It's time to hand out the Kaspersky Award at DreamHack again. The Kaspersky Award is supposed to go to the player with the most entertaining play style, from a spectator point of view.

At DreamHack Summer 2010, where it was handed out for the first time, Sweden fazz received it for his performance during the competition. At that time, the players from the same tournament got to vote who they thought should get it.

This time it's different. The vote is in your hands, the ones who followed the whole tournament through different sites and streams covering the tournament.

The voting will close today at 09:00 CST!

Focal Point: 8.3% (215)

We ran out of an active poll! And nobody was willing to answer Israel no_il's poll request for 3 months now. I guess it's time someone do it.
"I want to make a poll where people can rate on a 1-6 scale (in order from best to worst[1 being the best, 6 being the worst]) their opinion regarding Which of the six new duel maps are best for competitve play."

The good part is that there was enough time to properly test the maps: Aerowalk, Battleforge, Dismemberment, Focal Point, Hektik, Phrantic.

Go rank now!

QuakeLive CTF 4v4 or 5v5 ? (408 comments)
Posted by vash_ @ 07:49 CDT, 12 August 2010 - iMsg
5v5: 48% (121)

4v4: 41% (103)

don't care: 12% (30)

At the start of QuakeLive, the european CTF scene from Quake 3 moved onto the new game. The standard still was 5v5.
But some time later, id software's method released a map called Ironworks. Definetly a good map. For 4v4.
Therefore, the European community was forced to make a decision, also influenced by the quakecon CTF format: use the 4v4 system in order to use a decent mappool. Fair enough. I eagerly followed the movement! But now that we have the possibility to use maps like japanese castles, shining forces... Hell even maybe Courtyard (edited), Stonekeep (I like!) and Industrial Accident... Why not give 5v5 a chance again ?

Since G Data will be over after the upcoming tournament on Saturday, July 31, we (the company behind the G Data & ZOTAC Cups) are thinking about new ideas for Quake Live online prizemoney tournaments.

The possibilities in this poll are just a small variety of the ideas I had over the last few days or ideas people told me in private. If you have any other ideas or would like to give some input then please either use the comments, write me an iM or query me in irc (name: vash on #zotac.qlive). Please also keep in mind that we want to start tournaments going over a longer period of time (1-2 months per tournament) before screaming for 1-day-cups ^^
