During the summer QW has a habit of beeing a game of idling and activity probably gets smaller than in most similar games. In august and september most of the scene suddenly wakes up again and we can enjoy one of the biggest TDM scenes in Quake. At the moment I believe the amount of active players and clans is quite similar considering QW and QL.

And now to the actual news, EQL has announced that the signups will start 22nd of August. While the they will close the 11th of September. The season starts asap after the divisions are done at that point, so max a day or two after the signups closes! Mappool is still discussed and will be announced before the signups open, but similar so earlier season we will have TB3 (including, E1M2, DM2, DM3) and most probably two "kenya maps" (QW slang word which means: maps that are not made by ID).

There will also be later some announcement about big events during the fall and winter that will probably blow your mind away. But until everything is clear about them we will keep you waiting ;)

Summer. Finally! Time for some more TDM action! After two successful "Pre Summer Cups", ESL presents the first two TDM 4v4 Summer Cups 2011. For the first Summer Cup we go back to the Quake3 maps while the 2nd Summer Cup will feature the new maps. Sign up now and go from old to newschool!

During check-ins, a first come first serve policy will be used. If you want to make sure you can participate, signing up NOW and checking in fast is necessary!

The Edge #2 is long time over, so are the NDML #9 and EDL #9. There are only 2 games left to be played in the EUROQ2L #15. It sure looks like, the competitive part of the Quake 2scene is going to follow its typical schedule with the summer break. The process nearly as old as the game itself - as the spring season finishes, the playerbase shrinks immensely until the fall season launches its tournaments. Yes, that would be the case this year as well, if it weren't for newash and his never-ending ideas on how to revive the game we all love.

The new project of newash's - TESLA, The Endless Supreme Ladder is supposed to be the kind of tournament Quake 2 really needs - a never-ending tournament, which runs extremely smooth, as it's competition oriented. Just as TESLA's motto goes- no scheduling, no deadlines, no walkovers, no screens, no demos, no pressure. Just pure games, pure competition.

Yet, TESLA is not your ordinary Quake 2 ladder. It is somewhat divided into two parts, as you earn points of two kinds - normal (ranking) points, which determine your position in the ladder and Grand Prix points. GP points are calculated from different formula and are meant to determine the winner of the 10 week period of the tournament, called Grand Prix.

What's even more interesting, is the mappool. There is no hard set mappool of any sort! The map for each week of the competition is determined by the scenaq2.pl's pool results. That means, every participant can cast his/her vote and hopefully see their favourite map featured in the upcoming week. From what I've gathered, newash may include non-typical maps to the pool options as well, so the tournament may become testground for new duel maps, if that's the players' will.

Although TESLA tournament itself, and its master server is based in Poland, newash is proud to announce that the tournament is open for anyone with a NoFake account and the tournament's main language is, in fact, english.

Go grab the COD Black Ops copy of yours or hit up steam. Found a clan and try to qualify for the COD LAN in Los Angeles. 1 Million USD brought up by the publisher of the game are up for grabs.

This is my first Quake Live movie. It is almost exclusively air-rockets and CTF4 only, as CTF4 is more like FFA CTF more than anything. I finished the movie 6 months ago but due to the video not rendering at all I wasn't able to finish it. So I got help from my friend Inffi (lassin1234) who rendered the movie for me and added some nice looking effects on the way :)

The 2nd qualifier of the eSport Universe will be played today around 11:00 CDT. Yesterday, pavel took the slot of the first qualifier after defeating ash in the final.
