Quake 4 re-release in June (Xbox & PC) (146 comments)

Bethesda plans to re-release the seven-year-old first person shooter Quake 4 on Xbox 360 in June. In Northamerica the game launches on Tuesday, 19th June with a new $19.99 price point. In Europe, it launches on PC and Xbox 360, in the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Benelux territories.

Quake 4, developed by Raven Software in collaboration with series creator id Software for publisher Activision, launched in 2005 on PC, later was released on the new home console Xbox 360. It was released on Steam in 2011.

dem0n interview. I did the translation myself again so I apologize for any mistakes.

You probably all know

dem0n, brilliant TDM / CTF / duel player from Belgium, and probably the one who has achieved the most in QuakeLive. In this interview we discuss his personal career, the CTF NC, TDM and the Belgium scene, the Adrien "burnedd" Denis case, the future of fast FPS and so on. Here's an extract of the interview:

Let's talk about duel. You already went to many big LAN events like DreamHacks or the UGC and you regularly do pretty well in Zotac cups, what do you think of your situation on the international scene and what are the domains in which you have to get better in order to annoy the big five in your opinion ?
Honestly, in online competition I have more difficulties against "subtop" players than against top players like Cypher, Avekkk, Cooller or rapha...except strenx of course. By subtop, I mean players like p0ni, pavel_, uaReaper, alfaomega, agent, evil, etc. who are really good players online according to me. I did some good results in LAN events too but I often missed some opportunities, some momentum.[...]

I'm glad to announce that Adroits will be hosting another Quake Live duel cup. After the success of our last tournament, we gathered all feedback and believe we've satisfied each request for the time being. You asked for no player caps, we've removed any limit for player signups. You asked for self check-in, we now allow players to check-in themselves. In addition to these improvements, we'll be throwing in a SteelSeries QcK+ for the winner. When? April 14th, 14:00 CEST.

After four years of abstinence there comes a new Duel map by acid built specifically for CPM. It is small sized and features an item set containing two Yellow Armors, Green Armor and a Mega Health, placed in a hazardous corridor.

Edit: Due to many complaints, Siberia is removed from the map pool and is replaced by Soap on a Rope (cu3ctf1) by Cuirass.
Edit2: Players no longer need to be present for the picking ceremony, only captains.
Edit3: Due to many requests, the date has been changed to 29th of April instead of the 28th. The cup is to be held on a Sunday now.
Edit4: Soap on a Rope (cu3ctf1) replaced by cpmctf2 due to popular demand. This cup's map pool is unpredictable for sure.

Update: Rankings for Div 1 have been updated. Div 2 final and bronze finale will be played later this week.

Last week's first AMC brought us some great games. Currently leading the rankings are Team Mamut (Div 1) and Team Evolution (Div 2). But it's not over, yet! Activity matters, and you can still sign your team up and reach the finals! Three more cups to go, so sign up NOW!

ESL AMC #2 is kicking off tonight! Check-ins will open at 19.30 CEST, the cup will start at 20 CEST. And as last week, the cup will be covered by Level Up TV.

The ClanBase Quake Live EuroCup will feature 12 teams playing in two groups (2x6) where 3 teams from each group will advance to playoff stage. Due to time constraints (trying to finish the cup before summer) the cup will use single elimination system. Eight teams have received direct invitation while the other 8 will battle it our for the remaining 4 spots.

wonko from the #uscpmpickup channel are running a CPM Duel league for anyone willing to play. The league will start out with Group Stages, where winners will move on to Double Elimination Brackets. As always, Maverick Servers is also helping run and manage the servers. The league end date will be determined by the number of players participating. Matches will be streamed regularly by Ready Up Radio.

For any Europeans interested in helping out, please PM me on IRC in #uscpmpickup.

There are those days that when you wake up, you think back about all the glorious moments in your life. There probably aren't many. That's ok. That just makes those Stickrunners seasons more unique. You know you loved it. The taste of victory. The smell of fear in your enemies just before obliterating them with that quad. The feeling you get after beating them up a little with your gauntlet. The satisfaction of pushing someone over the edge and making him ragequit, and rubbing that screenshot in his face afterwards. Yeah, there's nothing quite like Quake.

So after idling for a couple of years, we finally decided to organise one more Stickrunners season for old times' sake. That's right. We're back in business and we're here to help you take your Sundays back. No more nagging lovers, no more tear jerkers you have to sit through pretending you're tough. No need to keep up appearances here. We know you're tough. All you have to do is make a stand and sign up by contacting us in #stickrunners on Quakenet.

I know, your first thought is "wtf?". It was mine too. I could not believe it either what a slacker you have been. I still can't. So here is what we are going to do to fix this:

Game: Quake 3 Arena (sad I needed to spell that for you)
Mode: OSP CTF 2v2
Time: every Sunday 21:00 CET
Maps: probably the usual - q3wcp18, q3wcp17, q3ctf1, q3wcp9, q3wcp1, q3wcp10
Other: 2 maps per round, timelimit 20, 1 round per Sunday, number of rounds depends on the signups
