Event: Party
The Party 2014 CTF Preview & PredictionsJust a couple more days untill the event starts, here's a preview of what to expect at the event
Starting off with the winner of the last "The Party" which was DP. The line-up back then was a lot different though with Spart1e, vertex, Impulse and Dem0n. With recent events the line-up is very similar to last times event, Impulse and Dem0n will make a reappearance joined by the one and only headz and Naity who last time played with dr. The ride has been rocky towards the lan with Un1ty having to drop out unfortunately but I'm sure they will be looking to land a top 3 spot.
Another team returning to "The Party" is broken, with a third place finish last time they didn't do bad at all. This time though they will have their original line-up with Blad3 back in the ranks where he was replaced by eXodus last time due to him having to admin the event. The German beast calipt showed he is still one of the best players and should not be underestimated, with sol4r and xtro to complete the line-up they have a strong offence which has won them many titles in both Quake 3 and QuakeLive. Will they be able to add "The Party" to that list and show they are once again the best?
For the first time we see The Expendables at an lan event, even though Silencep, Sc00t and eXodus were at the last "The Party" they were all in different teams. abso will be making his first appearance at The Party which concludes the team and shows a line-up thats eyeing for one of the top spots. With a difficult group this will show what to expect from them.
One of the contenders for another spot in the finals is H8H8, another strong team with German veterans famous for CTF and CA. This might be what sets them apart from the rest of the field, their lineup of ph, ouze and smove might bring something different to the table. The late addition of visser has made it possible to display their full line-up and will make them a team to look out for.
One of the newer clans in the scene is tMd, they've been having some player changes over the last months and it seems they have landed a steady line-up now. With former Expendables players Raptorious and razorx the foundation is there for a promising team, with the veteran soulreaver and the new kid on the block G4rlock they have a good chance of causing an upset especially since they're showing to be coming prepared putting in the practice to try and work their way into the knockout phase and have a shot at the title.
A newly formed team for this event is Faculty, with head admin Neyek as captain they have one of the most international teams harboring Lokario from Spain and corvu from Sweden. Drejk completes the line-up for what is a team which is looking to cause an upset. I feel the start will be a big factor in their progression, a strong win can set them up towards other good results. Can they surprise the competition with some new strategies and get through to the knockout rounds?
One of the outsiders will be Quad-s, a line-up formed by Quake buddies who's main reason will not be to finish first. That doesn't mean you can give them an inch as they have experienced players in their team. Smier and Sjook will be returning to "The Party" and they will bring along 5ilver and Spenzer. Everybody likes the underdog so we will just have to wait and see what they can bring to the table.
The same counts for LKFF, the oldest alive Dutch Quake clan. A team that showed last "The Party" that events like these are fun to be at whether you win or lose. They will return with the same line-up consisting of DNFreak, DJZooi, Panjak and Dope and who knows how well they will do this time after grabbing a victory in their first game at the last "The Party".

With everyone preparing for the event the strengths and weaknesses of each team are becoming visible. The environment is a factor that cannot be trained and will perhaps be a big influence on the results. Here are what I think is going to happen in the group stage.
Group A: Wins/Losses
exp. - 6/0
H8H8 - 3/3
tMd - 3/3
LKFF - 0/6
Group B: Wins/Losses
D&P - 5/1
Broken - 5/1
Quad-s - 2/4
fact- - 0/6
I believe the group stage will be a tight affair with many close games and upsets are bound to happen.
