DreamHack Summer 2011 - Quake schedule (193 comments)
Posted by xou @ 07:49 CDT, 14 June 2011 - iMsg
It seems today was a good day to release the schedule for the Quakelive competitions to take place during the DreamHack Summer 2011! Both the Duel and TDM tournaments will be played on Saturday and Sunday. Needless to say the schedule is very tight with so many matches to happen only in 2 days. The TONY FFA Special still is planned for Monday, probably starting in the morning.

Note that the playoff placements will now be randomized. Warm-up starts at 00:00 CST on Saturday.

DH TDM Hype Post (85 comments)
Posted by Nukm @ 11:57 CDT, 13 June 2011 - iMsg
It all started on the 9th of January 2011 when tybalt created a forum thread here on esr asking "QLTDM 4v4 - a possibility at next DH?". It was turned into a major news soon cause as the post stated: "The more interest the more chance that this will happen". 328 excited comments and a lot of talk on irc showed that not just a few people were anticipating a TDM LAN. With enough teams expressing their interest in attending, Dronar delivered the official confirmation just one month later: "TDM For DreamHack Summer". Since then the expectations and interest rose as fast as the level of competition and now its June and we are only 5 days away from the first QL TDM LAN epicness!

So à la carmac i will ask:
#1: Who is going to win the TDM competition?
#2: Who do you cheer for?
#3: Who will be the MVP of the Tournament?
#4: Will the Americans get out of their group?
#5: Who will be the dark horse of the tournament?
#6: Who will dissapoint?
#7: Will the lvl coverage be very good or very very good?

cu on lan!

Level Up Tv at DreamHack Summer 2011 (76 comments)
Posted by Trance @ 12:31 CDT, 29 May 2011 - iMsg
Once again we are pleased to announce that Level Up TV will be present, on site, this year during DreamHack Summer (18-21 June) to provide official coverage for the Quake Live duel and TDM tournaments.

This is our 4th consecutive DreamHack event after having covered the Winter 2009, Summer 2010 and Winter 2010 events, therefore we aim to bring you the best possible coverage to date.

United Kingdom Ziggy "nVc" Orzeszek and United Kingdom Stuart "Disrepute" Evans will be your dedicated casters for the tournaments. We will try to pair them with various pros as much as we can, and of course United Kingdom James "2GD" Harding might also be jumping on stream whenever he can.

The setup will be pretty much the same as we had during DreamHack Winter 2010, the only difference this time is that we will be using one of DreamHack’s Justin.tv channels. We know some of the European ISPs have had some routing issues with Justin.tv streams, but Belgium Cristian "Trance" Tamas is doing the best he can to eliminate those by working with the Justin technical crew. As for the tech side of things, be sure to expect a free 60 fps, 720p stream running at no less than 2.5-3 MB/s !

Everybody here at Level Up TV is hyped up and looking forward for this great event and we hope we will be able to share as much of the DreamHack spirit as possible with all of you back home.

Important Note!
Any streaming organizations that are interested to cover this event in any language other than English, please contact: trance@dreamhack.se

Last Round of players to DreamHack! (200 comments)
Posted by blaze @ 12:10 CDT, 16 May 2011 - iMsg
With currently about one month left until DreamHack Summer 2011 the last round of duel players have been invited to the tournament. With the two players coming from the online qualifier hosted by ZOTAC the duel list of players is now finished.

The TDM tournament is still lacking confirmation of most teams. We'd like all the teams who's going to DreamHack to send a message to either of the admins over at mIRC DreamHack.Quake. Sending a message to me (blaze) on ESR works just as fine! We need to know your team name and team line up for seeding purposes.

TONY FFA Special sponsored by 2GD (181 comments)
Posted by xou @ 09:52 CDT, 3 May 2011 - iMsg
DreamHack and United Kingdom 2GD announce the Quakelive TONY FFA Special for DreamHack Summer 2011 with a total prize purse of 10,000 SEK.

DreamHack and 2GD are proud to present the TONY FFA Special to the Swedish gamers. After witnessing Italy TONY's uncontested Quake FFA skills at the Ultimate Gaming Championships, it was obvious that TONY needed to go international. The amount of Quake players and competition in Italy alone just isn't enough for TONY. Even if TONY was to take on the whole of Italy in a FFA match while simultaneously raising his beautiful baby daughter, being the worlds best husband/ fantastic lover, It still wouldn't be a Challenge for poor TONY. Fact, he did and won. Which is why we're bringing TONY to DreamHack Summer, Sweden, the world's largest gaming LAN to see if we can find TONY some competition. Probably not. But were doing it anyway!
