Playquake.com caught up with DreamHack Summer 2011 admin’s Sweden slayzah and Sweden snelvovve in the midst of their busy preparations for the giant upcoming LAN which will see top Duelists and TDMers from around the globe competing for a total of 80 000 SEK (8 700 EUR) in prizes across the two tournaments.

They talk about the future of Quake, the map pool, all the different DH competitions and much more, here is a snippet:
This is the first big TDM LAN in QuakeLive and the attendance looks to be good, do you think this is the start of TDM becoming a bigger deal again?

Sweden slayzah: I would really love that TDM started to become bigger again actually. If we (DreamHack) takes the first step to add a tourney with it, I hope more will follow.
Sweden snelvovve: I would sure hope so! So I will do my best to make this TDM experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

How can you handle the big fame? A lot of girls want to have sex, children and family with you. A lot of boys too!

Yeah I have got a couple of indecent requests, but I love my wife and my daughter *smiles*. My young baby likes to watch VODs of the matches everybody laughs a lot. My wife not that much, but she has got a Quakelive account, too, and she already played in past.

ESL QL TDM Pre-Summer 1 Cups (122 comments)

The European ESL Quakelive staff is organizing two TDM 4v4 cups before and after DreamHack Summer 2011. The cups will be played on a single day using SE Brackets and bo3 matches, and will feature two divisions. The first one will take place on Wednesday 15th at 13:00 CDT and its sign-ups are already open.


The 2nd cup should be played on Wednesday 22nd June, at the same time.

Update: The Div2 final between Europe e-violence and Europe wreCkamob will be played tonight at 14:30 CDT. Streaming on Level Up TV.

Infected gaming is organizing this summer a CA 1v1 Cup on ClanBase.

Every match will be played in Bo3, except the final played in Bo5.

Maps are Blood Run, Asylum, Campgrounds, Hells Gate Redux and Hearth.

Sign-ups are opened on the cup page.

DreamHack Summer 2011 - Quake schedule (193 comments)

It seems today was a good day to release the schedule for the Quakelive competitions to take place during the DreamHack Summer 2011! Both the Duel and TDM tournaments will be played on Saturday and Sunday. Needless to say the schedule is very tight with so many matches to happen only in 2 days. The TONY FFA Special still is planned for Monday, probably starting in the morning.

Note that the playoff placements will now be randomized. Warm-up starts at 01:00 CDT on Saturday.

Update: The Grand Final between Europe 4Kings and Europe Reason Gaming will be played tomorrow at 12:00 CDT.

During the last ASUS Spring, the QL TDM Show match was canceled due to delays. The ROCCAT prizes planned for this match now became the prizes for an online TDM Cup organized by the c58 guys. The Team tournament will take place Monday 13th of June, starting at 07:00 CDT. You will be able to register your team on that day from 06:00 CDT after contacting Ukraine c58|uaShadow in #asus.ql.

The tournament will use a Double elimination tree, with bo3 matches in WB, bo1 in LB and bo5 for the final. A maximum of 16 teams will be playing. The map list will consist of Deep Inside, Dreadful Place, Grim Dungeons, Hidden fortress, Intervention, Purgatory and Realm of Steel Rats.

Last but not least, the winning team will be rewarded with the prize offered by ROCCAT: Soup (each player of the team will get some!).
