In late autumn 2008, the Russian Gaming Expo IgoMir was supposed to be the first public showing of a long awaited Q3 movie... but it never happened.

Now, well over a year after it was meant to be released, and 1 trailer later, Lubomir "Silu" Silhan from the well-known group han-sai productions has finished his project. The long awaited Q3 Highlights movie featuring Fan "RazerJ" Zhibo is called manJu, and shows almost 11 minutes of widescreen frag highlights from Q3 events, all performed by Jibo himself.

This was first meant to be my contribution for the TEK-9 minimovie contest, but I realized that this kind of movie isn't really good material for the competition, so I wrapped it up and published it.

Im instead working on a new minimovie for the contest, which hopefully will be more fun to watch ;)

So TEK9 announced their 60-90 second movie competition and I figured I'd get in on that shit, but gave up since I don't spend my days on videocopilot.net and can't compete with a million CS / CoD kids who do (please let some Quake movies win though).
Anyway, already had Fraps all set up and a guitar riff I wanted to do something with so this happened.

1999 Ground Zero Q3Test tourney hosted by CPL
Following QuakeCon 1999, CPL held their classic Ground Zero event featuring the beta version of Quake 3, called Q3Test. You will notice some differences in this version, mainly in lightning gun and font colors as well as strafe jumping. Note that this is almost as early as it gets for Quake 3. Only one map was available. 1st place won $10,000 and 2nd got $4,000.

Finally, my first biggest defrag project is done. It has tooked me nearly over 1 year of work with some break’s due to time and hard disk problems ;-)

Anyways, now to the movie.. you can expect really good quality (the intro/main & outro part’s where captured at 400 - 600 fps), clear editing with smooth transitions, good sync and a nice choise of music, that as far as I know, haven’t been used before.

I have decited to do a quite relaxed intro, followed by some sweet drum and bass song’s. I have spend all my creativity and inspiration to show how nice defrag and drum and bass fit’s together ;-) Just see for yourself.


I'm sorry to say that there is no HD version to download, only available in 720x480 (will be available for the second part for sure ;-))



All of the run’s are done in cpm by my mate “ik.nL” and me "mat1c".

Long ago we made an announcement regarding a UT1 movie called "Incarnation"; our best and final work in relation to UT1 moviemaking. The project was delayed several times, mostly because we were just lazy and/or didn't have enough footage/motivation.
After we picked the songs we wanted for the soundtrack, it was down to kuraigu to create a nice mix, and thus the basis, for our movie. Unfortunately, a few months later we realised that certain songs were unsuitable and needed replacing.
We received quite a lot of frags throughout the submission period, so you can imagine that the standard required for inclusion in the movie is pretty high. Of course some of the frags people sent in were just ridiculous (no offence) and wouldn't even be used in a div3 movie. On the other hand some frags are among the best we've ever seen. I'm also convinced that certain players will totally get accused of cheating.

Excessive Speed - Quake 3 Arena movie based on ExcessivePlus modification is my third Q3 Arena movie and
seventh movie I have done over all. I began my film adventure while playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. However, those ET
short clips are not really worth watching.
The purpose of this movie is to promote the best (pure subjectivism) Q3 Arena mod. Video does not contain any
names of frag authors because it is not exactly the point of this release. Frankly, I have to admit that there is only a few players
that actually appear in first pov. (mainly me). The real meaning of this movie is to present all kind of situations that could possibly occur during
the game regardless on whether they were very spectacular or not.
While creating this video I followed the three main rules. First one is high Speed, several third povs and fast changes between
perspectives. In theory that makes movie a bit more complicated but after all a whole project gains a lot of its effectiveness.
Secondly, position clips in appropiate order. It is always a challenge if it comes to this aspect but I truly hope that this movie will
be way more enjoyable than my previous project ‘Infinity’.
Thirdly and finally, avoid random visual effects. I have seen a lot of professional movies as well as amateur ones and this time I
put all efforts to do something new and original. For instance, by filling up the video with only those effects that fit into every
single clip properly.
Another thing that is critical for me is very precise synchronization. I love the movies where so called "small events" like
incredible frags or fast transitions between clips are bound with sound (bass) "kicks" in the background. I gave all my best to
keep entire project in this style.
About the general quality. It is decent but when we take into account other productions that came out lately it turns into average.
Unfortunately I could not make it higher than 1280x800 resolution because of my limited hardware possibilities but hopefully it
will be sufficient.
Excessive Speed took me much longer than all previous projects. I spent a lot of time thinking about all kind of
details as well as general idea about the whole. It has been more or less 4 months including short breaks caused by rl
stuff since I made this decision about starting project. Right now I am very happy it is coming to its end.
I will be grateful if you inform your friends about this movie because as it has been mentioned before the main purpose of this
video is to promote ExcessivePlus mod. I look forward to meet new players. New members of the whole E+ community that
could guarantee us staying alive for a long time.

Description from breacH: Here we go again. Here is my 4th Quake 3 defrag movie. This movie is showing 34 single vq3 tricks from breacH and Dem0oo0N in the most common defrag freestyle maps, or some famous deathmatch maps.

This work can be presented as the finisher of our play-time as defrag freestylers. We have put our best stuff in this movie. And this is probably our last appearance in this game mod.

Nowadays we see a lot of movies containing timescaled or scripted stuff. I want you to know that all footage in this movie has been done with hands and without the help of any cheats or such things. Thanks forward
beeing understanding this for a better joy while watching.

I decided to dedicate this whole cold and rainy sunday to making a warsow fragmovie and I actually managed to complete the whole movie from scratch during this day, excluding making the frags. Hince, a masterpiece is not to be expected, I saved in on alot of those things that spices up a movie, such as freecaming and a filter. I did however make it into something quite different, one might even dare to say retro.
Demos are only my frags, from tests and final versions of 0.5. Some are basewsw, some are ffmod.
