With his victory in the final of the IEM V European Championships Russia Anton "Cooller" Singov has finally made his way back to the top of the world of Quake and acquired a major title after so many thought his time to be a champion had been and gone.

How has Cooller changed his approach to ztn, a map he was one the maestro of, to defeat an Poland av3k who has defeated him on it seemingly every time they have met? Did Cooller ever lose hope during his quest to become a champion again that he could see it through and reach his goal?

Carmac: "least unfair as possible" (164 comments)
Posted by Thorin @ 12:49 CST, 23 January 2011 - iMsg
Poland Michal "Carmac" Blicharz, ESL's Product Manager for the IEM, spoke in a video interview at length about all of the significant circumstances and factors surrounding the controversial pause, power outage and subsequent recreation of the final moments during the Cooller-Strenx fifth map.

Carmac explains that the lag on the LAN server was a result of power problems spiking the server. He says the power went out in the surrounding area of Kiev not just the Cyber Sport Arena. Carmac explains ESL's decision to recreate the conditions for the final moments of the game and his questioning on Strenx not pausing himself . Should the game have been paused at that moment in the first place?

Rakaka interviews cypher and strenx (3 comments)
Posted by blaze @ 05:29 CST, 22 January 2011 - iMsg
The Swedish e-sport site Sweden Rakaka is on site in Kiev and had the opportunity to sit down with a few of the Quakers.
Hellspawn sits down with France strenx and
Belarus Cypher and asks them how they feel about going at it in Kiev, their current skill level and a bit of the future of Quake.

Strenx: "On lan I feel comfortable, I play the same at I would in Zotac. I'm not afraid to do a thing that I would do, for example in Zotac to try some things, Risky maybe. On lan before I was really afraid.."

Cypher: "I am more calm in the game, I am more sure in myself and more confident versus everybody I play. It really helps me a lot because I'm not afraid to lose."

For those interested there's an interview with Spart1e (unfortunately in Swedish) at rakaka as well.

Cypher: "Usually I do not like my game" (17 comments)
Posted by Nukm @ 18:25 CST, 21 January 2011 - iMsg
While the IEM proceeds, fragster.de fragster talked to a self-aware Belarus Alexey "Cypher Yanushevsky. With losing just one single map he advanced to the playoffs. In the interview the Belarusian talks about a demolished mouse, his match against Cooller and his little secrets regarding the game.
Do you see any chance for Cooller winning a Quake Live title? He was quite close at Quakecon where he lost the final against you. He has not got any awards on his Quake Liive site so far.

Cypher: On Quakecon he had his best shape since now, there was everything perfect for him. Of course he lost to Spart1e in the Winnerbracket final but on the last day we played versus Cooller in about 20 practise games. After that he had a good warmup with me so he played better. He was in perfect conditions but I still managed to win against him. It will be very hard to see Cooller to play the way he did at Quakecon.
