Spawnluck Dreamhack CPM Preview (83 comments)
Posted by amanappl @ 07:56 CST, 24 November 2008 - iMsg
In just a few days from now the long awaited Dreamhack CPM Tournament in Sweden Jonkoping will kick-off. Those of you who are interested in an in-depth preview of the tournament and its favorites can check out our DreamHack preview on Spawnluck.com.

Here is an extract:
"The four strongest players in the tournament appear to be Sweden fox, Germany toxt3r, Finland LuGia and Poland pod1. As for the other Top Seeds it looks like Finland ouzo and Finland cubik won't be attending and Germany tubo's attendance is still up in the air. However, the skill gap between the top4 and the rest of the competition seems to be rather big with tubo being the only one a bit closer"

Further information about Nations Cup (13 comments)
Posted by Legie @ 19:36 CST, 5 November 2008 - iMsg
Please note: A few things that you should keep in mind

Registrations are still open: signed nations

- as you might know, the admin work is a time consuming thing; please, follow the schedule and rules to help me run the tourney smoothly

-the captains are obliged to send me the screenshots right after the match is over (I had to take the screenshots -all of them- by myself last year and I won't do it again)

-demos will be available on the QuakeQuickCup.com web site

-use the same country tag and nickname for the whole tourney (no mood colored tags; no pet names)

-be present on the IRC channel #quakequickcup for better communication

-once the match has been scheduled (when both teams agreed on a certain date), it cannot be postponed due to absence (unless you use your Wild card) - remember you can have up to four substitutes in your team; excuses won't work

-please check your team details and send me the missing information evetually

QUAKE 3 TDM - NATIONS CUP (179 comments)
Posted by Legie @ 12:15 CDT, 30 October 2008 - iMsg
Since the Euro Open Cup is now well running, I had enough time to finish the preparations for yet another big tourney - no other than QUAKE 3 TDM NATIONS CUP itself. The whole thing should start within 5 weeks, although this may change if some things would take me more time than expected. In order to make this NC even better than the last time, I've decided to make a few changes:

- The number of maximum teams per country is now restricted to ONE
- The number of maximum players per team is now restricted to 7 + 1 (team captain)
- I have now granted access to logs for almost all of the European servers, therefore I will check the logs after each game in order to prevent smurfing (fake nicking)
- I will no longer tolerate game rescheduling because of absence. Each team gets one "Wild card" that can be used for this purpose, but only once in the whole tourney.

edit: Bringing back the last year's Nations Cup atmosphere

edit3: When should the Quake Nations Cup start?

Quake Forever: QL changes to Q3 (71 comments)
Posted by Dronar @ 13:05 CDT, 27 October 2008 - iMsg
Since Quake Live hasn't been released yet we won't be able to host our own LAN-servers. We have tried to reach ID-software for 2 months now, trying to come to some sort of agreement. This has sadly not resulted in anything positive.

In order not to have players playing their games on german public servers with 10 spectators in the way we've decided to change the choice of game to Quake 3 Arena (VQ3).

Spart1e: I'm really hungry for revenge (58 comments)
Posted by adn @ 11:15 CDT, 25 October 2008 - iMsg
Last weekend the 22 year-old Swedish player shocked some of the community with his 2nd place at the eswc ESWC Masters of Athens tournament. On route to the final, Sweden Sebastian "Spart1e" Siira became the first person to knock Belarus Alexei 'Cypher' Yanyshevsky out of a competition this year after an exciting semi-final match.

Siira went onto the final in which he was defeated by SK Gaming's United States of America Shane 'Rapha' Hendrixson over three maps. In an interview with Four Kings, Siira has openly stated he will be looking to seek revenge for his loss.
"Rapha played really good; it's hard to play a player like him. He won this fight, but Spartaaaa are really hungry for revenge."
