Introduction I was 10 years old when I played an id Software game for the first time. It was the time when my oldest brother and his friends would skip school to come home and play Doom. I would sit next to them and watch, possibly even more excited than they were. The game was so fresh, beautifu

A wake up call from a QUAKER to QUAKERS (84 comments)
Posted by q3reloaded.com @ 03:39 CDT, 22 July 2012 - iMsg
The main concern I have had so far, while reading the comments to ReLoaDeD cup announcement and other ReLoaDeD topics on ESReality website, is that at least the so called "veterans/players of QUAKE” do not have tolerance for players of other mods or older versions of QUAKE. In other words, I se

the game of shootmania (41 comments)
Posted by Weird @ 10:56 CDT, 26 June 2012 - iMsg
I decided to test shootmania for a bit and to write up a small list of pro and contra and neutral assesments and a small conclusion. This because many people have a judgement ready without having been able to play it. So here it is. Neutral: 1) The movement is kinda too limited and you have t

Goteborg, 5:40 am. I'm sitting at a cafe in the Landvetter airport, my laptop and an orange juice as fellow companions as I try to not fall asleep. Today, I got meetings starting early in Saarbruecken, and the only option to get there in time was to plan a trip over night, leaving directly from

Intrigue Invitational - $750 Start Up (10 comments)

Having enjoyed ZOTAC and DREAMHACK (minus unforunate no-shows) I'd like to see if anyone is interested in helping setup something similar to the regular ZOTAC for North America. The idea was inspired by Rapha's recent victory and comments, as well as Dahang's incredible play and Ze

Nintendo and the Internet (5 comments)

If there's one thing I dislike about Nintendo, it's their consistent failure to integrate the internet with their systems. Their resistance to integration almost seems to imply that they believe the internet is just a trend. When looking at the 3ds software-updating system, I have to assum

As much as I would like to keep playing quake for the next years, we have to admit that our beloved game is unique for its genre (so we most likely won't find any other FPS game that will satisfy our expectations) and that we are on a sinking ship lead by id software. Q3 vs QL The main

A Big Update (175 comments)
Posted by Memento_Mori @ 09:21 CDT, 7 May 2012 - iMsg
Recently, Quake Live Premium Pack 12 was released. As the rumors anticipated, this was going to be big update, possibly the biggest since the beginning of the premium packs. A number of features have been added, expanding the QL horizon in terms of modes and functionalities, and possibly bringing a

So we have williebobc, someone many of us know as a fun, respectable HoQ admin. Some of us also know him as a horrible quadrunner, sharply contested by own powerup ordeals, but thats another subject. I, for one, would hate to see him go. There are many reasons for this. The primary one being that h

The flaws of competitive CA (95 comments)
Posted by Memento_Mori @ 10:06 CDT, 19 April 2012 - iMsg
Introduction A lot of people consider CA a broken/inferior mode. People playing CA competitively tend to disagree. Although I’m far from being a top quaker, I’ve played different modes at an average competitive level. I used to compete at ra3 during 2003-2005, playing Clanbase div2 with DSQ
