Rules and info:

• Map-pool: cpmctf2; q3wcp9; q3wcp17; q3wcp18; q3wcp23.

All maps will be played with all weapons ( - bfg), with exception of q3wcp23 where railgun will be removed (/cv items -rg) and bfg added (/cv items +bfg)

• Maximum of 3 players in each team.

• Timelimit - 1 minute.

• Every round played to 15 points (default)

• Full Double Elimination (may be changed, depending on how much teams will show up for the tournament)

• Server choice - by agreement of both teams (captains), with no agreement about the server - the match is played on q3.cn.ru:27960-64 or another server chosen be the referee

• Map choice - coin flip (/cv random 2 (h/t)) winner will decide who picks the first map. Before the first map is played second team should pick the second map. Same map can not be picked. Position (att/def) is chosen by the team that has picked the map.

• Tie after 2 maps - the team with less point sum after 2 maps is crossing out one map of the remaining three. And the team with more points is choosing the one to play from the last two.

• Suicide is forbidden - to get any advantage during a game, otherwise win for the map is given to the opposite team.

• Teams may use /speclock (invites to referees and GTV)

• All players should record demos, keep it untill the end of the tournament and give to the referee (VaNeK) if needed.

• At least one of the referees should be present in the game, otherwise the result is not accepted.

We talk with

VVD about playing and coding Quake from a Russian perspective. Some of the show is in Russian, but I translate everything. Also the format is shorter - trying to keep it to 30 mins.

There are some awkward pauses when English becomes too difficult for our guest, but I think it is worth it to get an interesting point of view from one of the older and more experienced Quakers - both in the game and in the code.

VVD is an old school quaker who has contrinbuted to KTX (quakeworld's official tournament mod, akin to OSP for quake3) and EZQuake (quakeworld's official modern client) and even MVDSV (quakeworld's official server software) is an all-around FreeBSD nerd, as well as a top notch player (although he won't admit it)

Follow and cheer VVD on in duelmania! And heed his final words, which I may not have translated 100% - play quake for fun every now and then, don't worry about quitting it!

Following the recent thread about the state of the American QuakeLive community we decided to launch an US pickup channel on Quakenet.

The channel features Team Death Match (4on4 and 2on2), Capture The Flag, Clan Arena (4on4 and 2on2) and Free for all pickup modes. There is a Mumble server for people to use and a dedicated website with an embedded webchat for people that don't use irc/quakenet regularely.

The advantages of pickups

All NA Quake players are invited to join us at

#QLpickup.us and have a better experience playing the game. The NA quake scene is not dead.

pops, we are pleased to announce the tournaments we'll be hosting during October. We have a new Coach in JeeSports Academy, we have Open Series Duel Cups with prizes for NA players as well as Open Series TDM 4v4 in place of CA 2v2. Check below for more information.

There will be 4 types of cups

The planned Playoffs dates are the 27th October for Amateur duel Playoffs, the 29th September for Open duel Playoffs and the 28th October for 4v4 Open Playoffs. But before that, the weekly schedule will look as following.

JeeSports's September Series is coming to an end. The open cup play-offs will be played at 07:00 CDT on the 1st October 2011. It has been a long fight between the players, so we would like to announce which participants have qualified to this month's Finals to play for the 160 Euro prize pool.
