Finding the best CSGO gambling sites in 2019 is not that easy. CSGO gambling has had a chequered past to say the least, with many sites being shut down and penalised because of illegal activity.

There is clearly a demand among some Counter-Strike lovers to bet on their favourite game but for the sector to be sustainable long-term, CSGO gambling sites must comply with the laws - primarily for the safety and security of esports fans but also for the sake of themselves.

Virtus.pro Signs Cypher (2 comments)
Posted by Sabo @ 15:23 CDT, 29 June 2017 - iMsg
Legendary Quake player and former Overwatch pro Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky was signed by Virtus.pro. After being courted by numerous organizations, the 27 year old Belarusian chose the Russian organization citing his desire to stay in Minsk.

On the one year contract, Virtus.pro General Manager Roman Dvoryankin said "The contract’s fairly long duration will allow Alexey to feel confident and immerse himself fully in the game. We have signed one of the best players in the world and are now positive that we can maintain a serious and long-term presence in this discipline."

Cypher first found success in Quake III, signing to Fnatic at age 16. He is a four-time QuakeCon champion and has won numerous titles at ESWC, Dreamhack and more. He remained active in the Quake 4 and QuakeLive scenes until taking a year-long hiatus from esports in 2014.

He is the first player to win a Quake Champions tournament, taking first over Pelle "fazz" Söderman in the 125 FPS Sunday Cup #83.

The former champion dabbled in Counter Strike: Global Offensive and found moderate success in Overwatch with fellow Quaker Shane "Rapha" Hendrixson under team ANOX.

In a recent interview at Cybersport, Cypher revealed that he doesn't practice with other pro players and shared his thought process on champion selection.

Cypher will represent Virtus.pro at QuakeCon.

CPMA Kenya Cup 2017 (46 comments)
Posted by xero- @ 19:33 CDT, 27 June 2017 - iMsg
Netherlands Terifire & The CPMA Community will be hosting a duel kenya cup this July 8, 2017 starting at 08:00 CDT. This will be an open event, and players from all regions are welcome to play with the caveat that players will mostly be playing on Europe European and CanadaMexicoUnited States of America North American servers. The event will be streamed by nekon on his channel on twitch nekonTV.

Register: Players must join the CPMA Discord Server & challonge sign-up via challonge. You'll find all the rules on the challonge page as well. For players who are unfamiliar with this format a kenya cup is a tournament which uses non-standard maps. However the tournament format will be quite familiar with most players, as we will be employing a double elimination bracket, with a BO3 upper bracket, and a BO1 lower bracket.

Update: dojo-b5 has been updated, you can download it here, and the map pack has been updated to reflect this change. Regarding weapon respawn times, it is five (5) seconds on all maps.

Update II: Thanks to Norway Fjoggs we now have a monetary prize pool, the breakdown of which is as follows:

Entrants must send their cut demos (you can use UDT to cut demos easily) containing the frag to fjoggis@gmail.com. Once all entrants have been uploaded to the YouTube CPMA YouTube Channel the community will take vote on the best frag.

This event we will be using six new maps and the map pool is: calendar and Fata Morgana by Netherlands Terifire, dojo-b5 by United States of America Scorch, fjo3tourney6-b3 by Norway Fjoggs, Quickfire by United States of America greed, and Trespass by United States of America Pat Howard. You can download the map pack here. All these maps, with the exception of Trespass, are being developed by their respect mapper and constructive feedback would be appreciated. It also provides the potential for newer players a chance to show their skills and maybe surprise veterans that have been grinding cpm22 for decades.

Edit: New map by ninemil. Will not be a part of the tournament, but check it out anyway!

6/27 Quake Champíons Patch update (73 comments)
Posted by Asuka_ @ 03:17 CDT, 27 June 2017 - iMsg
Following some minor patches in the previous weeks, the 6/27 Quake Champions Patch introduces new Duel mode dynamic (best of 5 instead of best of 3), Clutch champion improvements, rocket delay fix, HMG nerfing, and new spectator features for better streaming experience. Check out the full Patchlog below:
"Tomorrow (June 27) at 6am ET, we'll be conducting maintenance to deploy our latest patch. With this patch, we are expecting a longer than average server downtime, with an estimated reopen time of around 2pm ET. We'll keep you posted as soon as the servers are back up. Below are the full patch notes. One note in particular that we'd like to address is a fix we're implementing to greatly reduce latency in firing rocket/nail projectiles. To help illustrate the changes, we've included an image to show latency between Quake Live, CBT 11 (pre-6/27 patch), and CBT 12 (the 6/27 patch). We look forward to hearing your thoughts after the patch goes live with this change.

As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback once these changes go live. Thank you, all!"

Cypher interviewed about Quake Champions (106 comments)
Posted by Asuka_ @ 20:35 CDT, 24 June 2017 - iMsg
"In 2006, aged only 16, Belarus Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky was signed by Fnatic. By that point, he was already one of the strongest Quake players out there — both the third and fourth instalment. Cypher continued to make a living playing quake until 2014. According to him, it was only in 2011, when the first International was announced, that Quake’s lagging behind other esports disciplines began to be felt.

Cypher spent the last year and a half playing Overwatch, but switched to Quake Champions when its beta was announced — and went on to win its very first online tournament. CyberSport.ru talked to Yanushevsky about his career in Overwatch, the Quake Champions meta, and the esports prospects of this new game."

Preview:

Is it fair to say Quake Champions has become too much of an arcade game?

Belarus Cypher: It became simpler by an order of magnitude. This is a game in which you can’t heal yourself back to full, the way you could in previous Quake instalments; you can’t stack up and just circle the map killing everyone. That’s why the game used to be one-sided; there would be the one guy who was killing everyone and having fun.

Here, it’s built a bit differently. You’ve got abilities you can use in a mass fight, and besides, a hero has a health cap that can’t be exceeded. No matter how many megahealths and armors you pick up, if you get hit from a railgun, the second hit will kill you, unless you’re some super-fat tank. And if you are a super-fat tank, you’re very easy to hit.

They’ve balanced the game with newcomers in mind. In Quake III, you respawn with a machine gun, 125 HP, and zero armor, and until you pick up a good gun and a more or less decent armor suit, you won’t be fragging anyone. Here, you can take down someone who’s full-HP with just that machine gun. You can’t be chased around spawn points. The abilities, the invisibility, the orbs, the teleports, it’s all about doing everything to prevent top-tier players from owning noobs, to stop noobs having 0/45 runs.

winz on his career, Korea, stats and more, part 2 (20 comments)

winz reminiscing about his career: 'I usually have a very good idea of where I stand individually...'

While modern-day esports fans recognize Michael "winz" Bignet as a skilled and versatile Overwatch player—who is ready to play whatever position his team needs—his career as a professional player began more than a decade ago. In the distant 2004, he was already representing ‘against All authority’, a brand veteran fans will recognize as a once staple name among the upper echelon the French esports scene.

While winz wasn’t a regular in the offline circuit at the time, he’d grow to be recognized as one of the best in the games he played. Throughout 2005, he became UT2004 world champion by winning ESWC in France, his home country. 2006 saw him earning the gold again, but this time for Quake 4 with notable wins over toxjq, now recognized as the greatest Q4 player, and Cypher, who would eventually become the best, and arguably greatest, Quake duelist to date.

After the introduction of Quake Live, winz gave up on the 1v1 mode due to a number of gameplay changes he didn’t enjoy and the continued prevalence of old maps. For several years, he wasn’t part of the highest level of offline competition, but eventually made a comeback in team modes and games, winning premier tournaments in Quake Live TDM, ShootMania, and most recently, Overwatch.

Played a couple of games with Major on Nightmare, as usual trying to win by 40 frags difference for fun, and because I hit a couple mid-airs, I decided to go through the demos and try to make something with that, just to see what it would look like. Well here it is.

With all ten champions I did Tri-Bolt and Nailclimbing experiments, and here are the results, self-damage, angles etc. A lot of tricking seems possible, but the champions' different physics, speedcaps, and collision models do cause problems. I sincerely hope that on release there will be a mode with equal physics and without speedcaps, and mod-support for custom maps, so that the trickjumping and DeFRaGgery can go wild :)
