For the fourth time, MaverickServers is hosting a Quake 3 level design competition. Mappers from the community are encouraged to participate; veteran mappers and those looking to get into mapping are welcome to join in on the fun. Prizes will be awarded to the best maps.

The contest will start on June 2nd and run for 10 weeks until August 11th. Judging will occur for 1 week after. Registration deadline is 3 weeks after the start date on June 23rd.

Sapphire, Wacom, and Kot-in-Action are already sponsoring and there are more to come.

some new Q2 Quake 2 movies were realised,one of them was made by the old-schooler Hungary dud4 with some nice air-rocket frags and awesume rail shots,here is a note from him about this movie :

"i've quit the game 3-4 years ago, and made this from my fellow demos to 80% 3 years ago..
I decided to finish the fellow 20% last month, to get rid of many uncompressed files from hdd. as the name tells, it's not a serious production, just a short mix of funplay.

i'm not coming back, just a final goodbye to this awesome game..

Welcome to The Champions League, Quake Live Team Death Match league for the current top teams of the Europe. We consider this to be a beta tournament, and if everything works out well and people like the concept, it will become a series with 2 tournaments per year. We use forced maps for this league and the matches will be played every Sunday at 11:00 CDT and 13:00 CDT during 6 weeks.

The duel cup starts with a group stage. You can find the rules right here. Please stay stick to the rules to have the best experience in competetion and fun. Infected Gaming now organizes the cups every Saturday and later with some changes, so more players will be able to participate. Don't worry we will inform you about the cups but maybe you should know, how to sign-up. Just check out the cup page to see the wanted chapter.

With the first Points Cup out of the way, the second one is just around the corner. playQUAKELIVE Series 2 Points Cup #2 for Europe kicks off in a few days, on 08:00 CDT, 6 May 2012. The registrations are open, and you’re encouraged to register, even if you played the last cup since the points add up and are the only criterium for getting into the Grand Finals.

If you missed out on the action from the last cup, you can always check out the VOD, and see some nice ctf action.

And for the end, CyberSports Network would love to thank it's sponsors, namely Solar Gaming League and Twitch TV for getting the prizes for the playQUAKELIVE series.
