot" Dhorne and United Kingdom Stuart "TosspoT" Saw on the microphone.


The groups will be drawn live on stream during the FACEIT QL North America Saturday Cup, which will start at 13:00 CDT. Be sure to tune into that to know the groups and enjoy some more Quake Live action!

I am happy to announce the final two players for the FACEIT: Legends Cup. The last two spots will be taken by Austria Richard "Noctis" Gansterer and Netherlands Sander "Vo0" Kaasjager!

This means we have now announced all eight players for the tournament. They will be battling on Sunday 16th December, and the show will start at 05:30 CDT. We will announce the format to you soon.

The QuakeLive DreamHack Winter 2012 edition recently concluded with the Russian player Evil taking home the crown. Last week, I got a chance to sit down with him for an interview. During this interview, evil talked about the Russian quake scene, his sources of inspiration, how he prepared for DHW2012 and his future plans.

Here are a couple of excerpts:
Cypher has one special characteristic - if the enemy starts to fear him in-game and avoids a shootout with him till the end, Cypher will exploit this thing very hard! So, you need to fight with him in any combat and never run away without a fight.

Against Rapha, you need to know the things he starts his game with. He calculates a sequence of armors (spreads around within a circle in their proximity) and likes to take advantageous positions. He plays very standard, dry game, without special aggressive moves or focus on specific weapon(s).

This weekend FACEIT will be bringing you a lot of Quake Live action, as on Sunday we will be hosting the FACEIT: Legends Cup, featuring players like tox and Cooller. We are happy to now add a North American cup to the weekend, on Saturday, because the Sunday Cup is canceled.

At 13:00 CDT the FACEIT North America Cup will kick off and is open to all players from North America. Sign-ups are currently open, and check-ins opening at 12:00 CDT.

Casting will be provided by United Kingdom Daniel "ddk" Kapadia and United Kingdom Xavier "Zoot" Dhorne, live on FACEIT TV. The stream will go live at 13:30 CDT.

The Absolute Beginners Cup Series, aimed exclusively at new Warsow players is about to kick off with its first tournament happening on December, 16th of 2012. The cup will start at 12:00 CDT and feature Duel as its gametype. The tournament will be played in Double Elimination mode with Bo1 matches until the Semi Finals of each bracket. The Grand Final will feature two sets of Bo3.

Since quite a lot of people asked me to publish it as video to reach broader audience, I'll just rewrite the content of the forum post.

"Hi, my clanmate has posted the unfinished version of our Q3 fragmovie on youtube. Frags are great imho and it's raw Q3 TDM most of the time, so I think someone might want to take a look.

If you don't know about UDT, please read this post. I just wanted to share with you that I finally managed to fix a major issue in the demo cutter code.

This bug would cause some output demos to have some invisible enemies, events that would happen in rapid-fire succession instead of only happening once, etc. If you've seen any of these or some other weird stuff, I'd advise you to grab the latest version and if possible, to send me the original demo and the start and end times you used. The more test demos I have for validation, the better I can make sure code changes made to the cutter don't break anything that worked previously.
